Sorry, read the post but didn't have time to reply, promptly forgot about it and no longer had the game flagging me to check it...

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

So.. I'm a little confused. I imagined the gate is quite far from the front of the house because there's a courtyard, isn't there? And the guards are only looking at the smoke without doing anything because the fire is happening in the poor side of the city and they don't care about what happens there. How do you guys imagine the situation at the moment?

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

The last couple of posts have been kind of confusing but I think that's because there was such a long wait between them.

I figured we were in the building, a fire is started on one side of the building and the guards are either moving towards it or looking towards it, thus leaving one of the gates unwatched either on the opposite side of the building from the fire or barely visible from where the other guards are.  You're standing outside the gate beckoning to us from a convenient bush.  The gate is locked, though, since this place is essentially just a very posh jail.

I'm probably wrong in some or all of that.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

I guess the gate part I'm unsure on, is the house locked or barred from the outside at all?

I know the fire is off a bit, but telling them someone threw a rock at our window and then headed off that way implies some of that filth is causing a ruckus and bringing it to them- was hoping that might set them off, all I've got to work with right now is subterfuge and a Throwing Hammer.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Oh ok.

Hmm... I don't think Avianna can hear Kuldar since he's far away. I believe Temnir been speaking to you guys through the message spell. Please correct me if I'm wrong, DM. Either way, once Solomon and Skraag make their posts, I'll be trying my hand on some of them new lock picks I picked up the other day. Ooh, shiny!

In reply to Avianna Maher (msg # 755):

I assumed he was closeby, using the spell to speak through a wall and window, breaking the window was meant to eliminate that need and possibly create a diversion.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

I come back to find much confusion so let me see if I can shed some light on the current situation. The Guest House is a good sized 2 story villa about the size of the inn you were in earlier but much nicer. There is indeed a courtyard though it's not very big, more of a front lawn without the grass that leads to the gate. Which brings me to that point; there is only one gate and it is the one you came through that faces the door of the villa. Temnir and Avianna are on the opposite side of the fence from the gate on the outside. The fire is a ways off, back on the Lower City side of the wall and the guards have not left their posts but are distracted by the smoke and are looking off in that direction. Basically, it's just saying that they don't have their eyes specifically on you. I had also assumed that you were outside now for some reason, can't remember why exactly, but if that was incorrect, then I apologize. Either way, Temnir's message spell would have been able to reach you.

If you want to edit your posts to reflect these clarifications, go ahead and do that, otherwise, I'll make sure everyone lets me know what they're doing and go from there.

How tall is the wall and is there a way for us to see Avianna from our side of it?

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

The fence is 10 foot tall wrought iron bars with a crossbeam a foot off of the bottom and a foot below the top. The tops curve both inward and outward and have "decorative" spearhead-like ends. And yes, you can see her fine.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

A-ha!  Okay, I was imagining a big-ass stone wall around this place.  That's why I thought the gate was where we saw Avianna, because we wouldn't be able to see her otherwise with a stone wall.  This makes more sense though.  Editing post!

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Ok, so the whispering won't work between Avianna and Kuldar if he was inside the house, right?

Also, I thought the group was inside and Renard's the only one making his way out while Kuldar is trying to get the attention of the guard from inside the house with Solomon, who is conflicted about what to do, and Skraag. Am I somewhat correct? Is that where you guys perceive your characters to be?

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

I have a sinking suspicion that a map is going to be needed to clear this all up...sadly, I have a large presentation due on Friday and probably won't have time for one. The being said, if somebody else wants to take the initiative and make a microsoft paint representation for the group, you are more than welcome to.

Avianna, I'm thinking that sounds about right now that I went back and reread the posts leading up to where we are.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

I had a map made out but I don't know how to post them here without a damn URL.

So, with what's happening so far, I'm hoping that the lazy buggers will only send one grumbling guard to investigate the random interloper. Avianna could then follow and knock him out, unseen, take the keys to the gate from him, and unlock it for the group. Ultimately, I think it's up to you guys whether you even want to escape.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

You can upload it to a site like tinypic and use the img tag to put it in here.

As for what happens with the guards, I'll be getting a post up either late tonight but most likely tomorrow. I have a 30 minute facilitation to present tomorrow on the most material-dense, difficult to understand book I think I've ever had to read so that will probably eat up my time today.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

With our oh-so-benevolent DM's permission I wanted to post a link to my game here and see if anyone was interested in joining.

The Scale of the Dragon What Bit Ye:
link to another game

- Pathfinder rules, just like this game.
- Open world game (complete with map!)
- Some neat House Rules.
- Guns and airships, sort of an early steampunk level of technology in some places.
- Plenty of plot hooks for you to find something interesting to do.  There is a main quest line but I dislike railroading so I'm not going to force it.
- Lots of other fun stuff.

If you've got any questions feel free to PM me here or send in my game linked above.  The last thing I want to do is steal games away from the DM here so if you're considering it but you're worried about overloading yourself then just stick with what you've got already.  The last thing I want is for someone to burn themselves out playing in too many games!

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

I'll ask here. Is my somewhat common occurence of being unable to post a strong deterrent? I swear I do my best but it seems RL likes to hit me when it hurts most.

Re: Second Act OOC Chat

Well as much as I'd like all of us to have the time in our lives to post every day, multiple times even, I understand that life gets in the way. Hell, it just did for me for the past 2 days. So the short answer is, no, I'm alright with it, especially since you have such a fun character. I mean, a Dwarf riding a war-boar? C'mon. Pretty much goes for everyone here. As long as you don't disappear on me for like a week or so without letting me know what's up, I don't mind if we push the boundaries of the a post per 2 days thing a bit. A couple of you have been with me for more than 6 months while some of you are a little newer but not by much so I don't think a little absence here and there would be grounds to call it a deterrent. Hell, the face that I have 2 games with steady players  at allis pretty much a miracle lol.
