Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Alright, guess it's time for a roll-call. If you are still around and wish to be active in this game, speak up. Those who haven't checked in with me either via OOC or PM by Wednesday at midnight will be replaced. I know getting back into the swing of things after the holiday break can be rough and this is just one of the things that ends up happening sadly.

Since Renard lost some AC from not having his armor, I'll make him the final target for Haste.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

It's what I do, I would have gotten Good Hope as my other 3rd level spell(so for two 3rd level spells and a bardic performance I could give 7 people +5 attack, +4 damage, +1 AC, +2 saves(+3 reflex), and an extra attack), but I couldn't pass up the endless possibilities of Glibness, plus I only get two 3rd level spells per day right now.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Is mounting a steed a move, standard, or full action?

Mount/Dismount a Steed
Mounting or dismounting a steed requires a move action.

Fast Mount or Dismount: You can mount or dismount as a free action with a DC 20 Ride check. If you fail the check, mounting or dismounting is a move action instead. You can't attempt a fast mount or fast dismount unless you can perform the mount or dismount as a move action in the current round.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

It seems like there is no downside to attempting the Ride check.  It's a Move Action if he doesn't attempt it and it's a Move Action if he fails...  I guess there's always a critical failure.

Or, 'Solomon attempts to run and jump into the saddle...and jumps over Cho'kobo and lands face first onto the cobblestone.'

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

So here I am with a dilemma.

Post the next round of combat....

or

Do nothing but read the final installation of Robert Jordan's the Wheel of Time that just arrived at my doorstep.

Hmmmm.....Of course, to be fair to you I will get a post up before I find myself too immersed in my book. I have to admit, I opened it just to look and after I finished blinking, an hour had gone by and I was a decent way into the book. Do any of you know of / have read that series?

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

It's an installment, so closer to a novelette then a tome, yes? In the long run it doesn't make much difference, but I think the GM is entitled to some self-indulgence from time to time...

EDIT: And it is nice that Protection From Evil's deflection bonus to AC(vs evil targets) stacks with Haste's Dodge bonus. Bard buffs stack well...for obvious reasons but still it can be kind of scary how accurate and deadly a party of Archers could be with a single Bard standing amidst them.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

If you consider 909 pages a novelette, then yes haha. Seriously though, this series is older than I am and it's coming to a close as of today. I'm excited but saddened. This series is what got me so interested in DMing in the first place. The character and world development in the series is just above and beyond anything you could ever expect.

I agree, I swear you don't even have to hit something and you easily are one of the more valuable people in the party during a fight but you do that too haha

In reply to DM Visceri (msg # 691):

Bards are useless without people competent enough to be better then bards at combat :p

And even that is a lie, a party of bards can handle healing, ranged, melee, buffing...it really is the Jack of All Trades class, only loss being that several Inspire Courages do not stack, the benefit being that the party could have pretty much every bardic performance active simultaneously >.>

That would be an interesting game to play in.  THE BAND an adventuring party consisting of nothing but bards.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Once upon a time on this site I was a part of an 11 player all dwarven campaign that lasted all of 2 months. In that time there were around 10 drinking competitions, 5 bar brawls, and a handful of bear trimming tips. It was amazing. If only it could actually work out one day heh.

You ever decide to revive it(or hell, any game really as you're easily in my top 5 rpol GM list) and I'll take part-  the Dwarves were and still are my least favorite race I'm willing to play, but hey they can be fun.
