Re: A Game of Throws

well that kinda sucks

Somewhat disappointed in her companions inaction, and suspicious they were hoping the agency pair did gain entry, so they could continue their bloodbath, Vibro tried one last time to impede their progress.

Not really sure what a security door would actually sound like if it could talk, Vibro hoped no one else was any the wiser.

The light near the door turned green, and a split second later the room erupted in a cacophony of sound.  Despite the raucous of an alarm blaring, an electronic voice was clearly discernible. "Unauthorised access detected. Security defences armed.".

"That is not my alarm," the door responded.

Despite the warning, the door slid open anyway. As it pulled to the side, Crossfire watched the woman take something from her bra and drop it to the floor, causing an eruption of smoke the moment it touched. Both of them pulled something over their eyes as white gas poured into the room, obscuring everything in sight. To make matters worse, it began to sting the team's eyes, causing them to blink and tear up.

Yelling to be heard over the sound of the false security system, the man's voice announced, "FBI! Stay where you are and put your weapons down now. Disable the security system right now!"

OOC-everyone make a resilience check (yes, there will be negative modifiers). Crossfire, being a military guy this is a good place to roll a knowledge of some sort if you have it to know what this is.
Aslo, Vibro and Crossfire, you would both know that the man is on your right side as you are facing the door, the woman on the left. Let me know exactly where you are in accordance to the door, either in your next post on in a PM with your roll. If you're going to try something to avoid the smoke, post your action/attempt and include your roll in a PL in your next post.

"Don't shoot but stay where you are, we're mercenaries here to save Joe Blackfur and his family from a hostile takeover."

To avoid her targeting his voice then Crossfire then flew to 1m behind the female agent using his XRay vision to see through the teargas.

*sigh*

some people will never know the lengths I've gone to to save their life

Perhaps affected by the gas momentarily, or perhaps simply unable able to hide her dissapointment that the agency couple have ignored her 'subtle' attempts to go play elsewhere, one may have detected a tear start to form before Vibro instinctively reacted to the deployment of the smoke grenade, thinking to herself I have to get myself one of those 'conceal a grenade' bra.

Meanwhile, QuikGayElf, catching a brief glimpse of the assailants, decided that looking like their target was probably not the best road to a long and healthy life.  Besides, SHE has MUCH nicer nostrils, and under the cover of smoke morphed into what she hoped was a passable likeness for the female FBI agent.

Re: A Game of Throws

Crossfire knew that the teargas was more of a smoke-bomb. A more discreet tool to do the same job, but for not as long due to its size. Its job was to give the user an advantage, and that it did. It was also why he didn't pick up on it before, even though he had given the woman's breasts a good long glance, as a precaution only of course. Women often concealed items in their bra, he was convinced, confirmation aided by this display. He'd never had the balls to ask Vibro about it though.

Despite its diminutive nature, the gas was still potent enough. It hit crossfire as he tried to plunge through it, causing his vision to blur and his eyes to water and burn. He was forced to blink repeatedly during his attempt to fly over the woman, rendering his X-ray vision all but useless. But he caught just enough to see the woman catch sight of him, peering at him through her goggles. Staying low, it seemed as though she raised her phone to aim it at him.

QuickSuger-Baby, or his best memory of her, sniffed at the smoke with her new nostrils and shook it off with a couple of blinks. Though she couldn't see past the smoke, neither was it bothering her lizardy senses. But she lost sight of Vibro and Crossfire immediately.

Somehow, Vibro's quick reaction allowed the smoke to pass right through her. Lost in the smoke, she had no trouble opening her eyes, though it was still difficult to see through. Her ears were unhindered however, and picked up a mumbled "Oh Fuck me," from Snookems, followed directly after by a louder "Goddammit I said STAND DOWN! STAND DOWN OR WE WILL BE FORCED TO TAKE ACTION!" which was heard by everyone.

OOC-Keep to order of initiative. Your goes, except Crossfire needs to resolve his first. Anyone who cannot see through the smoke, all attacks are treated to the effect of blindness, -60%. Keep track of CAs.

Observing that she noticed him Crossfire didn't stop just behind her as he'd intended. He kept flying about 3 inches above the floor until he was out the doorway and clear of the smoke. He kept his "Dealer of Death" leveled at the she cop the whole time.

