I put that news about Rimon gazzetteer also on AFF2 forum on Arion Games' website...

FYI - I'm a friend of Graham Bottley's and also his proofreader for all of his books since Maelstrom Domesday came into being :)   (so not AFF).

Just thought you'd like to know :D hehhe

Very cool, I like Maelstrom. :)

Oh and Dappa I read the gazetter. Amazing job! :D

Okay I've been thinking and there are a few ways we can go. Like I said I've been looking at adapting some of the gamebooks and a few seem interesting. I've always liked Seas of Blood and having the PCs as pirates could be a lot of fun (so long as we could agree who is leader.)

I have Graham Bottley's AFF version of Crown of Kings which could be very cool (I'm a huge fan of Steve Jackson's Sorcery! books on which it is based.)

Another possibility is adapting the original AFF 1 adventures in Dungeoneer, Blacksand! and Allansia, all of which are worth a look.

Of course if any of you guys do have a preference for settings/adventures I'd love to hear them.

I'm curious - what was left to do in the current story?

Heh. :)

Actually there is quite a lot left in the current story. It hadn't immediately occurred to me since we left it so long ago and I'd have to 'recast' Mannth and Tarrian but returning to our ongoing campaign could work.

Re: Out of Character Chat
You can prepare an "abridged" (or completely alternative) version of the official adventure that we are are running, so we can *somehow* complete it in a reasonable timeframe.

Then it would be a good idea running an AFF2 conversion of the "old" adventure cycle (Dungeoneer-Blacksand!-Allansia) - and then propose the converted adventure (with all improvements from playtesting) to Arion Games (so our friend will have something to proofread!).

The only, minor problem is that the Dungeoneer adventure starts in Chalice, while the Riddling Reaver finished in the middle of the jungle... so you'll have to invent something to take us to Chalice.
I'm sure you'll find out something ;)

Re: Out of Character Chat
By the way, I'd propose to Arion Games also a AFF2 converted Riddling Reaver, but with The Dreaming Sands as first chapter, but set in Kallamehr instead of Port Blacksand, for example, and various other variations coming from playtesting.

In reply to Dappa (msg # 634):

I'm happy to pass on any suggestions you all have :)

I will say that Graham has certain limitations placed on him by the licence so I have no idea what he can and can't do. But I can pass on anything you say :)

In the AFF2 forum of Arion Games website there are already many suggestions (see for example my proposal about the Riddling Reaver here http://www.arion-games.com/bb/...iddling+Reaver#p3722 ).

Yeah, I've put up some homebrew stuff on that forum but nothing really towards recognition.

Alsa Dappa I kind of wish you were less familiar with the adventure we are/were running. ;)

Fair point, even if it does create headaches for me! ;)

Btw I'm considering compiling the work I've done on new gods into a mini-gazetter if you think there would be any interest.

Cool. :) It is still very much at the ideas stage but I want to talk about the other forms of worship too - demon worship, shamanism 'hero/holy man' cults (think the worship of Dalgalla mentioned in Blacksand!)

I know I'm very late to the party but I'm finally getting around to reading the Fighting Fantazine issues too. Looks like good stuff.

Finally working on renewing/restarting our own game, hopefully early next month.

Re: Out of Character Chat
Happy Christmas all!

I know it has been a very long time since I've posted. Well the good news that I've finally finished the first draft of my book and am now trying to find an agent *crosses fingers*.

Also, and more importantly from your perspectives, I have been reading 'You Are The Hero' by Jonathan Green and am very much back in a Fighting Fantasy mood. I think realistically it would be best to begin with a fresh start in a new location and with new characters, at least if people are still interested.

My first idea is to adapt the old Advanced Fighting Fantasy adventures from Dungeoneer, Blacksand! and Allansia. The benefit is that they are already written, though I might have to tweak a few aspects to keep people familiar with the original material from knowing everything.

The second idea is much looser, and inspired by Midnight Rogue. The PCs are a branch of the Thieves Guild in Port Blacksand (though I can change the city if people prefer) dealing with the cutthroat world of being low level thieves in a vermin pit. Thisn't doesn't mean everyone will be Evil in D&D alignment terms but it wouldn't be a good place for would be paladins!

If anyone else has a suggestion I'll happily hear it!

Re: Out of Character Chat
Given the situation and the recent past, I'd suggest you think about a short adventure and then perhaps build on it once its over, because if we embark on another campaign we may never see its end.
