Re: Episode 7-1: Street Dreams

The crowds by that time had thinned out to the point that the streets were quiet and relatively empty. Some of the saloons still had custom, but the occasional bursts of fireworks in the distance followed by a distant hollering seemed to have drawn the crowds away from the cities. Bright lights lit the sky, showers of red, beautiful blues, whites, and even other colors like green sparkled across the sky over Dodge. Sky Dog's trek to the stable wasn't a difficult one, but it was made somewhat more complicated by the darkness. Finding some of the landmarks he had used to note the location of the stable proved more challenging without daylight and other things to take him there.

Just as he caught sight of the place he had used to stable his reindeer, something in one of the nearby alleys between buildings caught the shaman's attention.

The fireworks already had the shaman on edge, looming like fizzing, falling balls of fire to the albino's short yet contrast-focused sight, the explosions making him feel half-deaf and exposed. Some peripheral detail in an alley caught his attention and he looked over, tense.

Re: Episode 7-1: Street Dreams

A tall figure, seemingly cloaked in the shadows between the buildings sprang out at Sky Dog. As he emerged into the negligible light available little could be seen of him, but when a flash of light from a burst of the fireworks lit up his face for a moment, the Siberian could see that he had a drawn face, scraggly grey hair and a horiffic look in his eyes - one of pure and unrestrained murder and menace. His top hat seemed to add to his height, and his tattered but formal clothing seemed to strain against the obvious bulk of muscles. In that same brief flash of light, the glint of metal in his hand was readily seen.

Catching little but the quick brightness of a blade, Sky Dog's hand went at once to his own, the dull steel settling heavy and ready in his palm as he ducked away and came back laughing.

Re: Episode 7-1: Street Dreams

For a moment, for an instant there was a moment of pure horror, but it went away in a flash. The man springing from the darkness caused no terror to the strange man from the top of the world, who had likely seen a lifetime of horrors in his wanderings to a land half a world away. This man, whoever or whatever he was, did not frighten Sky Dog. But neither did the Siberian frighten him away.

The fireworks flashed again, and again the light caught a small blade in his hand. As fast as the flash of the fireworks, he slashed at Sky Dog's head with his blade. The man was faster than a man should be, and his aim was truly lethal.
