This is very well maintained and has some great stuff.

Thruxus, if you're willing to maintain your list of links in your thread, not only are you welcome to copy this one, but I, for one, would greatly appreciate it.  (I am assuming that others will post additional links.)

Re: Pathfinder Discussion

Hmmm. If I did this, it would be with things like the First Steps series at first, with a possible 'out take episode' using pregens in something like We Be Goblins after that (You would play Pregens but the money and credit would go to you PFS characters) and after that.., I'd have to look for simple and to the point scenarios (I'm a Venture-Lieutenant so I have access to them and already know a few choices I would pick)

I'm fairly certain I have seen several 'start-up' but I don't think I've ever seen one get anywhere.  Granted... I had only followed them out of interest, and had not joined.  I have yet to commit the time to joining and creating a PFS character yet, although I certainly have been interested.

Re: Pathfinder Discussion

Hence my wariness..

BUT the First Step series (In Service to the Lore, Delve the Dungeon Deep and A Vison of Betrayal) are fairly short, introduce you to the factions of the Society and are scaled to put you at 2nd level by the end of them. If you're not happy with your PC build by then you can respec, choose different factions and reequip with the chronicle money you get in them.

Say.. you make a barbarian gnome.. but by the end of Intro 3, you are leaning more towards a ranger gnome.. you can sell off all the gear (with a few exceptions) and rebuild him as a ranger and carry on from there.

Like I said I'm a Venture-Lieutenant in my lodge so I'm learning to wrangle sessions at various stores and locations and have access to the Scenarios. (not to mention I've played these already)

And yes, I know the failure rate of PFS games online is fairly high.. hence my choices in the 'shorter/faster/more direct scenarios'.

One the right side.. there is a link.. 'Player's resources' the 'Additional Resources page' tells you want is and isn't allowed in play..and the actual guide on that page is a free download that tells you about the factions, rules of play and such.

You also have to register to get a number for play, and when I give out chronicle sheets at the end of a scenario I give out the number and (and a -1, -2 or whatever character you use)

Well there is a big issue with the 'core assumptions' rules and how you have to have sources. As we all have access to the PRD on the paizo site, I would suggest using that source. If you have anything more than that. .we'll have to work it out.

Re: Pathfinder Discussion

Ahha... you learn something new every day!  Apparently, I already have a Pathfinder society number.

On a separate, but slightly related matter, what are the requirements for being a GM for Pathfinder Society adventures online?  It seems like there are a few free pathfinder adventures you can get a hold of, for instance.  Otherwise, it looked like something that some cost a handful of dollars to get.

Are you serious about running a Pathfinder Society Game online?  If so, I'm up for starting with the goblin one... that way I don't need to worry about character creation right off the bat.  I've checked a couple times, and didn't see you having created a new game for it just yet.

My question I do have, would doing the Goblin adventure interfere with running the three introductory adventures.  (or would that make our character advance to 2nd on the third adventure, for instance?)  Or can we wait to apply the experience from the goblin adventure to our character until after the first three scenarios.

I apologize if I seem to be asking a lot of questions, but you did present yourself as a Venture-Lieutenant, so you make a convenient target for questions.

And yes, I would be interested in giving it a try.  IF I can get four players.  Exwrestler is a friend and busy this weekend so I know he is interested.

Re: Pathfinder Discussion

I certainly enjoy creating my own characters as well.  I just haven't gotten that deeply into the character generation process in the Pathfinder Society.  I suppose however, it sounds like you can change numerous things up until you hit first level, so that would give you at least 2 times in between adventures to make changes, and maybe a third if you get to make such changes before advancing to 2nd level.

So I read something about seasons, and that the newer seasons are made for 6 characters now instead of 4.  Does that mean we can go with anywhere from 4 to 6 players in the introductory sequence?

With that in mind do others already have in mind what Role they would prefer to play in the party?  I have numerous base ideas I can build off of so I'm flexible what I'd choose if others already have stronger preferences.

I have two basic concepts I'm considering... one is a half-orc cavalier whom is really more of combat brute, with a little bit of ability to affect the combat environment.  However, it sounded like we might have a decent share of combat fighters already, so I began trying to consider other options.

Another option is a Bard (Dawnflower Dervish) so they would also be a bit of a combatant, but would have some arcane spell capability, and would also be intended to fight along side others helping to protect them as well as dishing out damage.

I thought about a Chirurgeon alchemist... but that wouldn't actually help the party out that much with healing, until the character made it to 2nd level.

Well after you get your prestige for the first adventure, you can get a wand of cure light wounds (750 gp/2 pp) and since it's on your spell list.. you can use it without UMD.

