Re: OOC

And now for something completely different. A proposed card game to make gambling more interesting.

Dragon's Hoard

Dragon's Hoard is a card game played with a deck of 40 cards, four of each card from one through nine and four Dragon cards (Kings). Each player is given four cards at the start of the game. Each round, the player draws one card from either the discard zone or the draw pile and then either activates a card in their hand or discards a card from their hand.

When a card is activated, the player places it by them face up. Discarded cards are placed in the center of the table face down. Discarded cards are placed side by side rather than on top of one another. Cards that are activated by a player are their Hoard. A player may only activate cards and place them into their own Hoards. A Hoard can only have as many as four cards in it, and a player can have as many Hoards as they want.

A Hoard can be stolen if, before the owner's next turn, another player activates a card with the same face value. If a Hoard has only one card in it, anyone can steal it at any time by activating a card of the same face value and placing it into the Hoard or by activating a Dragon and placing it into the Hoard. Dragons are wild and a Hoardwith a Dragon in it cannot be stolen unless the Hoard's only card is a Dragon card and the second Dragon card is played by the stealing player before the owner's next turn.

The objective of the game is to have the most points. Points are scored from completed Hoard, and Hoards can be completed in any of the following ways:

A Hoard consists of all four Dragon cards: 10 points
A Hoard consists of all four cards of the same face value: 5 points
A Hoard consists of four cards of which three have a total sum of the other one: 4 points
A Hoard consists of four cards with different face values with a total range of just four integers, with all cards within one integer of at least one other (Straight): 3 points
A Hoard consists of two pairs of cards of two different face values: 2 point
A Hoard which is owned by the player after the final card is played which does not fit any other criteria: 1 point

When all cards have been played, the game is over and the points are tallied.

Re: OOC

That batman thing was weird.

I kind of like the card game, but does it end when all 40 cards are in a hoard, when the draw pile is out, or do you re shuffle the discard pile into the draw pile to keep going?

You should also look into rules about cheating, and how certain skill roles will determine in game affects on the gambling game.

Re: OOC

The current idea would be that the game ends when all 40 cards are in a hoard. Once the draw pile is depleted, players will continue to draw from the discarded card zone every round until those are all gone. Once there are no discarded cards either, the remaining cards are placed into hoards to end the game.

Our Helix,
Who art in fossil.
Hallowed be your shell,
Your evolution come,
Your will be done
In Kanto, as it is in Sinnoh,
Give us this day our daily gym badge,
And forgive us our start spam,
As we have forgiven those who pressed down on the ledge,
And lead us not into the way of the Domed One
But deliver us from Eevee,
For thine is the move-set, the rare candy, and the SS Anne ticket.

Amen

Re: OOC

Day 1

I started on my Pokemon journey today! Professor Birch was getting attacked by a wild Pokemon, so I grabbed a Torchic from his bag and killed it mercilessly and save his life! He thanked me by letting me keep it, but told me I should go talk to his son Brendan who was waiting on the outskirts of the next town.

I named my new Torchic "Little Mac" to express his fighting spirit and we were off. However, I anticipated a battle, and so I brought Little Mac to the first patch of tall grass that I could find. For hours, I had Little Mac mercilessly kill the wild woodland creatures, with occasional naptime at Mom's house. Eventually, Little Mac evolved and, satisfied with the wave of carnage we had left in our wake, we moved onto the next town.

We soon found Brendan, and he asked me to spar with him. He sent out his Mudkip and I sent out Little Mac. He thinks that just because he's friendly and is the son of the professor that I will go easy on him. He was wrong. I had Little Mac set that Mudkip on fire, and wipe that smile from his face! He quickly fled to the town to heal his Mudkip and told me he was going to return to his father.

I returned to town and talked to the Professor. He gave me a Pokedex and told me to be on my way. I stopped to say goodbye to Mom and was off on my journey, slaying everything that got in my way or locked eyes on me. Little Mac's bloodlust would be sated, but it was never enough. He grew stronger and stronger. Soon, we were in a new town, where Dad was the gym leader. He didn't want to fight me though, instead he sent me to babysit some loser as he caught his first Pokemon. A Ralts! A psychic type... Little Mac and I looked at each other knowingly. This boy was surely planning on toppling Little Mac! But we let him continue for now. It will be better to ruin him after he has something to lose.

With nothing else there for me, I continued through the forest to the next town. The leaves of the trees were decorated by carnage and cinders as Little Mac and I emerged. We struck down some goon on our way and the worm he was attacking rewarded us with a Great Ball. Once in town, Little Mac crushed the gym leader in a flurry of kicks and we moved on. Another goon had kidnapped a Pokemon, it seemed, and so we went into the cave to teach him a lesson. The Pokemon's owner was thankful but quickly fled. We were then brought to the headquarters of a major corporation, where we were rewarded for our good deeds with errands and a map.

We were done with this pathetic landmass anyway. Little Mac's powers were too great. It had become impossible to capture more soldiers for my army even if I had wanted to! I made one last attempt to capture a Pokemon and finally caught a Wingull. I named him Rufflepants, so as to humiliate my foes as the jester of the seas slays them all! We then went to the old man's house and he sailed us to the next island. I immediately spoke to the townspeople who, as usual, had nothing of interest to say. Except for a little boy. He had the gall to suggest that some nonsense or another was "hip and happening" to which I promptly informed him that the truly cool thing was "Romantic Kindergarten." It was complete rubbish, but he bought it. Simple-minded fool.

Another man asked me if I liked fishing, and I lied, knowing that he would give me a free fishing rod. I went fishing and immediately found a Magikarp, which I named Filet-O-Fish. Truly, one day he shall be a delicious meal. I then reported to the gym, but the sign said something about waves. I anticipated a battle with water Pokemon, and so I continued into a tunnel near the town in search of wild Pokemon. In time, I caught an Abra -- which I inexplicably named Lewis -- and an Aron, which I named Hold Aggron due to my love of MMORPGs and puns. None of these Pokemon would help me against the likes of water Pokemon, but I had resigned myself. Little Mac would boil them all alive and eat them for dinner!

Then, after all of my effort, it turns out that it was a fighting-type gym the whole time! Little Mac mercilessly pecked every Pokemon in the gym into oblivion and I was soon another badge richer. Now, armed with the ability to light darkness, I returned to the cave to deliver a letter to an old man. I then returned to the company which had so forcefully commissioned my work and received an actual reward! Filet-O-Fish now holds it, and as it absorbs the souls of my foes he gains power! Soon... Soon...
