Re: Scene One: Tower Trouble
Vithrain notices every twitch of emotion that runs across the man's face and files the details away for future use and dissemination as required. He may have been cowed for a few seconds, but now he, Vithrain, had the intellectual upper hand!
"Captain Jafar, while I have at my command a rather useful and impressive spell, that could quite easily take out this man, the risk to your Baron is not to be trifled with. Should they move it might strike the wrong man; should it hit the right man it might mean your Baron is let go and topples over the edge. I fear me that the risk is just too great! But if you insist I shall of course try.
As to the other matter, there is a possibility that I may be able tell if there is an ensorcelment on the baron. Does he have any magic about his person normally, or any magical items?"
Vithrain straightens his back as he says all this and becomes the imposing scholar that he truly is.
"I will also tell you that three of my colleagues, one of which is my esteemed younger brother, have entered the tower. Unusually I have not had any signal from my brother since he entered. I fear they may be in trouble and would counsel that you get as many of your best men inside as quickly as possible!"
