Back when this was said.....
Sirenya:
"Well played Master Steelfist." says Sirenya, quite tearful at hearing it. "Though I have to say that it's a sad day for me to leave you."

Sirenya, surely you mean doing some studies before we all head out again! I would miss your outlook, it keep me smiling when I struggle, stay in Glen, look after our company interests

Krackor was not quite shocked but was a little surprised. He would miss Sirenya very much but Hope's she would stick around what looks like their new home.

In reply to DM (msg # 940):

He wasn't surprised when Talindra vanished, he was expecting something more flashy though.
It seemed like a day for little surprises.

Kitheras Sunblade:
At a quiet time in the evening, Kitheras approaches Karilla with a reflective expression on his face. "We'll be parting soon, I know.  Our last conversation was less-than-ideal.  I don't really want to leave things that way. I think I was a little too honest with my feelings, and we're too newly acquainted for that to have been appropriate. I hope you'll forgive my social ineptitude."

"I take no offense. In fact, my reaction was the inappropriate one. There was no way for you to have known and I am still not quite ready to relate the horrors I have experienced over the seemingly countless decades. That is why I am leaving. I need to help myself before I can think about helping others. The thought of a lake that can heal you is too good an opportunity to pass up. I also don't think I could leave Elo's side at the moment. I've spent so much time getting back to him that leaving him makes no sense." Karilla regarded the elf for a moment before continuing.

"Consider us leaving on good terms, Kitheras."

Kitheras Sunblade:
Kitheras inserts himself between Karilla and Kali. "You'll pardon me, madame.  Our Captain teased you with and offer of dancing, and then walked out with a pair of bearded dwarves--one on each arm.  He's an elf of unusual tastes, but I couldn't have imagined that one. I think it must fall to me to take up his part."  The noble elf with lordly bearing and a saucy mouth sweeps a bow and offers his hand, "Shall we?"

Kali gladly takes his hand and leads him to the floor.

"So, master elf, since we are now in a more discreet setting. Well, at least we are able to whisper to each other while at the same time being the center of attention. Please enlighten me regarding your most recent grand tour through the ruins. I must admit, I eat, sleep and breathe fanciful tales of adventure."

Re: Myth Drannor - New Beginnings

Outside Glen

When Talindra disappears, Kora pushes herself to her feet with a sigh. Grabbing her bulging pack, she heaves it over her shoulders with a grunt, then shuffles back and forth to let it settle. Then she grins at you. "One last stretch, eh?"

Together you retrace your steps back to Glen. You assume Talindra is accompanying you, but as she makes no noise and does not interact with the grass or dirt, you have to take it on faith.

No one pays any attention to you as you tromp back down the incline, now lit only by the many brightly-glowing lanterns, aside from an occasional dwarf who waves at Volar. The Hammer of War nods back, gravely, but does not get distracted from his task.

When you return to the Dark Door, one of the barmaids meets you as you enter. "The Forgesmith requests your presence in one of our meeting rooms." She bows first to Volar, then to the rest of you. "Follow me, please."

The three of you, plus whoever else of your group wishes to come, follow the barmaid and Volar through a closed door to the right of the bar. Beyond is a hallway studded with doors on both sides. The second one on the left is open, and the barmaid waves you towards it.

Inside is a comfortable room that is equally-suited for dining and discussion. Forgesmith Lynar Boldenbar stands on the far side of a  stone table. His eyes track each of you as you enter. "The last one in, please close the door."

When the door is closed, he turns his full concentration on an area of seemingly-empty air. There is a slight shimmer, and Talindra appears, looking somewhere between distracted and serene. She stares at the wall a little to Lynar's left, but does not speak.

((ooc: Anyone who wishes can join in this backroom conversation. That includes Kali and Taron, unless people specifically want to exclude them.

Neither Talindra nor Lynar seem likely to speak first...))

Corym was confused by the tense silence.  The Forgemaster had seemed so eager, and Talindra so at ease.  Something had changed.

He broke the silence.

"Forgemaster Lynar, may I introduce Talindra Braegen, the last surviving pupil of Elaethen Bhephel." He pauses a moment and then continues, "When we spoke earlier it seemed that the concept of helping a true survivor of Myth Drannor was meaningful to you.  Most importantly to you it was necessary to establish her authenticity and her goodwill.  I assume, then that you have questions to verify her bonafides?"

"Well, you are proving yourself to have quite the silver tongue, my dear. I must admit, I do love hearing about how full elves live. I hail from Cormyr and spent very little time in the forest or anything that wasn't some sort of metropolis. If I must wait for your friends to return for the tales of adventure and intrigue, then how about tales of nostalgia? Where, if I may ask, did you spend your youth?"

Kitheras smirked, "Probably much as you imagine but as few of our people actually do. An honored family name, a private estate, fine tutors, rigorous academy training.  I think humans believe we all sit on silver thrones and compose poems in observation of starlight." He's a wonderful dancer, and athletic.

He draws her close in their dance, and speaks closely, "But tonight you dance with an ass that was destined to sit and compose."  He spins Kali back out again, "But I am far now from that seat, and uncertain that I'll take it up. Or sit it down, as it were. Not until I've taken my measure of the world, made my mark, and am left breathless on my feet."

"All this I'm certain will be a terrible disappointment to my father. But for once in my life I am well outside his schemes, intrigues, and ambitions."

