The Prisoner

The chaos of journey to the Roche asteroid field did not disturb Quantros. He stayed calm as the Alabak’s Gold made its way to Ackbar’s Command Base. When the rest of the crew went to meet the leader of Project Shantipole he remained on board the starship. When it launched back into space Quantros had no knowledge that the starship had been hijacked until after it landed at Research Station Shantipole. Then he was captured by Imperial Stormtroopers as they searched the Alabak’s Gold.

Knocked out by a stun blast he regained unconsciousness in what must have once been a storage room. A few plastisteel containers and pots remained pushed into one corner. Against the wall and restrained by the same binders as Quantros were seven tall insectoid humanoids.

At the only exit out of the storage room stood two stormtroopers, armed with blaster rifles. The other prisoners sat in silence against the wall.

The Prisoner

Quantros ascertained the nature of his surroundings. This certainly didn't seem like the Gold. Had he been taken to an Imperial Outpost? He shuffled, trying to feel if his lightsaber was still on his person. The fact that the Imperials did not outright kill him yet gave him some comfort, and the fact that he was restrained by binders against a wall with seven others in the room spoke volumes. If they knew about his connection to the Force, his accomodations would be much more...secure. They didn't know about him being a Force User. They couldn't have, not with this level of incompetence behind his bindings. He also gave a cursory examination of his companions in the storeroom with him. He checked for wounds, and for signs that they still had fight in them. They were going to be needed if he was going to make an attempt to escape.

The Prisoner

When Quantros had regained consciousness and he began to look around the room one of the aliens nodded to him, it's antenna waving "you from friendly rebel hive?" it chirped before one of the stormtroopers shook his blaster rifle at it "no talking!" he ordered and the Verpine chirped meekly, its large black eyes examining Quantros.

Quantros saw no wounds on the Verpine prisoners, all looked in good health from what Quantros could determine of the strange alien race he couldn't identify.

Quantros was about to respond to the insectoid's question, when the stormtrooper interrupted. He glowered at the stormtrooper in annoyance, before facing the alien with a confident smirk. He nodded, before quietly saying "shhh..." Quantros looked up at his binders, and began to feel through the Force. He felt the inner workings of the binders, each tumbler of the lock, and began pushing gently on the mechanisms with the Force.

OOC: 11:25, Today: Quantros Starbound rolled 18 using 1d20+8.  Use the Force.

Quantros faced forward as he attempted to unlock the binders around his wrists, quietly. If he succeeded, he would give no indication. The binders would not open up, and he would not bring his arms down. There was a soft click. Hopefully, that was a good sign.

Focused Quantros let his mind reach out and explore his surroundings. He felt around the binders on his wrist. He felt their smoothness and the buzzing of the energy that held them fast. Quantros understood the oneness of the Force and its interconnectivity. The binders at peace and united contacted the same strength. What was needed was something to disrupt that harmony and break the link it created.

OOC The binders are energy-based not mechanical so Move Light Object is unsuccessful in releasing them, a security tool kit or something else is what Quantros needs...

"Blast." Quantros cursed under his breath. Energy binders were...not necessarily new, but they were much more commonplace than he remembered. He was going to have to find a different method of opening the binders. One option was to destroy them with the Force, but that might tip off the guards. If they immediately knew his true nature, he might be in trouble, especially since he read about what happened to the Jedi in the temple on Coruscant.

Another option was to find the keys. The guards had locked them up, they likely had a way to unlock their binders. Quantros looked over at the stormtrooper's belts and bodies, looking for a key or something he could use to unlock the binders.

Quantros smirked. This was going to be too easy. If the stormtroopers weren't going to pay attention, then Quantros was going to take full advantage of the situation. With a little concentration, he began using the Force to slip the key out of the Stormtrooper's belt. Cautiously, he slid it along the wall, behind the crates. Quantros trusted the Force to allow him to know where it was when he couldn't see it, and once it was on the other side of the crates, it flew over to him. Quantros then smiled, as he used the keys to unlock his binders. He turned to the aliens in the room, placing a finger up to his lips, and floating the key over to the one next to him. He placed the key in it's hand, before turning to face the stormtroopers.

The lone guard was unready for any such assault or action from the prisoners. The power of the Force harnessed by Quantros the stormtrooper was thrown up into the air and slammed against the cavern wall. Like a ragdoll the Imperial soldier didn't stand a chance, their body slumped against the unyielding rock.

The other prisoners chittered nervously and surprised. They were not inactive however but all at the same time began to move around the room and gather supplies and tools from crates and boxes "there are tunnels we can hide from the enemy Empire hive" the vocal alien informed Quantros.

Well, things turned out better than he hoped. Quantros decided to check down the hallways covertly as the insectoids scavenged the supply boxes. His mind was focused on how to get off this rock, infested as it  was with Imperials, and try to link up with the Rebellion. But that alarm...were there already rebels here?

Then the chatty alien spoke. Quantros had no recollection of meeting these creatures. He was glad they were allies, but it would be troublesome to move this large group of creatures unnoticed. As he listened to what the creature was saying, Quantros took a moment to consider the insectoid's words. Ultimately, however, he ended up rejecting them.

