Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

Not to be a downer, but expect it to last around 3 weeks if it is the latest thing to go around (if not longer).

The flu shots aren't helping this time.  I'm fighting it off and so far have but with a car not working and having to still get to work it is getting harder.

My wife got it really badly, I got just a short brush of it having spent about 20 hours sleeping it off.

sleep.  what a wonderful concept.  Don't get enough of it and yet can't stay awake enough to be productive.

I'm usually short sleep!

I'd forgotten about the load out page.  Strike the comment about Ken taking more weapons.  He'll get some explosive though...

In reply to Ken Jenkins (msg # 484):

No problem, I was a little confused and thought that might be the case.

As it is he may have kept his own weapons (aside from his body pistol) in team stores so I will modify my post to reflect this likelihood.

Thanks,

Tony

I think Billy picked up a survival kit from the Cutter so I added that.

Do we have any kind of carts or cargo haulers?  It might make dragging stuff along with us easier.

In reply to Ken Jenkins (msg # 491):

I'm going to say you have 1 grav platform. For the most part this phase was to establish a base camp on or near the surface. More equipment could be brought down later. But you had 1 grav dolly to move gear and equipment around camp. It's slow but self-powered.

As well sorry for not mentioning Blake in who was going, I've been a little distracted lately for different reasons and occasionally details slip my mind!

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

It sounds like we have sort of a base camp in the corridor between the outside and the hatch leading into the big corridor.  Even for this bit of exploring a grav platform or dolly would be helpful just to lug things like vacc suits and air bottles in case we do have to go into airless areas in our wanderings.

Hey, all:

Joined a few days ago, but it took me this long to get caught up with the action.  Now I know what is going on and what my character has already done, so I'll be able to jump in and start playing her.  So expect Jeri to take a more active role.  :)

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

In reply to Ken Jenkins (msg # 500):

Dang, I keep forgetting I specified the asteroid was spinning at a rapid rate to provide internal gravity through centrifugal force. What this means for the surface is that anything not anchored will start to slowly float away!

The cutters and all other gear are actually stabilised by cables, pitons, staples and so on to the surface. Once you get a section free it will actually start to drift "upwards" away from the surface. You therefore won't need to lift anything but some sort of pulley system to move items around will be needed.

When outside, the surface seems like "up". Likewise, when you are inside and not in an area with functioning grav plates the outer hull seems naturally "down". So far from what you've seen the corridors are set up to take this into account.

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

If the asteroid is rotating and we are in the outer portion of it at the moment wouldn't the whole maintenance tunnel be under the maximum G-loading from the rotation?  The central core of the asteroid should be in zero-G.

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

In reply to Ken Jenkins (msg # 502):

Yes, the tunnel should be under spin gravity, not zero-gee. That it is not is indication that the artificial gravity plates are functioning.

(And it seems rather large to be a maintenance tunnel. Think more like a subway tunnel, and there are several sets of tracks of differing gauges at different points of the circumference to accommodate various types of transportation.)

Re: OOC: Off-Topic Posts II

Ahhhh... good point about the plates canceling the spin gravity!  Certainly easier to run a monorail train in zero g.
