Re: A Game of Throws

Vibro had to doubletake as Quiksit spoke, momentarily she thought Cal had suddenly appeared in the corridor, the voice was eerily accurate right down to the "I'm God's gift to humanity" smarmy attitude.

A split second from committing the team to a violent resolution to the situation, Vibro held back and decided to go along with Quiksit's valiant attempt to save the guard's life,  not a litte bemused as to why the sudden concern over human life, and wondering which of them had taken his fancy. Neither appeared to be particularly nostril-ly endowed.

Ushering WolfInTheLineOfFire towards the door, Vibro began to lecture the guards. "What Cal is trying to say, in his egotistical, male chauvenustic, homosexually repressed manner, is that the Security Officer and Henchperson Union has mandated a minimum 4 female officers in active roles for every 10 male officers to address the obvious gender imbalance in this vertical. Furthermore, all employees in positions of authority are to wear behavioural modifying electrostatic straps to assist with the transition. You might be interested to know that recent research indicates that a higher female employee quotient is not only beneficial for morale; but results in a working environment that is less stressful and increases overall emplovee job satifaction. Furthermore, it has been proven that detainees and hostages that are allowed regular visits with loved ones are more cooperative and less likely to cause trouble.  "

Crossfire waited patiently at the end of the corridor for things to go to plan, or at least for the gang to enter into the room without disturbing the door gorillas.

QuickCal rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders a little, then nodded his head towards the door to indicate that the door gorilla should open it.

Re: A Game of Throws

The silence stretched as the two guards stood rigid through the verbal onslaught. Their faces gave little away under those aviator sunglasses and Tom Sellick styled mustaches. But something in their demeanor suggested that they might be less than comfortable around the new girl and her acidic tongue.

"Jesus Cal, you almost had us worried. Nobody gave us the heads-up about the, uh, strap thing. Should have a word with communications, you know?"

Both guards seemed a touch more relaxed, though the silent one never removed his hand from the bulge under his jacket. But the door swung open anyway and the team gained a clear view into the room. It appeared just as it was on screen. Vibro heard the first breath exhaled out of Joe since they all arrived at the door.

But they had only just gained entry.

OOC: It would have been so much cleaner to paste them....

QuickCal stepped authoritatively into the room.  Smiled at the guards inside and then headed for the minibar with a look of relief.

While mixing a drink and with his back to the room QuikCal said clearly but flippantly, "The chief has earned himself a conjugal visit. The whole family can have a 10 minute talk alone in the bedroom first up."

Re: A Game of Throws

Vibro smiled at the guard she had just been about to assault and dropped the sound barrier before turning and ushering WolfCrappedHisDacksInTheCorridor through the door after QuikCal.

She closed the door behind her and looked around, noting the sideboard that she could move to infront of the door as a barricade if needed.

As QuikCal spoke Vibro made no attempt to alter the sounds. She had rarely felt so exhausted. I hope the lizard can kill quietly. Seeing a comfy chair near the guard, Vibro slumped down and nodded towards the TV. "What's on the box?"

Re: A Game of Throws

The doors closed with the guards still in the hall, settling back into their previous positions and talking quietly among themselves. They paid no attention to the half-hidden Crossfire lurking silently further down. This was just as well, because now Crossfire cast his gaze through the wood, brick and drywall to watch the other two within, but hearing nothing.

The guard on the inside raised an eyebrow at the entrants as they settled in, keeping an eye on them all as he moved slowly toward QuikCal. QuikCal earned a turn with the scathing glare Joe's wife was serving around, but it softened a touch as she caught sight of her husband. Joe made himself busy immediately by embracing first his wife, followed by the children that obviously ignored Vibro's comment. Vibro could hear the soft words of greetings and reassurances from each of them as they huddled together as only kin with long periods of separation would.

"Well aren't they just adorable." The guard sidled up next to quikCal, keeping an eye on the room at large. "What's up Cal? Why the change up?" He took a moment to look him in the eyes, the turned them on Vibro. "And who's the broad?"

It was about then that Crossfire had a good look at the inside guard. What he saw was no less than daunting.

