To make things easy, Corym and Elorfindar, if you go to the Raging Lion now, you'll find both Nym and Taeghen. If you ask anyone at the inn, or the surrounding area, they'll be able to tell you that the young Calishite rider headed out earlier in the day, but looked like he would be coming back eventually. You won't be able to track him down until the afternoon. You can jump to the Lion and introduce yourselves without me.

I'm going to be out of town training today through Saturday. I should have internet access, just not much time. Fortunately, you folks are doing just fine on your own at the moment.

You're fighting a bunch of orcs. I've been DMPC'ing you. So far your spells have been mildly effective. The rest of the group has been more so. I'll DMPC you this round as well, since everyone else has reported in. There should still be orcs left in Round 4.

My sister lost the power adapter for her laptop, twice (though I think once it just broke). The replacements don't always work, depending on how clear they label the things, model numbers, etc.. As the one who dealt with customer service or otherwise scoured the web for a generic replacement, I feel you pain regarding this hassle.

Sorry for not posting in the past two days; it's my first proper week as a full-time university lecturer (courses started this week here), and I find it rather demanding... I think I should be able to post on Friday [GMT] (perhaps earlier).

Congrats on the lecturer position.

We had a new lecturer/professor this semester and it took him some weeks to truly get settled. I'd imagine it will not be until next year (and the next class) before he really finds his style and feels comfortable.

So, as you might have heard, there's a rather large storm barreling up the US's eastern seaboard. That happens to be where I live. I'm somewhat south of the projected landfall site, so I'm hopeful I'll miss the worst of the effects, I could definitely lose power and/or internet in the next few days, and if I do, there's no telling when I'll get it back. So if I suddenly vanish come Monday, that's the reason, and I'll be back as soon as power is restored. Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up.

@Taeghen: Thanks, it is really quite demanding at the moment... The next few days will be even more stressful, I fear...

@DM: All the best for you and all people affected - I hope the storm won't be as severe as predicted!

@ Elorfindar: No worries, you put in the effort and had the knowledge to attain the position to begin with, you'll be fine.

Saturday I was informed that I was not only teaching the sunday morning adult bible class, but also organizing the entire worship service as our minister and all of our elders were going to be coincidentally out of town.

Monday I was committed to seeing a symphony perform in the ballpark after school and public forum debate practice before school. Oh and our school was evaluated by an international body to see if we're adhering to their standards and practices systemically.  This goes on Tuesday as well.

Tuesday the National debate topics were released so we had an impromtu resolutional analysis session at 7:30am, full day of school, after school practice, and a staff party, and then a recital.

Wednesday, I got stuck organizing a participation service at church on the fly because the elders were still out of town. Also, public forum debate practice before school.

Thursday I got to clean my house top to bottom (after LincolnDouglas Debate Practice after school) to prepare for out of town house guests that were coming in Friday after school, after more Public Forum Debate practice and school.

Now the guests are here (got here last night) with their bratty kids (we now have seven people in a three bed two bath house).

And my wife's nine months pregnant.

It's my nightmare week.

Wow, now that's a week. Mine was just spent huddling in bed with a succession of headaches, and I think I got the better of it. Make sure you get some rest, if you can.

I'm heading to Europe for a job interview tomorrow (Monday). I'll be gone for a week. Posting will continue while I'm gone, but will be sporadic.

Quick note on my availability for the upcoming month. I'm currently participating in an experiential practice rotation (an "internship" of sorts) for full-time hours. In addition, I am continuing with my weekend part-time job. Also depending on the day and assignments due, I may have a lapse in my posting days. No major disruptions I don't think. I've already started spacing out assignments.

Guys, thanks for your kind words! It's crazy: we went to the hospital four hours ago (in the early morning) but were sent back home an hour ago because it turned out, when they checked everything again, that the estimated date of birth has very probably been mis-estimated by a week (complicated story), which means that we are 'only' three, not ten days beyond the estimated date of birth, which means that labour would have to be induced only one week from today... Well, it's better this way because there is a high chance that labour will come by itself in the meantime.

