Heat a Cold, Burn a Fever...

On the other side of the gate it is cold....VERY cold...like the coldest cold most of the team  has ever experienced. It isn't the cold that gets the attention as much as the gusting winds blowing stinging snow particles all over the place and dropping visibility. The area, as best as can be seen, is a relatively level patch of snowpack surrounded by hills and snowdrifts of varying heights. The team is grateful for the top-level protective clothing provided for the mission but even with it the team knows they wouldn't survive through the night here.

The snowmobiles are heavily fueled, to enable them to keep running. The team knows not to turn them off in this cold or they will never start again. The team has with them a waterproof map and a high-end compass to navigate to the Soviet research facility. The advice given to set up the survival tents upon arrival seems like a good idea once the team feels the cold and the wind, the time spent will be worth it in the long run. Even though it is late morning due to the windblown snow and ice particles the light is significantly dimmed, near white-out conditions during the heaviest gusts. While it will make the trek to the research facility a grind it will also make it exceedingly difficult to be spotted by any patrolling guards if the wind keeps up.
