The Handmaiden:
On this occasion we can take with us (well covered while we are in town) the shield of Rangor... can we?

Looks like, after all, the Handmaiden will stay at the Palance and work on her laces...

Well... while the Handmaiden could have been Lady Carolina in disguise, Dappa... well... not.

Okay I've set up an interlude thread to finish up loose ends in the city. So far this concerns Tarrian and mannath but if the rest of you want to do something before the adventure moves on I'm all ears. :)

Thanks. Do we need to buy anything for our travels? I'm not sure what it will entail but it seems sensible to go shopping before we depart.

Heh. :)

I was sort of waiting to see if the brothers Elven had anything they wanted to do. If not I'll move ahead to the inn and let Dappa introduce himself.

Um... okay but the rest of the party will be meeting Dappa there for the first time. It's not really a problem if you want Vithrain to do something else (and assume introductions are made offscreen) but I think you should know ahead of time.

NGR:Have you Dudes been catching 'Vikings' dramatic series on the History Channel?  If you're at all interested in Dark Age/Medieval European history at all.  You find it is as good as 'The Walking Dead. It's second season has just started.
If you haven't, but if you would like to.  You can go to the History Channel website and watch the whole 1st season and the two episodes of the second season that has already aired.

I'd heard about it but haven't seen an episode.  To be honest I was sort of irrationally put off that series was set in Britain rather than Ireland.  Normally that wouldn't bother me in the least but the Irish media made a huge deal about it being filmed in Wicklow as an Irish co-production and starring one of our own (Gabriel Byrne).

Like I said I know I'm being completely irrational but I sort of view it as a missed opportunity.

Re: Out of Character Chat

What the people of Ireland need to make is a Movie about Brian Boru.  At least at the level of production that 'Braveheart' was made at.  I knew right after that movie came out in '95', a movie script based on Morgan Llywelyn's book, 'The Lion of Ireland' was being shopped around in Hollywood.  But nothing ever got green lighted.  I read that book when it first came out, in 82.  It is one of my all time favorites, right up there with LOTR.  If you haven't read it yet, you should.
Then last decade there was talk of Leonardo DiCaprio heading up a unrelated production in Ireland and taking the starring role.  But nothing came from it.

But you should really give 'Vikings' a viewing.

Re: Out of Character Chat

I think we missed our chance on Brian unfortunately - the anniversay is on 23 April.  Maybe if the recession hadn't hit us...

Grousing aside I'll give Vikings a go; I mean I was okay with seeing someone I actually know play English on Merlin (and get a huge boost to their career) so I can't be too hypocritical! :)

Re: Out of Character Chat

What about Wales ..... no one wants to film in Wales and we were raped and pillaged by the vikings as much if not more so than the English.....its where my last name comes from....... goes off and sulks in a corner

Oh and the shell house scenes in Harry Potter doesn't count even though its on a beach very close to where my parents live.....and please don't mention the battle scene from Robin Hood with russell Crow in that definitely doesn't count :p

Clontarf, right?  Wow, 1,000 year anniversity this year!  Is there anyone over there making a big deal of that?

A little, though I think the government missed a trick in not having proper large scale celebrations.

Hmm, I hadn't counted on people outright staying another night - I'd assumed everyone would be leaving this evenin. I'll try and get an IC post up later today or tomorrow.
