The
Manifest Destiny began its maiden voyage yesterday, to much fanfare on Earth and throughout the Sol system. The launch even warranted a lavish ceremony, and the Alliance 2nd fleet, stationed at Jupiter, provided a ceremonial salute by firing of several of its weapons into space before the
Destiny jumped to the Lupus system.
Then Disaster struck.
The Jump Drive on the
Destiny failed mid-flight.
With some luck and skill, the
Destiny managed to make its way safely to the Lupus system. The crew has been unavailable for comment, but sources on Romulus think that the problem was due to a faulty K-GX Jump-Drive coupler (the device that sustains the "warp"), and have ordered replacements.
Mercury-based Path-E-Tech, the manufacturers of the K-GX couplers used in constructing the
Destiny, were unavailable for comment.
Aries Shipyards, were the
Destiny was built, has issued a statement saying that the
Destiny is still within its 30-day extended warranty, and will pay for the replacement couplers.
