Re: OOC: ninth symphony

Well I've already had two good rolls.  That'll have used up my month's supply of luck.  So if you want Swift to try it, you could always ask her...

Just be prepared to run away very quickly! ;)

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

So are we going to put Swift Fox in harms way or has WH / Sabre got any other tricks? I think Sun Snake interrogating the guard is probably best left to us being in the building rather than trying to trick the guard now. I can maybe play better with a half asleep Drakkar and play off any odd mental images as 'dreams' than trying to trick an alert guard.

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

Well, I think it's up to Swift. Getting over the wall doesn't seem extra difficult, considering DC and WP use (especially compared to some other rolls we've had to make so far). Yet, there is one big 'BUT' - and that is the failure might really have lethal consequences.

Trying to telekinetically lockpick the lock and open the door, on the other hand, seems like a safer way. Sure, there's still a chance of failure (especially we can alert the guard) and possibility we spend too much WP, but somehow it looks like 'a safer bet'.

Long story short, I'd go for the lockpicking, but if Swift feels trying to scale the wall unnoticed would be more fun and something she wants to try, I won't try to stop her. :)

Well perhaps rather than let a fellow Kai fall to her death, a Nexus user can use the Nexus that was going to be used banging away noisily on the door to cushion their fall? :p

Nah - we have to save WP for the case if the said Kai doesn't survive the fall and weakens by this ill-conceived plan the whole team.. O:-)

OK...I can lend Swift a rope, for instance.

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

Cool. We''l let Swift Fox climb up first, the we can fire the rope up to her if she needs it on the end of the arrow. I'm sure our aim will be ok.

Maybe someone can dig a spiked pit in case she falls to...cushion that fall...

Also, completley unrelated question, does anyone have any slippery grease? I'm...conducting a survey...

More seriously, while rope is cool, I think Sabre has a full climbing kit. As long as there isn't a camouflage penalty for using it, then that might completely reduce the risk?

Edit: Also, if there's any way for Sun Snake to use Divination/Inivisbility mixed to help co-ordinate a distraction to further help Swift Fox be unnoticed then let me know :) Or maybe co-ordinate with Water Hornet to use Animal Control at the right times as that distraction?

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

Hmmm, maybe that could be done: finding a way for Hornet and Snake to see through Kraans eyes...? Or rather pick up any 'thought' of a Kraan that would notice an intruder climbing the wall (and then pinpoint that Kraan to...neutralize it in some way...?).

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

I like it when you lot get creative. :)

Catching Swift Fox with Nexus should she fall is definitely possible, but considering the bonuses rom Huntmastery and Sabre's climbng gear, its not likely that such a thing will happen.

Helping her by distracting the kraans? That's also feasible, although you'll need to tell me exactly which abilities you're going to use to make her work easier: what you've suggested so far is theorically good, but you need to justify it with your abilities - you need to tell me what skills you're going to use to do it, because you have multiple combination that might provide a suficiet distaction and, depending on which one you go for, the chance of it working will change.

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

Hmm, just realised I can't communicate any skill of mine without Mindfort unless  I've misunderstood, and that's just too expensive right now.

I mean can Water Hornet basically monitor the Kraan with Animal Control, Sun Snake uses Divination to scan that monitoring, use his Invisibility instincts to feel when a Kraan is going to get close, then use Pathsmanship to be able to find a very efficient way to communicate to Water Hornet both which Kraan is twinging Sun Snake's danger sense, and how the Kraan needs to be diverted?

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

I'd allow you to use Divination + Invisibility + Pathsmanship to predict the best way to follow to avoid detection in general; as you already know, projecting those info into sombody else mind takes your Mindfort combo, since you don't have Telepathy.

That said, you can guide Hornet by words or gestures on how to manipulate the flight path of the kraans (which he'll need to do by ordering them around, DC  5), and I won't ask you to use Pathsmanship to make that work; you're both Magnakai after all, your Sixth Sense would help you understand each other if you both allow it to work.

