There is not, unfortunately. There are two additional exits to the room, but both of them are underground.

Also, my laptop's battery was starting to swell, so it's now in the shop for repairs. I'll learn more on Monday. Posting will likely slow down, since my laptop is my primary computer.

Honestly--considering the amount of heat that Torvek is bringing, I hope I don't have to draw any swords.  I think these guys are going down in short order. If the point is to blow our spell-wad so we can rest and heal the villagers to be able to send them back on their way, then we might as well let the spells do the talking and not risk life or limb.

Finally got the laptop back. It will now not catch fire in a horrific way. I will be updating the game shortly.

Please bear with me a while, I'll try to post, my oldest Rat, Ronnie, he's just over 2.5yrs old (almost 80yrs old in Rattie years), he isn't doing well and may not make it through this or next week.  Keeping fingers crossed that he improved and starts to walks better again.

I hope he recovers for you. Two months ago I lost my Tigger the Third, Butter paws we called him. He was only 10 or 11! A young kitty. Long brown/black hair with a white nose, belly & feet. He couldn't jump but he could climb! My left leg is still covered in scabs where he climbed my leg to get on my desk to lay in front of my monitor to sleep and get his belly rubbed. I saw him fall over his tail once, but he was one big sweetie pie! Pets are family!

My old rattie boy, Ronnie is at the vets, he's been struggling with his back legs the last few weeks, today he was using them really well, still only a out 50%, better than 5% though.
So my mind, especially with this head cold, has been a bit woolly. May not be posting quite as regularly.
This year, with illnesses, can go in the bin.

Boss, can Yngvar take this wolf as an Animal Companion?

2e doesn't have a formal animal companion. However, you do have the Animal Friendship spell, which can do much the same thing. Yes, you're able to use Animal Friendship on an animal that you have charmed. Though the animal still gets a saving throw as normal.

Ahh, didn't know that, okay, that works, Animal Friendship.

It's the Druids/Rangers 'Find Familiar' spell.

I guess you could ride 2 per horse, so would need 6 or 7 horses.  However with the way we've been running movements, riding horses or walking will be same speed if all the walkers have speed 12.  Not sure if it's worth it then.

And the horses would only last 11 hours which may make it even less worthwhile.

Since the prisoners are all humans, with maybe a half-elf or two, there wouldn't be an overland speed advantage for putting them on horses. Pegasi, yes. But not horses.

If @DM gave Torvek a new year experience bonus of 2,900,000 XP, then he could summon griffons with the Mount spell and makes it much faster for the party to return these poor people home... What do you think?  For the sake of these poor injured people? :-)

A bit of news on the personal side. I work for JPL (the Jet Propulsion Laboratory). As you might have heard, we had layoffs last week. I survived, but the lab lost 10% of our people and the process was brutal. So, sorry if I've been a bit out of it.
