Re: Second Act OOC Chat

my roll results may need to be tweeked a little bit.  A few questions...

Does the Rage spell effect just him or Cho'kobo as well?
Does the already cast Inspire Courage end at the beginning of the round or at the beginning of Kuldar's turn?  Since Solomon's initiative is higher than Kuldar's does he still benifit from it this round?
Do the bonuses from Inspire courage and Rage stack?

As I figure it now:
Solomon - Base attack +7/+2, Str (normally 16) reduced to 12, Assumed still getting bonus from Inspire courage until Kuldar's turn +2 to hit and damage, +1 from magic weapon, Smite +4 to hit +7 to damage (don't think it is considered a first attack since he's already performed a first smite attack on Blaith earlier)  I did forget to add in the smite bonus damage upon hitting Blaith ealier in this particular battle though.
Total to hit = +15/+10, Damage +11/hit +1D6 fire damage
Seems I've been shorting myself!  I thought the opposite was happening.

If anyone sees a mistake let me know and I'll adjust.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Rage is 1 target/3 levels so I can choose 2, figured you and your mount would be a nice choice so yes, Cho'kobo benefits as well.

Also I was mistaken, the Inspire Courage will persist for this full round until the beginning of my next Init, so you can have it and Rage this round.

I got mixed up since one of my actions got changed so I was counting an extra round in there.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Skraag, that action of yours is going to provoke 2 attacks of opportunity on you before you get a chance to heal.  If you make a full withdraw but stay within 30 feet of me I'll channel healing so you regain some health this round and don't risk taking any more damage until you can start healing yourself.  If you can stay alive until that aura runs out then I can start using my own cure light wounds on you as well because I'd really like to save this channel energy ability for emergencies. :P

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Withdrawal only protects you against AOO's from the space you "start" in. It offers no protection from subsequent AOO's. I am pretty sure the big Skel has reach so it's going to get one whack at Skraag no matter what.

I'm going to assume Channel Possitive Energy requires too much concentration to use while in a Rage state.

I'll be NPCing Kuldar this round so all we're waiting for now is Raznik. If you were waiting for his post, don't. Presume he is going to try and save Skraag if possible.

One of my favorite comic book artists just sketched a pic that is quite fitting for Solomon and Cho'kobo.

That's pretty accurate heh. He just needs a giant glowing halo and full plate and he's set.

I'll have an update for you guys tomorrow after my class. Hopefully Raznik will have gotten to chime in by then or else I'm gonna get to NPC 2 players this round. Yay more work! (I kid, I don't mind)

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

So this might explain at least a little bit about why I feel so ineffective as a healer...

I had cure light wounds listed as a 2nd level spell and cure moderate wounds listed as a 3rd level spell when they are both a level lower and I should have cure serious wounds as a third level spell.

I don't play healers very often, and it shows.

Healers are generally not that useful in combat...touch range spells that only get +1/level instead of d4/d6 like every damaging spell? Damage outprogresses healing, it's something that was impossible to deal with...

Really the only combat was something PF added(not entirely true, combat healers in 3.5 could function but...well definitely not by 7th level, that's for sure) which is Channel Energy. On it's own? Not that huge, definitely makes you wanna keep levels in the base class that runs it, but you can heal multiple d6 to tons of people at once.

First thing you should aim for is a Phylactery of Positive Channeling(11,000gp) which adds 2d6 to your Channel Energy, that's another 8d6/day*number of allies or foes hit

But yeah...getting your spells straight will help, Druids do have slightly slower progression(light is 1st, moderate is 2nd, then serious jumps to 4th etc...)

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Well it seems that we've lost Raznik. He hasn't posted or even checked in for 8 days and various PMs. The other games I was in with him also either kicked him or, if he was running them, died, so I don't suppose he's coming back. Before I do anything about it (I'll be NPCing him till the end of this fight), what do you guys want to do? New player? Recruit from within one of your or my games? Leave the party at the 4 of you and Temnir? Let me know what you think and I'll get a post up sometime tomorrow for you gents. Keep up the good work! He's almost dead!

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

HOLY FLAMING BURST OF GOD SMACK, BATMAN!

Sometimes in fights I get the sense that I'm going to come out fairly unscathed and thus don't feel any real tension; but not with this GM.  In both games I'm constantly worried that I may not make it out alive.  It is rare a RP battle can get the heart pumping (especially a text based game.)

Kudos Gm.

Hi everyone. Sorry for my long absence. My life has been seriously hectic recently, and I don't see it letting up any time soon. Sorry for not dropping by to let anyone know. I think it would be best if I pulled out...

Thanks dude! I try to keep it real and this game is definitely my baby. Hopefully we can continue to push forward and have some more awesome times together. Sad to see Raznik go but it's on good terms.

That is all you can hope for when a player has to drop out...

Also: will have a post up by morning, just recovering from a long weekend

I need someone to take the initiative and move the group forward to a decision on what's happening next. Otherwise I will just assume you're going to set up shop outside the mine for the rest of the day and move you on to tomorrow where you'll still face the same decision of what to do next.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

I think the plan is that we camp out for a few days and recover with Solomon and I healing HP and ability score damage.  Those who are fully healed can conduct a thorough search of the cave and see if we can find out where to go next.  At any rate a little railroading is probably going to be necessary. :P

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Yeah, I already mentioned that we search the portion of the cave we are in now for clues.  Then I was going to suggest staying a night or two in the cave entrance where we last slept, heal up.  If no clues present themselves we'll likely head to the nearest village or town (where ever that may be).

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

So to answer the questions of those of you who have send me PMs about the new cast members, I'll outline what we have going on in the near future. First of all, I'd like to give a warm welcome to John Cody who will be playing Ichi Zato. He'll be taking the place of Raznik now that he's left us. I don't want to give too much away about him but he will be someone you will meet soon.

And of course there is Vargus Orstryder along with Tynrul Stormclaw and Stoya Featherwind. If you were paying attention to the names being dropped a little while back, you may recognize him as one of Temnir's former companions, the giant of a man, barbarian with the bear-head armor, and wielder of the  great-hammer Tu'nat'ra. My buddy from the Navy who played him has some time on his hands so he'll be playing a bit of a side adventure that, if it coincides with the main game, will only do so through reference to him so you needn't worry about that. The other two are a part of that side game as well.

That being said, I'm quite excited for what's soon to come for you guys. The "intro" is done. Now the real fun begins!

Derevaan is the country you're currently in Kuldar. Just thought I'd point that out =P

On that note, I'm currently working on setting up the wiki for this game for you guys to be able to edit with whatever information you have. I'll update it when time allows a well but it will help you to keep track of stuff like that instead of having to thumb through 2000+ to find one thing.