Kitheras guides Kali back to a table with their goblets--"Tonight's adventure: Having saved the consciousness of one of Myth Drannor's citizens, we now endeavor to restore her life. In order to facilitate the process, we've brought her here to help access the researcher we need.  To avoid causing a stir she must first be interviewed by the local priest.  Our Captain is a bit of a fanatic about this cause and unlikely to be accepting of slights towards are ward."

"Ah, so the songs do not live up to reality. Shame. I had such high hopes that you all floated around emotionlessly contemplating the meaning of life and how small we all are regardless of what we are in comparison to the universe and the planes. Although that could get dreadfully dull after a while, I suppose. Or depressing, depending on the elf."

"All this I'm certain will be a terrible disappointment to my father. But for once in my life I am well outside his schemes, intrigues, and ambitions."

"Ah, the disappointment of fathers is something to wear as a badge of honor, darling. How else will you know that they are paying attention?"

Kali takes a sip of wine and ponders on what Kitheras spoke of. "I am assuming that your friend's fanaticism is due to his belief that the...'undead' seems such an unkind word...spectral being is in need of assistance rather than some sordid mind control cast upon him. If there is a hint of the latter, please let me know my dear, because I will stop drinking."

Kitheras Sunblade:
Kitheras bows his head.  He recalled breaching of the walls of Silverymoon, and the blood that soaked the earth.  He hadn't been there, but knew many that had. "Our forms may be perfect, but our practice seldom is.  The life of a millennia is not dimmed by the failing of a moment. I know your measure if you are one who is willing to risk life for the freedom of the North and for a people that are not your own. I am honored to share your table."

He raises a cup somberly, "May the defeat of Khallos Shieldsunder assuage the losses endured to bring him down."

Tarron raises a cup himself. "What was lost could never be replaced. I lay a thousand curses on Khallos and his offspring."

"Our Captain is certainly one of the 'pondering the meaning of existence' sort we were alluding to earlier. He's a capable artist, and like all artists they become obsessed with their own vision. No. I think she's harmless, inasmuch as any 'spectral being' may be. And if we can restore her to life, so much the better--an ancient injustice undone. But for Corym she is, in a sense, the (un)living embodiment of his vision--" he puts on a somber and self-important tone, "restoring the virtue of the past to enrich the present." Changing back to his normal voice, "In any case, I hope it works out, but I suspect there'll be some dodgy moments tonight, though I suspect that things will not work out for Corym as he would like."

He takes a long drink and concludes, "Most men in this world make the mistake of objectifying women, but our Captain is in the process of making an equally egregious one by idealizing one."

Kali balked at the statement. "Ugh...virtue. I have found it to be highly overrated. No where near as fun as licentiousness. Or rakishness. They are more fun to say, too."

quote:

"Don't completely knock objectification. It can be fun and, if used properly, can be very useful. However, any time someone puts a person, or in this case a mystical being, on a pedestal and they never quite live up to the fantasy. Hopefully, it is not the world-ending type of disappointment. More of an 'oh, well that's too bad' sort of way."

Kali finished her glass and orders another round. "Regardless, I am bound and determined to enjoy myself."

Re: Myth Drannor - New Beginnings

Lynar nods at both Corym and Kitheras as they finish speaking. "And you, my lady?"

Talindra's eyes drift over to him for a moment. "I am who I have always been. And somewhat not."

From the corner, Kora pipes up. "She gets distracted easily, sir. But when her attention is focused on something, she's brilliant. I had a great aunt who got like that, before she died. Talindra's teaching me magic, and she's great at it." Under her breath mutters, "Much nicer than Great Aunt Udlara."

Lynar takes in both Kora and what she says. "It is right for an apprentice to defend their master. And she has never made you afraid for your body or soul?"

"Never," Kora says, stoutly.

Lynar stares hard at Talindra, who has turned and is examining a series of carvings set high in the wall. What he sees, none of you can figure, but eventually he nods. "Then, provisionally, she is welcome to stay in Glen while you work towards her restoration. Volar will show you to the Goldbeard house. I will speak to the people. But it would be wise if she did not stray often from the house."

"Please. Accept my apology. It has been....." he pauses, thinking a moment. "...a while since I have faced an inquisition over my past. Know that when I am ready, I will divulge more. Until then, I don't know about you but I find that getting the muscles warmed up clears the head better than any meditation. Care to spar?" he asks, placing a hand on the hilt of his sword.

Krackor joined the others in the back of the tavern, taking his station inside the and next to the door. He listened and respected. It wasn't his place to talk just yet, this was the Forge Master's time. If he was asked, then he would answer.

When the questioning had finished and approval given, then the Barakor stepped forward one pace.

Forge Master, is there a Temple to the Bronze Mask in Glen and if not, is there a location in or around Glen where one can be created?

We envision a Temple with Quarters for our Company and others. Should our endeavours fail with Talindra, then this would or could also provide a place for her until suitable means are achieved.

Standing to attention while the other Priest considers the request.

Any aid the All-Father grants you to give, will be greatly appreciated as the Vigilant Host will all me to accept.

Something to build over time.
It would have the more accessible parts as a Training Hall for all, assuming large enough. Is there a Gaol or Watch house around?  This would also be workable if not.

It was now that he realised his excitement was starting to show as his usual cheery constinance grew.