Re: A Game of Throws

Ignoring the offer but using Sonar to pinpoint her target, Vibro glided gracefully around to his right in a semi-crouching spin, if one could see her semi transparent form through the smoke, you could have been forgiven in thinking the manouver was destined to take her wide, perhaps in an attempt to escape. That is until, and with a suddeness designed to catch her opponent offguard, Vibro spun furiously in an upwards arc, her outstretched hand aimed at the centre of his goggles with a punishing knife-hand strike.

OOC - corrected grammar

Re: A Game of Throws

QuikSugar-Baby wondered briefly if her companions had fled, or if they had simply rushed into the smoke to continue the violence without her. How rude

If QuikSugar-Baby was more familiar with the nuances of human law enforcement, she may have thought to herself ... Where are those two chefs, and which one of them is an undercover cop and alerted the FBI?. Alas, having no such insight, instead QuikSugar-Baby simply charged straight towards the door where the closest of the newcomers was last seen. Arms outstretched, maximising her catchment area.

Re: A Game of Throws

Chaos burst forth in the doorway as the entire team went into action.

First Crossfire did his best to keep a visual as he manoeuvred around the female agent. Unsure of what was happening through the smoke and tears, he failed to see anything but the sparks that flashed only briefly, lighting up the cloud in a bright static display all around him. Whatever she was doing, it hadn't affected him. At least not yet. He struggled to position himself, having only the walls to guide him.

Meanwhile, Snookems' attention was pulled to the sight of his own partner charging straight for him. He stumbled back with a grunt, though it proved unnecessary due to his crouching position and the high and wide span of QuikSugar-Baby's flailing arms. It was enough to allow Vibro to ghost in and land a solid invisible touch with deadly accuracy. She didn't even disturb the smoke. The edge of her hand contacted directly with the center of the goggles, the blast of an inaudible - to all but Vibro - sound wave smashing them into a multitude of pieces which caused the man to yelp and wince from the effect. He lashed out wildly with his phone, causing another mini-static storm that raised the hairs on the more human in the group.

Through the haze, Vibro could follow the movements, though details were unattainable. But with ears like hers, one could be blind and still know what was happening. Except for with Crossfire. She knew that the mini light-show in the cloud wasn't his doing. All of the team now had confirmation that the the devices in the agents' hands were more than just phones.

OOC- Already used up the FBI guys' actions. Back to you, from the top. Battle boxes please in the post, PL to me of course.
Just to be clear where we're at, Crossfire can't see - no, not even with the X-ray. You failed your resilience roll, so your eyes are burning. Once again, treat any action as you would going in blind. -60% for actions requiring sight. Vibro and QuikSugar-Baby can't see either, but your eyes are not on fire. Vibro, because you can rely on sound, a successful perception check will allow you to attack with no penalties.

OOC - I assume its the top of the next round as I've used up all my CA's for the first round (starting before the door opened) Do we reroll initiative, or does it carry over?

I can't keep this up for much longer.

Continuing her spin, giving the crackling electrical light show a wide berth but otherwise seemingly unhindered by the presence of others near the doorway, Vibro moved through the open door and towards the female FBI agent. As she moved Vibro formed a concentrated ball of sound energy, focusing on the head of the agent before her and unleashing it in an ear splitting burst, hoping to daze her long enough to move past and down the hallway.

Re: A Game of Throws

The electrical light show changed the game completely for QuikSugarBaby. With the smoke lit up around him, the FBI agent was silhouetted perfectly along with the doorway which led to the hall. Neither of his companions were in sight.

Earthlings have very poor manners, they've left without even saying goodbye.

Briefly weighing up her options, QuikSugarBaby decided maybe she should join her companions in the rout, and proceeded through the doorway towards the 2nd lightening display which could only mean the presence of the 2nd agent. On the way deciding her disguise could be more plausible and morphed into Timex, wishing he'd paid more attention to the gnarled fighter's features, and less to Citizen's ridiculous costume.