Re: A Game of Throws

QuickCal raised a finger and an eye and the corner of him icky wet looking human lip in a just wait a minute gesture while he watched for the family to depart into the spare room.
There was that tiny hint in his gesture that there was going to be important news once the family were out of earshot.  At least that was the hint he hoped was there.

QuickCal skillfully cast a glance up and down the guard that was beside him, and his keen senses told him that the guy would just about fit in a standard size coffin.

Re: A Game of Throws

Vibro tried desperately to pinpoint the source of her unease, but couldn't put her finger on it. There was something odd about the way the guard spoke, was it his voice, was it what he had said, was it how he said it, or was she just jumping at shadows? Damn she was so tired, it hurt just to think.

With the family gone, Vibro new it wouldn't be long before her Alien friend started feasting on the guard's entrails. She reached over and turned the volume on the TV up a couple of decibels and flicked through the channels looking for something violent. Partly to help conceal the guard's terrified screams, and partly because the noise was somewhat soothing.

OOC: Has the family left the room?

QuikCal produced a small zip seal package from in his clothing and proceeded to prepare a line on the coffee table.
He placed his laser rifle, which looked pretty much like an older style mobile phone with a slight aerial on the coffee table beside the line he was cutting.

Re: A Game of Throws

The family, still in a huddled state, worked their way into another room and shut the door, leaving the two teammates alone with the guard.

The guard watched Joe and his family until the door was shut, then turned back and frowned. QuikCal had picked up his laser rifle and dipped the aerial in the line, and then raised it to his 'fake' nose and snorted the flour. He looked really satisfied for an instant, then dipped the aerial a second time and held it out to the guard beside him with a smile. Perplexed, the guard shook his head and waved it away, squinting at him for a moment as he tried to work something out. Eventually he shook out of it and picked up where he'd left off.

"Alright, now what the hell? You wanna tell me what's happening?"

As Carnage stood mindlessly in the control room amongst the gore, Cal tried to get his attention.

"Hey. Skinny-jeans. Why don't you switch the sound on so we can hear what's happening in there. It's the one on the left of my console that says AUP-ON." He nodded to the screen that showed the Penthouse with Vibro, QuikCal and the guard.

OOC: Carnage you idiot...

"Boss is selling the place to the Yaks.". Half murmered, half hissed QuikCal, trying to look simultaneously frustrated and a little despondent.

QuikCal lowered his arm a little.. not removing the blow from reach... but no longer offering it so much as simply holding it there... making it clear that he wasn't concerned if the guard took it or not.

Even a dumb grunt like Carnage knew the answer to that trick. Leveling Vera in a firing position he said

"don't kill em unless they move or call out, don't use Vera unless I have to"

"Trying to get me to turn that on is pretty bloody close to acting up, you really wanna die - punk"

Vibro stood and made her way over to QuikCal and the guard, replying to QuikCal's comment with an obvious tone of contempt.

"And you boggle eyed white fucks think that because I'm Asian I must be Chinese Mafia and therefore by hiring me it will give you some sort of inside running in the negotiations."

And then added a little more philosophically.

"But who am I to complain, you lot might be fuckin' stupid but at least I'm earning a fortune out if it."

"Selling?!" The guard looked stunned. "What? How? It's Injin reservation land and property! Oh...Hah Hah." His tone suggested that he'd finally caught on to the joke. "You're fucking with me. Okay. Seriously, what's going on?"

He looked at Vibro. "You sure got a mouth on you. Care to make better use of it? My shift ends in a couple hours." A wink.

Cal shrugged despondently and looked at his feet. When he looked back, his eyes narrowed.

"Something wrong with you?"

"It is a package deal... the place comes with a whole Indian family, just like it did for us."

QuikCal then proceeded to snort the blow on his laser rifle again... dipped it again and held it out loosely where the guard could take it if he chose to... meanwhile he began subtly lining up the aerial with the guards brain pan.

Crossfire took his time as he lined up the first door guard and squeezed the trigger at short range.

For some reason no-one would ever know he muttered under his breath "3 rounds my arse, gotta get back down there quick smart".

Vibro's keen senses picked up the sharp intake of breath from the guard as she attempted to grab his jacket and pull it tightly closed, thus preventing him from drawing his weapon.
