The Plunge

Hastily refitted and upgraded the Alabak’s Gold smelt of engine grease and hot metal. Lubricant had left fresh stains on Klyn's jumpsuit as the engineer invited everyone aboard. At Tera's request room had been made for a medical bay and the addition of a bacta tank. The cockpit which usually had plenty of space for the small crew instead had everyone struggling for legroom. There was just enough room for the two pilots, engineer and system operator to occupy the front of the bridge and the other four crew to sit behind them.

Departing Neskroff base the jumpship proved itself worthy of Klyn's efforts and escaped the atmosphere of the crystal planet with only a minimal of juddering and screeching. As the sublight engines cut in the ride became smooth and the sounds of the ship settled into a steady hum and rumble. The view of Isis from orbit was a dazzling spectacle of refracted lights and colours. Flying further away from the crystal inference the hyperspace coordinates for Sedri were input and a hyperspace route planned. The hyperspace engines were engaged and abruptly cut off. On a system sensor the Alabak's Gold's alarms whooped in complaint.

The Plunge

Bron finds his place his newly assigned cabin, kneeling beneath an overgrown fern of one variety or another that he saved from destruction of the hydroponics bay. Bron enters a meditative state. Emptying his mind he begins to focus on the crystals strewn about himself.

As Bron concentrates, the crystals begin floating around him in an almost geosynchronous orbit. Once happy with those he lifts his lightsaber into the air, pulling it apart and allowing the individual pieces to float as if in a zero g space.

After a few hours, Bron puts the lightsaber back together with the new parts and returns to a pure meditative state.

The Plunge

Tera was working in the medbay, updating the crews medical records when she felt something go wrong with the ship. She frowned. Something felt very off, moving swiftly she moved to the communications panel "Uh....Tera here. Did something just go wrong?"

The Plunge

Now with a total crew and passengers of nine, Lyla couldn't remember the Gold having ever been so crowded before. She ordered one of the unused cabins (certainly unused after turfing Jason out of it) flooded and the door re-sectioned to accommodate a Mon Calamari, and ordered some appropriate furnishings, scale cleaners, and things to make Rekara feel right at home. That left four two-bunk cabins among eight people: she assigned Bron and Quantros to one (they got on well together and with no-one else, apparently); Klyn, Rynn, Jason, and Chu-Shkar among the other two as they liked, teasing Klyn that he should stay with the Wookiee because he was hairy enough to be one; and invited Tera to move in with her. She felt the highest-ranked shouldn't have to move, and so stayed put.

Now that it was gone, Lyla found she missed Oglo's old hydroponics bay. As pointless as it was, it had added a nice touch of green to the metal world of the spaceship, and the scout had appreciated that. And Goddess help her, she even missed Oglo. But the plants and equipment had been wrecked and decayed and had to go. The new medical bay and bacta tank were much more useful to the mission, much more likely to save a life.

As the new crew members moved in or moved around, as the new equipment and weapons underwent final installation and set-up, the ship had become quite a hectic place. But Lyla felt good about it, like they were becoming a much more professional operation.

Lyla shouldered her way through the crowded bridge. Now there was something for everyone to do and someone to do every one of them, the bridge and cockpit were positively stuffed with people. Maybe she had to organise a shift system? She watched the take-off from Isis with a mixture of relief and regret, the latter at leaving that beautiful world, the former at a successful flight. The Alabak's Gold flew again!

Then she heard the alarm and saw the hyperspace engines had failed. 'Is it supposed to do that?' She hit the intercom to Tera, responding 'Trying to find out now.'

The Plunge

Feeling the alarms go off, more than hearing them the crystals around him clattered to the floor of his shared cabin with Quantros. Bron opened his eyes, looking up he was glad he was able to save the old fern before the hydroponics bay was re-purposed. Standing up he thanked the plant for its life, as an old earth witch would his hands grazing it as he stepped forward out of the cabin.

Heading towards the cockpit he extended his feelings searching for the disturbance that brought them abruptly out of hyperspace. Upon reaching the overflowing cockpit he stands just outside it looking in, observing the chaos of interstellar travel. He was never very fond of it himself and much preferred to stay in a meditative state while adrift among the stars.

For a moment he watched Lyla try to discern the source of the surrounding chaos. Keeping quiet, knowing there was not much he could do to help he stood by just in case someone needed him to do something.