Re: A Game of Throws

The cloud of gas was already starting to dissipate, and the chaos begot confusion. The team's quick actions were a storm amongst themselves upon the ill-equipped FBI agents. With Crossfire and Vibro both disappearing within smoke, and Quiksit's ever-changing personality, the couple found only themselves, dealing with a situation far above their paygrade.

The last thing that the female FBI agent saw was an obscure image of Timex before her head snapped back, hands to her ears from the burst of sound that engulfed her. Her high pitched squeal was lost in that overwhelming noise, but not to Vibro. It was a  sound of satisfaction and success, and a queue to move on through. The sound of her hitting the floor ass first was the only indicator of where she was.

Crossfire found his way along the wall silently, avoiding any contact with any other person. The ploy of 'Two can play at that game' was likely his best move. If he couldn't see them, neither should they see him. Though that blast of sound came dangerously close to him. And then something slapping the floor. Was that the FBI? Or one of his partners?

Above the sounds of scrambling came the male agent's voice. Vibro was well familiar with the tones of stress and uncertainty that carried through his timber, just over his elevated heartbeat.

"Whoa! Okay, just...Hold on! Clearly we've got the wrong room. Is this not the stage?...Ahem... How about we all just calm down and talk this out, hm? Here now... I'm putting my gear on the floor." The clacker of something hard followed.

Muttering near inaudibly, his partner whined, "I don't get paid enough for this."

"Don't follow us, don't look at us, don't even think of us.  Someone has to do what the authorities can't, be thankful for the help."

The whispered words were audible only to Snookems.  The lack of anyone in close proximity to him may have given pause for thought.  The threatening undertone was crystal clear however.

Vibro continued moving past the female agent and out of the smoke. Once clear of the smoke Vibro's form became more tangible, her footsteps once again solid on the floor.  She signalled to Crossfire on the way past to continue moving, hoping the three companions would rendevous at the elevators before the agents had regained their senses and decided to pursue.

The lights went out and QuikTimex found himself alone once again in the dissipating smoke.  His measured pace returning to a chaotic charge as he continued moving down the hall at pace, arms and tail flailing wildly.

Once clear of the smoke and seeing Vibro again Quiksit's charge once again became a measured run as he easily caught up with his companion.

No goodbye's?  And I thought we were friends.  Is Crossfire not joining us?

Crossfire followed Vibro into the lift, still flying for stealth.

With a theatrical wave of his hand he switched the direction the light was bending. Now the image of the whole corridor 10 feet ahead of him was projected to 10 feet behind him. This effectively made the team invisible from the room since all the agents would see was the empty corridor in front of the team.

Re: A Game of Throws

All three members of the small contingent emerged more or less unaffected by the conflict they had just left behind in a literal cloud of smoke. Crossfire's path had been a slower one, sliding along the wall after the sound of a giant rampaging lizard. Godzilla made less noise. He was lucky that the person waving him over was his teammate and not the other luring him in. His blurred vision made it too difficult to tell the difference.

With the gas thinning now, silhouettes were becoming visible within. The form of the female darted over to the male, and then made a move to pursue, but was caught and held back. "No no. Don't," was the urgent and shaken whisper from Snookems that only Vibro caught.  Apparently her words had some effect after all. That, or the crazy shapeshifting lizard stomping through. Or both.

Perhaps they would change their mind when the smoke cleared, to see only three average looking individuals standing there.

Re: A Game of Throws

QuikTimex pondered for a moment. Who is this Pronto? I thought I was in the form of the pugilist they called Timex. How strange.
Checking his disguise, QuikTimex looked closely at his image in the mirrored wall of the elevator, shuddering noticeably at how ugly the form these humans chose to wear actually was.

Restraining himself from returning to his own rather more attractive looks, instead QuikTimex returned to the not-so-attractive, but hopefully more familiar image of QuikFNB. There, surely they must recognize me now. How could one forget nostrils such as these?

In all of this, the doors to the elevator slowly began to close. The intent behind Vibro's pleading words completely lost in his alien logic.

It was an uncomfortable silence the three stood in momentarily as they waited for someone to do...something. The air was thick with expectation and urgency, though nothing moved in those moments. The doors remained closed, for now, and two pairs of eyes slid from the doors to the even uglier version (and that was saying something) of the seasoned fighter, pleasantly wading through his own thoughts, oblivious.
