Is the gap both narrow and low? Height is an issue for everyone else, width kindof for Krackor, even as a thin Dwarf, still as wide as a human thanks to the magicalplate mail.

It's both narrow and low, yes. Everyone in the party would be able to make it through, but it would be uncomfortable for everyone (if in different ways).

Will Krackor have to shuck his plate armor before doing so?

There sure seems to be a lot of cracks and fissures all around here.  I'm thinking about going Gaseous Form and getting hit with a Haste spell and doing a speed run just to open up the map a little bit and identify obvious points of interest to focus our investigation.

No, neither Krackor nor Kas will need to get out of their plate mail. If they're attacked in the narrow places, though, there will be penalties to basically everything.
