Was Dolorous Strike what he used to inflict blindness in that last fight? That save DC of 28 has me questioning exactly how HIGH his Str modifier is......

Re: [OOC] New Chat

It was!

Maxing out Berserker can give you +20 attribute points! Guess where they're going!

Other than that, I think that his War Paint works like your Armory gadget, hes bought some, his points for leveling went into it, and there are some other boosters. It won't last long, but while it does it's "Hulk Smash!" - although he's still stupidly strong the rest of the time.

I like the look of some of those Stance things though. Maybe next level. I bet that Gerad has stuffed all the available strength-boosts into his build already.

Re: [OOC] New Chat

There are a few left, although you've got most of the easy/cheaper ones.

Although I remember one character with immunity to the normal limitations of strength who kept doing things like grappling spells, ripping holes in the universe, and punching out logical arguments. (Prosecutor) "AS I have shown, this man is OBVIOUSLY guilty!" (Character) "Me crush your arguments with muscles!" (Jury) "We find this man not guilty!"

Rather like Skill Stunts, but for sheer strength. Very silly, but very entertaining.

Re: [OOC] New Chat

"I strangle your logic!"? That does sound hilarious, but Khorolf is a bit more serious than THAT!

It's probably time to either go more anime or start branching out instead.

I miss when magi were wise old folks! Gerad is fun, but maybe cosmic powers and the world's fate shouldn't rely on wiz kids?

I meant with saving some points to use to buy other stuff. As with getting your hit points cheaper and such.

Re: [OOC] New Chat

Forgotten Realms around the Time of Troubles.

We have the primary location is a small village in the high forest, but the party has been a few places since.

We also have a PDF to share till at should bring you up to speed. I’ll have to get a link to you.

The group is presently wrapping up a side adventure in the ‘past’.

Re: [OOC] New Chat

Basically...

The Starting Position:

  • Started in Beckfyrd - a tiny isolated hamlet in the High Forest.
  • Initial characters were a batch of kids who were coming of age.
  • With practically no resources or support for adventurers, everyone was dependent on their own resources.

First Adventures:
  • The characters were gathered up by Titania, the Faerie Queen, given a boost, and charged with protecting Beckfyrd.
  • Beckfyrd is a major magical nexus, targeted by various powers who want open access to Faerun. We must stop them from taking the place.
  • The characters dealt with numerous local issues and have branched out because there is a prophesied major battle coming up in a month or two and they want to build up their power fast.

Current Events:
  • The characters traveled by way of magical pool to Phlan, where evil plots are underway.
  • We just had a big fight with a giant and his support, who apparently were trying to keep people away from the evil to keep it from feeding on them.
  • We're deciding what do do, since we didn't escalate the battle enough to kill people.

We have, however, pretty well established that Beckfyrd is stable - but that people can wander in from all across the multiverse and when we go outside it we can wander into the past, the future, and alternate worlds. So at this point... a character could come from pretty much anywhere.

Currently we have:
  • Gerad: Support Mage, Seer, Infrastructure Magic, Party Boosts. His most effective attacks, however, tend to be coming up with reasons why it is greatly to the enemies advantage to do what he wants and talking to them.
  • John: Gadgeteer-Charger Fighter. Very good at moving in and smashing things, currently contemplating various boosts I think.
  • Khorolf: Barbarian Berserker (with a side order of Mystic Bartender, which has turned out to be really useful). Basically a burst-fighter. Extremely powerful until his boosts (fairly quickly) run out.
  • Xenophon: A fairly new arrival, apparently a fairly straightforward spearman.

Re: [OOC] New Chat

If you're an old-timer like me, you might remember a ground-breaking comedy by Mel Brooks called Blazing Saddles. My wife wanted me to take her to see the new animated film, "Paws of Fury". I kid you not, 10 minutes into the film, I turned to my wife and whispered "I can't believe it! They remade Blazing Saddles as a kid-friendly animated movie!" Pretty soon, we could anticipate the next joke or scene, and we're giggling at every inside joke. Then we found out that Mel Brooks himself had a part in the movie. We laughed our asses off

Re: [OOC] New Chat

I was never quite sure if the "fight spills into other movies" ending really worked or not. Still an excellent movie though!

I do tend to assume that - out of combat time (and to some extent in it) that multiple interwoven conversations are fairly standard, just because a sequential set of even brief conversations can take a month or two of real time, during which the action is entirely stuck. It's so much faster to just assume that the characters actually spent ten or fifteen minutes talking and the overlap is just an artifact of the format.
