It's time to level up!
First, I should warn you that most level up situations will not be quite this robust in the future. This beefy advancement is mostly due to being a bunch of people who are really starting to wrap their brains around having supernatural powers. Take this as an indicator of acceptance that you're different. (Sorry, my corporate America HR experience/PTSD just kicked in.) Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
5 improvement rolls for skills used so far or trained
4 Hero Points (I have already added these to your character sheets)
5 improvement rolls on Power or Combat skills*
1 new power (not category, must be based on current categories. I will work with you individually on this to make sure we're all on the same page.)
5% added to Element skill (I have already added these to your character sheets)
*Some powers are rolled based on a skill (like Persistence). These do not count as power or combat skills. Power skills are Projection, Manipulation, Extra Energy, etc. while Combat skills are Martial Arts, rifle, etc. and are listed accordingly on your character sheet.
Improvement rolls
- Select the skill to be increased and roll 1D100. Add the Adventurer’s INT characteristic to the result of the 1D100 roll.
- If this 1D100 result is greater than the skill’s current score, the skill increases by 1D4+1 points.
- If this 1D100 result is equal to or less than the skill’s current score, the skill only increases by one point.
- Improvement roll modifier: Check your character sheet just under your Characteristics and find this heading. If there is a number there, you add this to your total number of improvement rolls. Example, if yours says "+1" you have a total of 6 improvement rolls for this round of improvement.
- It is possible to "store" improvement rolls. Reasons to do this are below.
- You can also "stack" improvement rolls, meaning using more than one roll on a single skill. However this can only be done if the skill was used multiple times with at least one success. You would not be able to stack for a skill that was just learned or required divine intervention to succeed. Stacking subject to GM discretion.
- Example: Chakan wishes to increase his Athletics which is currently at 35. He spends an improvement roll and rolls 1D100. The result is 29, however he then adds his INT score of 16 for a total of 45. Since this is higher than this current skill, he then rolls 1D4+1 and adds that total to his current skill. The result is 4, his Athletics score is now 39. Had his 1D100 + INT been 35 or less, however, his new Athletics score would be 36.
Learning new skills through improvement rolls
- An Adventurer can learn a new Advanced Skill through spending improvement rolls. Two improvement rolls give the Adventurer the Advanced skill at its basic characteristic-derived score.
- Some Advanced skills however, cannot be learned through simply spending improvement rolls. If you would like to utilize some of your improvement rolls to obtain new skills, please let me know as I want to ensure it makes sense to do so without training or you can store improvement rolls for future skill obtainment, this must be declared.
Improving Characteristics
- You can improve your characteristic scores, but it ain't cheap. It costs as many improvement rolls as your current score; hence, improving a characteristic from 10 to 11 would cost 10 improvement rolls.
- In almost every case, one would need to store improvement rolls to enable this but, again, must be declared.
