Re: OOC: Player Introductions

Hi everyone,

I'm a gaming grognard, having played and run more sessions and systems than I care to admit to.  I'm a huge SF fan, esply Golden Years space opera stuff, having read Dune, Foundation and EE Doc Smith all while in elementary school!

I ran a 2nd ed FS game for a while, although that was not too recent. I'm also a rules-lite, rp'ing kinda guy. I like FS for its setting, and would be open to various styles that would involve visiting and meeting some of the signature aspects of the setting.

Looking forward to gaming with you all.

Re: OOC: Player Introductions

In reply to Gamemaster (msg # 1):

Hi Folks!  I'm a RPG freak, pretty much.  Been playing since the 80's, starting with AD&D and eventually outgrowing it for dozens of other game systems.

I recently (last year) ran a short FS campaign, having been drawn to it by the concet of it being "Dune-like".  My players loved it but I needed to take a break from GMing due to the impending arrival of my newborn son (yay!).

I generally post mostly during work hours from 8am to 5pm EST, during which time I can crank out a lot of posts.  After hours and on weekends, my access to the computer is hindered by baby-in-lap, so my postings may be quite a bit more erratic.

Re: OOC: Player Introductions

Hello Everyone,

Im coming up on my 5th year playing DnD 3e/3.5e but other then that i haven't played any real games. mostly i collect gaming systems and check them out.

I have most if not all of the Fading Suns sourcebooks including the 3e playtest book that has been floating around the internet but know next to nothing about the setting. Look forward to playing a Fading Suns game.

Re: OOC: Player Introductions

Hello all,

I've been playing RPGs since old school days. I started with MERP and moved to AD&D 1 & 2E. Now I've been playing a lot of PbP games especially Rolemaster.

I saw the 1980s Dune film and liked it a lot; then read the first 3 Dune novels. The first is a blast. I've never played Fading Suns but have been reading of lately a bit. I like it a lot! I look forward to playing with you fellows.

Re: OOC: Player Introductions

Hello everyone,

I’m a SF/fantasy fan and long time gamer, both table top RPG and LARP. Fading Suns is and has been for the last 12 years my game of choice for GMing. I’m finishing my second multi-year campaign as we speak J I’ve also done a good deal of D&D, GURPS medieval and 7th Sea.

On a more private note I’m father of two and work in the IT field. I should also mention that being French, english is not my native language. So if you find some of my wording awkward, you know why !

In reply to Gamemaster (msg # 1):

Hi, also long term gamer, started some point in mid 80's. Played a load of different systems over the years, currently running a Dark Heresy game and playing in a Pathfinder-ish game.

Played FS since it's release and have pretty much all the released sourcebooks, just not the latest Shards - I was waiting for 3rd Ed before buying those.

Really enjoy SciFi and especially the darker stuff where there be hints of Things in the Dark.

Looking forward to playing in this - my available time fluctuates wildly, but plan to make the best of this.

Re: OOC: Player Introductions

Hi, I'm John and I've played games since I was 11 or so. Love fading Suns since it's so close to Dune, allong with a working magic and a big history.
Currently play Pathfinder and run a Palladium campain.

Re: OOC: Player Introductions

In reply to Gamemaster (msg # 1):

Hello, I am Damon. I first started getting involved with Fading Suns back when I read a review of 1e in Dragon Magazine. That was followed up by Emperor of the Fading Suns game. When 2e came out, I decided to finally get around to investing in the RPG. I've played both the VPS version and D20, and while the D20 version brought a lot to those rules, it didn't quite fit the setting. But over the years I've really become a fan of the setting.

Other games played/tried: SF/Fantasy wargames (mostly Warhammer variants, also Battletech, and Mongoose's Noble Armada line!) Historical wargames (ancients/medievals, and WWII), D&D iteratons, Cthulu D100 iterations, Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader, Star Wars D6/D20/SAGA, Savage Worlds, some others I'm forgetting...

Damon.

Re: OOC: Player Introductions

Hey guys! I'm Jordan, been playing RPGs for about 10 years or so now, and first got hold of Fading Suns about 4-5 years ago, but never had a chance to play it. I've got a fair bit of experience with other games though, such as nWoD, Call of Cthulhu, Exalted, SLA Industries, and a tonne more that I've not had a chance to play in a while!

I'm also glad to see quite a lot of people here who like the 40k RPGs, since I'm one of the playtesters for it :P

Hi everyone, I have Fading Suns 1st and 2nd editions, but I haven't had much opportunity to play.  I'm really looking forward to this game!

Re: OOC: Player Introductions

Hi everyone! I have been so busy with exams lately (lately? i have another one i n3 days!!!) that i entirely mised this thread. Hope you excuse me.

I have been a fan of FS universe since the first edition of the game (one of the few books i own). Unfortunately my experience is reduced to a handful of adventures with me as GM, but had plenty in other games.

Dagretto, i too play the mongoose game, but not the FS but the starfleet one!

friarjohn00, i also loved the dunesque setting, although i think the FS backgroun is more rpg-friendly than the Dune one, don't you think so?

Camojoe, what do you think about the theory that daemons and every other "darkness" in space are really a faction of the Ur?

In reply to Yuber Okami (msg # 12):

I have been playing to that in my previous campaigns. I have been playing these to be part of factions of the Ur - either servants or 'supervisors', some very powerful 'supervisors' :-)

Re: OOC: Player Introductions

Hello Everyone!  I'm grateful to be given a chance to join this game.  for the record.. I play very heroic characters with a flair for the flamboyant.  Very Type-A personality go out and get it characters that 'happen' to the universe and don't wait for the universe to happen to them.

I have played and run serveral games of Fading Suns and have EVERY 2nd Edition Fading Suns Sourcebook or supplement as a resource to draw upon.

I'm quite familiar with the setting.

I look forward to exciting play... making my character now...

Edit1:  Oh, my personal name is Roger. :)

Re: OOC: Player Introductions

I suppose I can weigh in on this thread as well.

I tend to focus on the setting both as a player and as a GM, not just the physical setting, but the social setting as well.  This does not preclude interest in the story but it can make for extraneous detail beyond what some players are interested in, if you see to much of that in my posts feel free to comment on it or skip over it.

My interaction with Fading Suns is somewhat minimal compared to the 20+ years I have been playing various RPGs but the setting is of a type that has interested me for far longer than I have known of this particular iteration's existence.

While I am a big fan of the Dune setting I like the Hyperion aspects of Fading Suns much more, and hope to be able to help bring those into this game.