Naturally enough, this won't be as effective as sending the power through a psychic link, so we'll say that doing it will give Swift a +2 to her Invisibility check, while the psychic variant woul grant her a +4.

Does that sounds far to you all?

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

What's the cost of that? I know that the pairs were 1WP, how much to use all three together?

And WH, do you want to spend the WP on your Animal Control for this?

I'm happy to give a +2, I think the bonuses are stacking up enough to make this not a suicide run for Swift Fox!

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

Well, here's the list of what you're using:

Divination:
Automatically localize the source of a perceived danger in an area (free)

Pathsmanship:
-2 WP to track creature over water or through air

Invisibility:
-1 WP to automatically perfectly cover tracks (no rolls needed)

So, that would be a 3 WP cost in total (you're tracking the kraans through the air to perceive when they're dangerous to Swift Fox attempt, and then covering her tracks by making them look elsewhere), but if you want to spare WP, you can roll for the hiding attempt, that way you'll only spend 2 WP, but you need to beat a Dc 2 roll to be successful (notice that to get the +6 you need to pay 1 WP, so basically using that would be the same as directly paying 3 WP to ensure success).

Hopefully that's a good enough explanation? :)

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

By the way, how long does an Invisibility "use" last for?
Would one use of it last long enough to climb up the wall, down the other side and still avoid the notice of any sentries in there (or to avoid waking up the sleepy one)?

Whatever can lower the risk for Swift, I'm all for it; so yeah, let's try what you're saying, Snake. Btw, I have Pathsmanship, too - maybe that could help somehow (even if merely allowing Snake to save some WP).

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

@ Swift Fox: the Invisibility check covers sneaking up while climbing, both the "outsie the walls" part and the "inside the walls part", in a single roll; that said, if you find some other way to descend inside the fortress, you can do so. The same applies for the climbing Hunting check.

Whatever goes on above the wall will be a separate matter, and the actual difficulty of it all will depend on how you choose to tackle it, assuming you make it up there.

And Swift Fox, you do know In Character that Sabre has climbing equipment - you used it to cross the quicksand, remember? ^_^

@ Hornet: considering this is a use of mixed disciplines, I can't see any way you coul reduce Snake's burder here. That said, if you can think of a way you could help, let me know and I'll make a call on the feasibility of it. :)

Re: OOC: ninth symphony

Ah, right; I had to re-read carefully what you've said (msg #931 & msg #931) ^_^

So, Swift needs to beat the climbing and hiding DC; Snake pays 3 WP and directs Hornet - if I beat Animal Control DC (5), Swift gets +2 (apart from her other bonuses)...? Hope got it correct this time. :)

Also a side note: I will be away from 01-May till 07-May, so not sure how much (if at all) I'll be able to post. (But if I manage to, then all the players, except for Dusk Rat, will be in the same time zone as I'm visiting Scotland ^_^)

Scotland? Yay! Say hello to it from me (currently in England :(  )

And yeah, Dusk Rat is not a million miles away from me (just slightly too far to launch a real life gaming group) so apparently all the players willbe in the same timezone?

Oops, sorry, I thought Dusk Rat was from the USA (that was probably Rain Feather...if I'm not wrong again).

I'll be in Edinburgh; also have a trip planned to Glasgow. But I'll keep in mind not to walk any dark alleys after sunset ;) (And I should be returning through London, so will set foot on English soil, as well :) )

Game-wise: is it already time to start rolling?

Yay, Edinburgh. Just down the road from Aberdeen where I come from, and a cool city. I'm sure you'll check out the castle, but do go to the other end of Princess Street for Carlton Hill to see the area there too - you get some nice views of the surrounding area and the observatory is there.

And lol, I live not a million miles from  London, so you really are touching all the places I have been vaguely close to :) Are you getting to spend any time in London before you head off?
