Re: General Game Discussion Thread
I have everyone's original character sheets backed up so no problem there. It also occurred to me that I was doing more work than necessary. One of the books that I am working with "The Primal Order" does not try to make a whole new game rather it suggests how you can use the material in the book and use it for whatever game system you desire. In fact the back of the book has conversion notes for several game systems including GURPS, Champions, the World of Darkness and others. Unfortunately the copy I have is the second edition which does not include conversion notes for D&D as they had a problem with the idea as did a few other companies that were edited out of the second edition.

The reason I have been reluctant to use the D&D divine rules "as is" was because I wanted to use ideas and concepts from outside of D&D.  I am a fan of comic books and the worlds of DC and Marvel and they often feature Gods, Cosmic Entities and so forth and wanted something that would be able to work for many different kinds of characters.

Basically it boils down to three books that I really want to make use of. Two of them are already D20 supplements (Book of Immortals & Immortals Handbook) and the aforementioned Primal Order there are things I like and dislike from each but the Book of Immortals (Mongoose Publishing) outlines the means to advance a character along their path with the Challenges and so forth while the Immortals Handbook helps with ideas to advance characters beyond divine rank 20. Like I said there are things in both books I think just further complicate things so I wouldn't want to use them entirely "as is" but I think I should be able to work it out so that the base character could be built with whatever system best represents that kind of character (Can even stick within a D20 system such as Mutants and Masterminds for the Superhero types) so that the overall mechanics are basically the same and just work on tying it together.

I will try to work it out in the next few days and post what I come up with. Let me know what you think if I have made any sense or not.

I'm new and therefore don't have an opinion on this other than I think we should go with whatever gives us the best chance of playing sooner rather than later.

Re: General Game Discussion Thread
Role playing has been my blood since I was a kid. As kids we all made up stories and adventures often playing pretend in what we called "Everything Action Universe". We'd mix up ideas and concepts from wherever and whatever inspired us. Over time this evolved into hours and hours of playing rpg's. I've decided that instead of trying to make one universal system that can handle every possible world and character to go the route that the Primal Order book did and make something that could be used with any game.  Characters should be built as their mortal stats using whatever system is appropriate for the world they come from. For the old time players that just means dusting off the old character sheets and building upon them. You will see more activity over the coming days and weeks as a lot of work I have been doing a lot of stuff offline to try to build a framework.

Good news means no more waiting.

Re: General Game Discussion Thread
Looks like sleeping gods are awakened hearing the call of the Games of Divinity. The game is getting a bit of a revision and update so while each of you work on your divine creations (remember character creation is ongoing) and I'll be adding to the wiki and doing up some characters so you can see how the system will play out. Of course its total playtesting so feedback is good and we can improve on what works over time.

I will be setting up a thread that all immortal players can access a public area of the immortal city to be able to interact with one another while plotting over time in your own threads.

Luthien? Crom'Cruach? You guys in? I am sure we might see other sleeping gods awake.

Re: General Game Discussion Thread
While I really love the idea of the game itself.. I just really can't get up the motivation to learn a new system.  Sorry. :(
I joined the game as a d20 God game and it's what I made the character (both of them) as. Sigh...

Re: General Game Discussion Thread
As you see, I earned some stuff in the old iteration of the game. I had, among other things, rankuped from lesser power to intermediate power. I expect to keep that.

The Clock Queen answered the call even from her time beyond time. The spell moved through the entirety of the immortal hosts bringing forth knowledge of those voices answering the call.

Even from the Ninth age Westman could hear the call and the final spell that began the Convergence. He answered the Roll Call. While many believed him dead, he had just remained the silent watcher.

OOC: Sorry guys been without Internet for a while now. Hope to post again as soon as this weekend from my sisters house since I don't have Internet at home right now.

Once a voice within the divine game like so many others the titles, deeds and power fell to the voice of the Cosmic Storyteller. The archwizard answered the call from his location in Pandius the city of the immortals which had suddenly had an unusual energy field descend on it cancelling out the powers of the immortals who flew too close to the field.

Re: General Game Discussion Thread
The Dark Prince of the Game answered the call. The Roll Call was a hidden feature of the game that once discovered any player could use to restart a lag in the game and the actions of the immortals who may have lost interest in the game. Many players came and went over the years. Some lost souls recovered by others still playing the game.

Yet something felt different in the game now. The Games of Divinity or the Game of Worlds as it was sometimes called had new players on the horizon.

Re: General Game Discussion Thread
I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but this game seems to have been starting and ending really frequently. In a time where net access seems prevalent, I can't figure out why there are so long delays between posts.

Xanthe is still a major figure and I would definitely play if there was regular action, but for the moment the action seems spotty at best.

In reply to Xanthe (msg # 482):

Agreed, if we even had a post a week that would atleast move us in a good direction.

Departure delayed Xanthe, will if we can revive again.

Re: General Game Discussion Thread
I feel disappointed. I wrote up about 5,000 words on my character's background through the last two thousand years, his lair, retainers, helpers, religion, friends and enemies. I incorporated a lot of pictures and maps and tied it into the game word as much as I could. All for it to go nowhere. What was the point? Was there ever a chance the game was going to run? There certainly seem to be dedicated players, but it must be difficult to get these huge sandbox games kicked off.

Re: General Game Discussion Thread
Originally it wasn't the sandbox game. At least not when I joined.  It was using DND 3.0/3.5 and had a bunch of active players.

So are there more posts I don't know about? I only see 680 posts logged against the game over all the years it has been in existence.

What 3.5 material was being used?
