Ponyville Residential District - The TARDIS
-=TARDIS=-

Time and Relative Dimension in Space; the TARDIS is both The Doctor's home and means of transportation, along with being a curiously sentient device all on its own.  Larger on the inside than it is on the outside, the TARDIS has become semi-permanently parked in Ponyville for the time being, mostly due to it being an unreliable, obsolete TT Type 40, Mark 3.  Its normally malfunctioning chameleon circuit has fluctuated, making it appear at least somewhat at home in Equestria.  Despite its unassuming outward appearance, the TARDIS will not open to anyone but The Doctor... usually.

Re: Ponyville Residential District - The TARDIS
:: Day the Second ::

How the Doctor got from the Ponyville town square to the TARDIS the night before was likely to remain a mystery to all; He remembered a charming if gullible gray pegasus, some tasty cider, and waking up somewhere near the alien device's main power core. A scan with the Sonic Screwdriver had borne the good news that the TARDIS was not getting any worse, and so with a great door-creaking, the Doctor stepped out into the alley where the TARDIS had landed.

"Oh, balls!" the Doctor's hoof slapped his forehead. "Wordsmith!"

---> From the Business District!

"Here we are, home sweet TARDIS," the Doctor said, trotting along the rain-soaked alley and leaning up against a strange blue box. The text near the top of the thing helpfully informed Loose Leaf that it was a POLICE PUBLIC CALL BOX. Whatever that is. The brown stallion gave the pegasus an easy smile.

---> Enter from Business District

Loose Leaf placed her hoof under her muzzle and inspected the phone box, then the Doctor, then the phone box.

"Home, yeah, uh-huh, ok... that's... yeah that's not crazy. Do you think that's crazy? Probably not," she mumbled under her breath. The Doctor's genuine smile made Loose Leaf uncomfortable. She tried to smile back. It wasn't as good and less natural then the one she had flashed Fung Shui earlier. "Uhh... it's... it's... niiiice... this home of yours... nice."

Adult logic started to creep into her mind and nibble at her acceptance of all of this. Why had she agreed to this? Riiiiight. Childhood dreams.

Her smile faltered and twitched a bit.

"Ell ven," the Doctor said around the key that he'd pulled from somewhere. He deftly inserted the key into the keyhole on one side of the box, and the double-doors on that side pushed inward with a loud creak. Once inside, the Doctor turned about to face the youthful mare. "Won't you come inside?"

Re: Ponyville Residential District - The TARDIS
When Loose Leaf was but a fowl, her sister and her used to watch a movie called Winny Wanka and the Chocolate Factory. There was a part of the movie that she distinctly remembered (other then all the scenes with chocolate). It was the part when all the little fowls first wandered into the edible wonderland. She remembered their doubt, their skepticism, their disappointment.

The little door opened and there was the wonderland, as if all their dreams had been stored all in a room. Dreams that had to do with sugar at least.

The moment that phone box doors opened to her in that ally, it was like her own wonderland had been revealed to her.

Except there was no chocolate.

Eh, it was impressive enough.

"Wha wha wha... whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooa..." It was a good thing her eyes where attached to the inside of her head, because if they hadn't been, they would have fallen through the expanding sockets and rolled onto the floor.

"That's a new one," the Doctor chuckled. "Reminds me of a trombone for some reason. Anyway, in you come, out of the rain! Oh, and..."

He got close, and almost serious, though there was a gleeful twinkle in his eye. "Whaddaya think?"

Re: Ponyville Residential District - The TARDIS
Loose Leaf looked inside, then out, then back outside, then in again. She searched the interior high, and low, then back outside. She re-read the print over and over again.

Police Public Call Box

Police Public Call Box

Police Public Call Box

Loose Leaf felt (and looked) like her head was going to explode from trying to understand it all.

"But... that's not... wha... but where's the phone?"

Re: Ponyville Residential District - The TARDIS
"Oh, it's over... there," the Doctor flailed his foreleg in the direction of the command console, upon which a veritable pile of knickknacks, paddy-whacks, doodads, thingamabobs, and whatcha-callems were arranged. And from the center, a big translucent cylinder full of more glass-like tubes and cylinders and some flat bits rose to join the vaulted ceiling in the center of the room (which was easily the size of the main room of the Ponyville Library). "Somewhere."

"But really, you didn't notice anything?..."

"Like about the size, perhaps?"

Re: Ponyville Residential District - The TARDIS
"Well... I figured mentioning that it was a bit bigger on the inside then on the outside would be a rather pointless statement. You know, unless whoever sees this has a freakn' heart attack or faints or something. Cause that seems more like the response I would expect. As for me? I'm fine, why wouldn't I be fine, not like this isn't totally freaky and not even close to a regular occurrence. How long have you been living inside of a phone booth? How long has your phone booth been doing this? I'm not sure if your phone booth is healthy. Have you considered taking it to see a doctor? Or are you that kind of doctor? I wish I knew. Do you have tea?" Loose Leaf started to babble, scratching her head, blinking repeatedly, pressing her lips together, twitching a bit, tucking her hooves under her arms and rocking a bit as she sampled the inside of the Doctors... place.

Re: Ponyville Residential District - The TARDIS
"Easy, now," the Doctor put a steadying hoof on Loose Leaf's shoulder. "Why don't you have a nice sit-down, and I'll put the kettle on," he suggested. He took the nearby half-flight of stairs up and disappeared through a metal doorway on the balcony that stood across from the double-doors.

Shortly, the Doctor's head popped out of said doorway again. "A couple of centuries now, ever since I borrowed it, it's a TARDIS, yes, kind of, now you do, and in a few moments," he answered Loose Leaf's questions.

Re: Ponyville Residential District - The TARDIS
With some erratic nods, Loose Leaf heartily agreed with the Doctor. Her eyes darted around the "Tardis" searching for a place to lay her trembling tush. With all the contraptions and shiny, not-really-sure-what-they-were objects, Loose Leaf didn't really know what to trust her tush to.

She sat plopped down on the closest thing to a chair and tried not to seem like a rude guest by sitting there shivering like a crazy pony.

"Soooo, uh, this is a nice... place you've got here. I mean other then the fact that it's totally freaky, it's really cool. I mean wait, that didn't come out right. Not freaky. Not freaky at all... this phone booth... not uh." She forced a grin and kept up the friendly conversation even though the Doctor wasn't even there.

It made her feel better.

"Sorry if I'm in a bit of shock. It's less that this is weird... I mean it is, but what I mean to say is that uhm, I'm not really sure. Ah-ha ha ha!"

Laughing. Laughing was friendly. Sweet Celestia how she wanted to be friendly with the pony that had the power to turn phone booths into death traps. Ah- ha ha ha!

She really wished she had tea...

The Doctor knew demented laughter when he heard it, and so returned to Loose leaf's side, down the stairs. "Are... er, are you okay?" he asked gently.

Re: Ponyville Residential District - The TARDIS
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little shaken, but yeah, peachy-keen," Loose Leaf said, trying not to grind her teeth together. "I mean I know there's magic and all that, but all THIS? I just can't tell what's getting to me: the initial shock or the fact that my childhood day-dreams weren't so far-fetched. Oh Celestia, what ELSE was I right about? Aaaaaugh!"

Loose Leaf decided to give up for a moment and met the surface of something with her face. It didn't hurt nearly as bad as her brain.
