Hey guys, glad we're back on but I won't be able to post until the weekend at the earliest.  Feel free to skip along without me, remember when in doubt Tarrian strangles things.  :)

He had a family day at Legoland yesterday, but I shall nudge him into action :)

Re: Out of Character Chat

It was great. Though I realise one of the reasons I only had one child. We took three of ems friends so I had to keep control of four hyped up nine year old girls.

Luckily we got there early so were waiting about 15 min per ride until lunch time then everyone else turned up and you were suddenly waiting an hour or so per ride.

Anyway the girls fleesed the wife and me out of a cuddly dog each but I thought ahead and made a picnic for us all so we didn't get stung for food.

Also used out tesco points to get the tickets so it only cost £7 per head rather than the usual £30 I think it is now. You could also buy a que buster but that was £15 ahead so it would have cost £90 to go to the front..... It's a lovely place to go had a great time but its a bloody rip off

Re: Out of Character Chat

Quick question .... As Elstarir has his bow out but I would imagine not able to use it in close quarters can he use it as a staff or something and would I use the staff damage table

Re: Out of Character Chat

Sounds great, if exhausting and expensive. Good thinking with the picnic! :)

You can drop your bow and draw a weapon with no penalty but obviously you'll have to win the fight to be able to retrive it later. Slinging the bow around your back and drawing a weapon will leave you unable to attack but able to parry (you cause no damage if you win the first attack round.)

You can use your bow as a weapon - use your basic SKILL and the Staff damage table.  If you roll a double 6 the bow will break (the wood is of good quality and craftsmanship but not really intended to be used as a melee weapon.)

Re: Out of Character Chat

Just a quick reminder; if you lose an attack round don't forget to roll how much damage you take and your armour roll (if any).

Do we need to post all the OOC stuff in the thread?  I mean like the dice rolls and stuff?

Yes, thanks.  Not an ironclad rule but I find it sort of helpful to keep track.

(If for any reason you want to keep an action secret PM me.)

I covered that didn't I?

Elsewhere the drunken barbarians are entirely focused on crushing the Elf and the Thief before them.  The one Mannath wounded is practically foaming at the mouth as he brings his heavy bladed axe around for the next swing.

Re: Out of Character Chat

Elstarir swung at his one with a bow - I know he rolled a few roles, but I'm not sure - does your text cover that attack? (I guess he thinks it does not as the last th ing he said to me was he waiting for the GM to say how his attack went and what happens next)

I'll send him a text to get him to grab five mins on the comp :D

Re: Out of Character Chat

Yeah I think it was a mutal miscommunication. :)

He made rolls and the barbarian he was fighting won, so I sort of assumed the damage he rolled represented the blow of the barbarian's axe.

Actually which way do you guys want to handle damage the PC takes in 'ordinary' combat? In her last post Tarrian lost the combat round and wrote in taking a blow to the head (luckily being a barbarian she doesn't have much to damage up there ;).  I'm cool with that way of doing things but if anyone prefers I can describe the specific damage you take.

Re: Out of Character Chat

Personally I would prefer to narate things myself, but with maybe a nudge - so if you are narrating say "Vithrain, you failed that roll so will need to narrate damage".

I say that, because there is also the "Luck" get-out-clause that means that you can spend a Luck to negate the damage down to 1. If you've already narrated worse damage than that it breaks the flow for me to then say "actually...."

That's just my opinion though :)

Re: Out of Character Chat

Sounds fair. :)

Generally speaking if a combat has some special factor in play (such as a fight against a Giant Snake where there is a chance of being swallowed alive) I'll ask you take the appropriate saving throw (normally a Test vs. LUCK) before dealining with damage narration.

Re: Out of Character Chat

Hi there sorry for not getting back sooner.

Yes the elf tried to hit with his bow and failed so I rolled the damage for the barbarian's axe sadly it looks like my elf doesn't have armour so I took the full damage.

Re: Out of Character Chat

Since people are involved in seperate fights I thought I'd experiment by splitting the posts up. If it doesn't work for you guys we can go back to the one 'master post' format. :)

Re: Out of Character Chat

I like the separate posts.

Just one thing - did you edit an earlier post regarding the cat and minotaur....it's just that I read the latest post and was like "huh!? she's already defeated him?? when!??" then had to scroll back and re-read earlier posts to find out that she'd already beaten the minotaur to a pulp (before my last PM to the GM!)

I may have tried to act while invisible BEFORE she jumped out of the ring had I seen that change...

Now I'll have to either leave her be and help my friends/brother, or act blooming quick to get the ring before my 3minute spell runs out.

{edit} Of course it could just be that I didn't see the first few lines of text...I read about the fighter woman going wide eyed then backing away....but not the bit before that....so it probably was my own fault. However the individual posts would work better for me.