When my sister was carrying her daughter, the doctor induced labor earlier than she was due because of the anticipated weight of the child compared to my sister's frame. It seemed a fairly nonchalant, routine process. My sister still gave birth naturally (just early). Everything was fine. Of course, given the chance and recommendation to enter labor at a natural time is good.

And labour did occur at a natural time, just one day later, so I am very, very happy to announce that my wife and I are now parents of a healthy girl!

Had a (mandatory) extra curricular activity this weekend, took up more time than I imagined.

Also, had to sort out some of my personal electronic/communication thingamajigs during my free time last week. Been trying to avoid the smartphone craze these last few years (and the associated data plans), but my old phone is on its last charges. They don't make decent dumb phones anymore, so had to sort that out and what data plan to get with it.

On the plus side, in addition to the phone, I did pick up a Nexus 7 and like it quite a bit. Kind of wish I hadn't bought an e-ink Kindle just last year. The N7 handles ebooks quite well (never had too much problem reading off a electronic screen vs a book/e-ink display), but does a lot more. What the heck was I thinking when I purchased the Kindle. Should have gone for the Kindle Fire at the least.

The Nexus 7 will probably end up taking the place (most of the time) of my much heavier full-sized iPad for at-school web browsing and assignment reading/reference as well. However, there is one app that runs really smooth on iOS, but is molasses slow on Android. It shouldn't seeing as it's just copious amounts of text (no pictures, no fancy functions).

I have also stayed clear of smartphones so far, am using a cheap old mobile which cannot even take photographs. Many features of smartphones do appeal to me but I am somewhat reluctant to get one because I fear I might stay online/check e-mails all day then (as opposed to nearly all day at the moment ;) ...). I guess I will get one someday, though. E-readers, on the other hand, are something which have no appeal for me personally.

Yeah, I'm a dead tree format person myself. Which is one of the reasons I've enjoyed picking up old 1e and 2e books on ebay, is it gives me a whole new dimension to read the books in. Plus, it's easier to compare a map against its description if you're flipping back and forth in a book than through a pdf.

That's why you have two tablets. ;)
Actually I wanted the smaller one to have something to do on the train for the daily commute.

I'm more of a hybrid user/reader/collector (hoarder). Older books I definitely try to get in paper, unless they're too expensive (which goes for much of the Planescape stuff and even some of the earlier Realms boxed sets). Newer stuff like Pathfinder I'm finding more and more an e-copy is good enough. Aside from not playing much PFRPG, the deadtree version is taking up quite a bit of room and I'm rapidly running out.

As I wrote in the other thread, I buy PDFs of some books by necessity - because shipping from the US costs too much. Usually, one can get most books from European sellers, but Paizo stuff and most of the recent Open Design books have to be shipped from overseas, and shipping costs from the US to Europe seem to have exploded in recent years.

I am also slowly running out of shelving space, but I actually like rooms crammed with books :)

As others in the group, I'm heading into a busier-than-usual time. I'm in my 'reading period' for finals which will take place all next week. While this happens every semester and I say I may be unable to post, usually it doesn't significantly impact my participation, usually. Hopefully everything works out smoothly.

I guess because everyone wants to get everything done before they are allowed to take some time off? That's the case with me, at least. I am so much looking forward to the break, which is starting tonight :) - which means I will be able to participate more actively again.

Things are rapidly being managed.  The family problems have abated, and the school stuff is being managed.  48 hours before the first day of school I was informed that I would be teaching a class I haven't taught in three years, and was asked to chair two grade levels simultaneously.  Oh, and teaching an extra class at a separate campus--though I asked for that I didn't suspect it would be in addition to my already full course schedule.