The first adventure is some combat and some social events. Not everything is 'wipe everything out' some times it's 'go in and find X and if you CAN keep a low profile.'

There are dungeon crawls, cross country treks and stuff that can be calls 'espionage' scenarios throughout the 5 seasons I have access to.

1. That's not mine.. (I've been busy.. voting, helping others, and doing school projects).

2. Hellknight Signifier (and winter witch prc) were just opened up last month (the original plan I think was to open them up as scenario boons but it was shelved) and most of the prestige classes are as is. For other classes they have some changes which is where the 'additonal resources page' comes in. It outlines where the changes are at and which classes aren't allowed (like the Aspis agent..they are the societies arch-rivals)

I can answer some things.. but others I can't. (my NDA is pretty specific in some points) but the decision apparently went down before I became a Venture-Officer and I talked to my Venture-Captain about it for some time.

Season 4 (the latest season) has some nice rewards BUT is also some of the hardest eps out there. I'm to run 'In Wrath's Shadow' next week and it has a nice boon item BUT if you are a 'kill em all and move to next room' sort.. you're going to get in trouble.

(Not to mention it goes counter to the mission at hand)

They are some of the BEST stories too. Rise of the Goblin Guild in my opinion is one of the best stories out there.. Goblins are definitely crazy little psychopaths in Pathfinder. And nothing is more creepy than the little buggers throwing Alchemist fire at you (with the perk of +1d4 from Burn! Burn! Burn (racial feat)) while singing on how your flesh will sizzle.

Re: Pathfinder Discussion

If it's the medium it's still the GMs. Because the GM needs to adapt to the medium.

GMing is a truly honorable gamer role that demands a lot of hard work.

I've run a Dark Heresy campaign here on RPOL for over a year now. And it's the only game I've played that has survived an length of time. Because ultimately the players look to the GM to keep the game going.... and I've made it my mission to keep the game going.

But more over I've had to find ways to encourage actual RP... to push players to desire growth etc. I find one-on-one attention is great for this. I've got a minor sub-plot going on in secret for each of my players.... I handle it by pvt message and locked threads etc. But it really pushes them to develop characters and it also flavors the way they interact with the other players.

The GM must find ways to use the medium. It's not the medium's fault.

Anyone have experience with the new Occult classes in pathfinder?  I haven't had a chance to dig into them.  I'll admit that I wasn't really a fan of Psionics in 3.5, so I wonder what I'll think of these when I do.

Just gonna leave this here, great for people who haven't gotten their pdfs yet and aren't fans of piracy- and even the pirates can't get their hands on one of those starter boxes >.>

Very little.. I'm making a Slayer/Warlock Vig for PFS and I've used a LOT of the spells from the book

Re: Pathfinder Discussion

Well I found conductive works good with Mystic Bolts for a Warlock. Go TWS and get two keen conductive weapons.. you're ready to rock and roll.

The warlock, and to a lesser extent the cabalist, both got boned because of kineticists.

aphasia is my official favor 'screw the caster' spell. Puzzle box can really mess up a fighter in heavy armor with a nasty weapon.. -4 NWP instantly

Re: Pathfinder Discussion

Anyone here good with the table/chart function of RPOL?  I'm building a custom class for a solo PF game, and I'd like to make a post that shows the progression of the class in chart form, like you see in the books or SRD.  Link included for description:

https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/rogue

I'm looking to replicate the portion just below the Class Skills section.

Re: Pathfinder Discussion

In reply to Jarilye (msg # 74):

The simple tables feature has a lot of power, with the ability to merge cells in both directions, control the alignment, etc.  Generally, when I'm trying to work out how to do something, I look for an example of the effect I want here:  link to a message in another game and then see how they did it.

The table you're looking to reproduce looks pretty simple.  The only thing that the simple tables can't do easily is the alternating background colors.  You would make alternate rows use the header style, but that brings other changes, too.  I don't have rights to make links here in the forum, but if you're a GM in a game you will, and you can make the features links just using the A tag inside your table.

LevelBase Attack BonusFort SaveRef SaveWill SaveSpecial
1st+0+0+2+0Sneak attack +1d6, trapfinding
2nd+1+0+3+0Evasion, rogue talent

Done with this code:
|!! Level | Base Attack Bonus | Fort Save | Ref Save | Will Save | Special |
|! 1st |^ +0 |^ +0 |^ +2 |^ +0 |^ Sneak attack +1d6, trapfinding |
|! 2nd |^ +1 |^ +0 |^ +3 |^ +0 |^ Evasion, rogue talent |

Thanks.  I'm pretty awful with the table function.