"We could hide, but they'll eventually come to find us. When they do, they're either going to try and catch us again, or kill us. Even if we hid well, the Empire is tenacious, and they would not rest until we are found. The better option is to try and flee, or failing that, drive the Empire away from here."

"That being said, whatever we decide to do, we'd have more success if I had my lightsaber. Tell me, have any of you found it? It should look like a scepter, about yea big, silver and black, with three prongs on either end." Quantros used his hands to demonstrate the length of his lightsaber. He hoped these creatures would understand what they were looking for.

When Quantros asked their question to the alien it answered simultaneously as another lifted its hand from a crate and waved the lightsaber about "ah yes your missing tool has been found" it answered without turning around to see the other alien "it's design and function seems crude. May I suggest some improvements?"

"If you flee the B-wings are in working order" the Verpine explained.

Quantros took his lightsaber quickly. He checked it for damage, thanking the alien for it's return. Experimentally, he ignited the first end, then the second, and inspected the violet beams. After confirming it was in working order, he powered it off, and clipped it to his belt. Quantros regarded the alien, and the information it told him.

The B-Wings worked? That's great. He had been studying up on rebel tech and equipment in his spare time, and had been mostly updated on all the major fighters that the Rebellion utilized. This included the one Commander Ackbar was working on. He was certain he could pilot one out of here. But the problem was that he wasn't sure that his allies would be safe. He first took a moment to correct the alien about his lightsaber, though he maintained a degree of curiosity while doing it.

"I fail to see how my Lightsaber's design is crude. It's made specifically to fight with the Ataru fighting style, the fourth form of Lightsaber combat. Are you saying you can improve that which even the greatest Jedi and Sith could not?" In a way, though, the alien was right. Quantros had been utilizing Soresu and Shii-cho, having not gained enough control over the Force to properly utilize Ataru. Though the more time he spent, both in meditation and in combat, it seemed his strength was returning.

And though they offered Quantros a means to escape, he shook his head. "You seem to misunderstand, though. I cannot abandon you to the Imperial forces. I need to ensure that you won't be captured or killed. To that end, I won't make my escape until after I am assured that you are safe."

Actually with an energy source that powerful those changes would cause a thermoblast."

Then focused on the present "our colony was attacked the enemy hive now occupies it. If we are not to hide then we must flee. There will be ships in the hangar."

Quantros nods. "Right. Then I shall take point. Are you willing to fight? If so, I recommend you grab that guard's blaster. It should have a stun setting if you're opposed to killing. I can help you if you can't figure out how to set it to stun." Quantros had looked up some information on "Modern" blasters. He knew what to look for, having seen blasters used by several rebel soldiers, and familiarizing himself with them via his datapad. If there was any logic in the Stormtrooper's blasters, it wouldn't be hard to find what their stun setting was. When everyone was ready, Quantros moved next to the door to the maintenance workshop. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and began stretching out with the Force. He tried to sense whether or not there were people in the workshop at this very moment, but unfortunately, he saw only a cloudy black when he closed his eyes. It seems his connection to the Force was still not strong enough. Opening his eyes, he got ready to go through the door.

Quantros sighed. That made things harder, but so be it. If things were easy, they weren't worth doing. If these creatures didn't want the chance to grow, he'd gladly take it for them. "Very well. In that case, stay behind until I clear the room. I'll let you know when it's safe." Taking up his lightsaber, Quantros opened the door, and stepped inside. If there were any stormtroopers there, and if they looked in his direction, they'd see the violet blade ignite, and he'd issue a warning. In his mind, he would tell them: "I would prefer that you surrender quietly. Otherwise, you'll have to deal with the likes of me."

He had only meant to break the Stormtrooper's limbs, making it so that he couldn't fire his blaster anymore, nor warn anyone about his escape. He must be growing stronger in the Force faster than he realized, he thought. What he really needed to do was work on his control over it, and his focus. He went back to the storage room to inform his new friends that the coast was clear, before leading them into the maintenance workshop. "So, where do we go from here? How do we get to the hangar?"

The hangar bay is immense and bustling with activity. The tunnel enters the hangar on the side. A metal catwalk forms an awning some ten metres above the floor. Three other tunnels exit the bay. A hangar control tower juts out from the stone wall. Two officers stand inside, directing the activity below. Across the bay, on the catwalk, three stormtroopers stand by a tripod mounted repeating blaster. Near them, four TIE fighters hang suspended from a temporary TIE docking rack. Twenty stormtroopers move about the hangar's floor. A squid-faced Quarren directs four technicians as they load boxes onto an oversized Imperial shuttle. The Alabak's Gold is parked on the far side of the bay.

If he could find a way to get in one of those Fighters, he might be able to fight off every stormtrooper in the docking bay. He certainly had the skills to pilot a fighter, and it shouldn't be too difficult to learn how to pilot an imperial one. As the telepathic message came to him, he shot another one back, thinking only one word: "Stormtroopers." With it, he sent the feeling of being a Womp Rat in a Sarlacc nest.