Edit: Apologies for the general quietude on my end. Ended up getting some half-expected time-off and used it to get some errands and obligations out of the way. Also had to replace/upgrade some office furniture, so putting those together and getting things adjusted took some effort (had to return some stuff and still waiting for a few pieces).

Just FYI, I'm going to be spending the next week at pre-deployment training. No, this does not mean I'm getting deployed somewhere in the near future. There is, in fact, no current plan to deploy me anywhere (thank goodness). The training, however, is mandatory for my position.

I'll be in a barracks/hotel for most of it and will have internet access. Whether I have the energy will be a completely separate issue.

Please continue to discuss the battle and/or plans. The sewage monster never shows up, so the battle is over. I'll update the XP thread in a moment. Once I'm back from training (and a bit of leave tacked on afterward), I'll move everything forward.

I'm away all day Sunday although may get chance to pop in. I'll be at Stevie Wonder concert in London (I live in the UK so current times are BST (GMT+1))

I'm heading out to the Midwest tomorrow to visit family. I had been hoping to get an update posted today, but time and errands got away with me. I'll update on the chase into the forest as soon as I can.

I am going to Afghanistan for a week-long conference. I'm bringing my laptop, but I have no idea whether I'll have internet. So if you don't hear from me until next weekend, just talk amongst yourselves.

I am very sorry that my posting continues to be erratic - at the moment, my days are filled with childcare, and my evenings are very short because we get very little sleep since we started trying to wean our youngest. This will become better sometime soon (*very* soon, I hope!) but the situation is rather unpredictable.

I'm taking a trip to Athens this weekend. It'll be my first time in Greece. Posting may be slow. :)

Just a heads' up -- I am sick with a sinus infection, which for me given my usual track record, is serious stuff. Typically, sinus infection = bronchitis = urgent care, because bronchitis and my asthma do NOT play well together. This may interfere in my posting frequency, if I get too sick to leave home to get online. (Thankfully, I don't need my voice for this, because it bailed within the first 24 hours. Wimp.)

I will be traveling for the holiday's next week, not sure how it will effect my posting rates, but in case it does...

I'll be mostly be cooking and DM'ing a 2nd Ed game IRL most days next week.

Just as a heads' up, but my access is a bit unstable right now.

Waiting (still!) on a new laptop battery (was guaranteed delivery on the 5th... as of Weds. it was slated for the 12th... after two days of being up in the metro, it was finally sent down to my little city -- an hour away -- but doesn't say it was actually delivered today.) Not that I could charge it... my charger went belly up days later, so I'm waiting on a charger, too.

And going stir-crazy. :P

Will be checking in from work, or when I can hog my friend's computer, and am not exhausted. (Stupid insomnia.)

Wrapped up the end of the school year last week (mental burnout, getting my last quarterly done) and this week I'm taking advantage of continued abnormally low heat & an available friend to try and finish packing my house. Sounds a lot like my situation (minus the gf!). The struggle to stay motivated and not be overwhelmed by how much needs to be done, to figure out how to break it down into bite-sized chunks that are manageable enough not to overwhelm, and to figure out how much I can actually keep at hand, vs what simply has to go into storage (or just get rid of).... I should have been done months ago. I signed the contract on the property I'm buying back in late November. It would have been a lot more pleasant to get moved out while the weather was nice. Working alone, though, yeah, know that problem much too well.

I have LARP this weekend and doubt I'll have a signal, not been to this particular site before.

I have to write four papers in the next week for my finals (ought to finish my MS next summer), but that may mean I'm a little spotty this week.

Compounding the matter, I slammed my finger in a heavy exterior security door and have a pretty good bruise coming up under the nail of my index finger--so typing is literally a pain at the moment.

Hi peeps, just a reminder, it's coming up to that time of year again when I'm away camping for almost a week, which if for a 4 day LARP event.
The last weekend of August, from the Wednesday before until the Tuesday, my posting my be non-existent or sporadic.

This has been the same for 19 years now, yep, this is 20th 'Renewal' LARP event with Curious Pastimes.
