Re: OOC

Echo:
@Boomer: The GM shot down Hydra already.

@Shadow: Recovering PA is the whole point of this mission.

Uhhhhh no officially we are to keep the armor from the enemy and eliminate it, all other mission objectives seem secondary to that. And do you want to carry it around and we bury it with POW's they will know where it is and could report that to the enemy.

Our mission is to verify the suit, see that its accounted for then either recover it or see it doesn't fall into enemy hands again. So why do more than we have to as players if its not practical.

In game Boomer will do what you want orders are orders, she will try to lead her squad of Troopers as best as she can. Bucking for training to go up to field combat nco so she has to show them something and one of her duties is to give her suggestions to her CO. To make the mission go better and get the job done.

Re: OOC

If Boomer is the field officer in charge the longest, we can get called Kulenov's Krakens.

Zagorec's Wrecking Crew.

Braton's Bruisers.

Henderson's Harriers.

Tanayaka's Titans.

Moore's... I'm having a hard time comming up with something that isn't lame or over the top.

Re: OOC

Usually the name sticks and my character is not seeking officer standing, nco. She would likely turn down a promotion to Lt. but might take it under warrant until a proper officer is assigned.

Like the Roughneck's stayed the Roughnecks during the change of leadership.

That being the case, we have no idea who will be our field CO... we've barely had time to be a proper PA squad... which will only start after this 'week'.

Re: OOC

Echo was put in charge of the squad. Instead of his original communications specailist he was put into OCS.

There were numerous IC and OOC things that went into the decision. Part of it is that he has real life military experience and has been able to interact on that in a reasonable manner.

What the OCS gave him is lots of tactical and admin type skills and left him with less shooting skills. The specialities are balanced that way. It does take a mix to make up a good squad and not anyone person can really do it all.

Haverson has a longer time as an officer. For the Hell Week Mission Haverson is not leading but proving he can be a decent front line trooper. Struggling with not having the same amout of blam blam training.

Still, Everyone Fights. No one quits. Don't do your job and...

Re: OOC

Yep yep... your stuck with me. And I still put all my freebie points into communications, so we'd have someone good at it.

And @Boomer:

Why can't we stash the suit away from the POWs? Our Primary mission is to recover the suits, the alternate is to destroy it. "It was hard to carry" isn't a good reason to destroy it. If we couldn't recover it, then it would be destroyed.

And also, not true on the company  keeping the name regardless of Commander's.  After Rasczak died in the novel, there was talk of changing the name of the company to 'Jelly's Jaguars' but Jelal wouldn't hear of it, he didn't want anything to change.

Re: OOC

But I like the name sticking of the squad. :P

Anyway I assume we are going to hide them someplace just in one area and disabled of value, the PA should be securable in mountain terrain in treelines easily enough.

Re: OOC

I'm thinking somewhere on the shoreline, so once we hit the main base, we can grab those recovered suits, and make it back to the shore to exfil. Doesn't have to be buried either, tied from a tall limb from a tree. If they are fighting against us(PA troops) they aren't going to be looking in the trees for an ambush(PA suits are heavy.)

Re: OOC

Allo folks.

GM is going off stay-at-home and going back to work. It is fully planned to keep the game going. As well as at home posting there often is blank times at work where I can do posts.

We already have the solid foundation built. The skill, game mechanics, the player training on the mechanics, gear, equipment, setting content. So the amphasize going forward is on the story.

First shift is tonight, overnight, so I need to get some sleep.

Re: OOC

I'm not sure what the Law of War is in this universe, but in our military you can't just shoot a POW. If your clearing an objective, you can shoot anyone, even the ones writhing on the ground, already shot. Once you've come one them, and secured them, making them not a threat, it's your job to keep them alive.

Re: OOC

Prisoners can also give information. This is often important for the strategic situation.

I'm generally in Echo's frame of mind that once "secured" you are expected to keep the prisoner alive.

If you are about to be over run by enemy forces, which would return the prisoners to active enemy service, you would be okay to kill them.

For this mission, from the mission briefing:

quote:
As this is a training mission no enemy personnel are to be killed. Simulated KIA will be dismissed by referees in a fair manner. Zipcuffs (not handcuffs) to be used. Prisoners are not allowed to escape without rescue. For handling purposes zipcuffs to be put only on one wrist so prisoner can see to their own safety.

Who says that in deep covert ops you do not take prisoners unless ordered to say your goal is to enter this area, blow up this bridge and no chance is around to handle prisoners you can kill them usually if needed. And it depends on the military Russian Spetzna's are ruthless bastards if they are told to take this military target out and soldiers are in the way they are dead soldiers as long as they pose any threat to the mission. You don't drag prisoners around in small commando raids as a rule unless the prisoner IS the objective.

Re: OOC

Boomer, Echo was referring to the underbarrel launcher... only you and breaker have them.

And about the small teams... like I said, you have until you cross them to kill them.

I'm sure it happens that they come across one that they thought was dead, and might shoot again, but if there is anyone on the team that feels bad about it and files a report, the team will go down.

Re: OOC

She has only DMX charge grenades against three targets spread out and with an obstacle for partial protection she cannot be sure of more than one kill if she hits, she has armor piercing rounds for a reason for armored enemies. Against raider armor its seems to be most effective. Her partner seems to have standard grenades for him it makes sense to use them that way.

You were mission commander if you wanted her to have more variety you should have told her to use standard grenades also. Her grenades were chosen for stopping power against PA at closer quarters and vehicles not ideal for the kind of attack your asking for. I could throw such a grenade but seems to me they could avoid that to or she might have it fall off center when thrown. Or she can just shoot them. Her educated guess was the last and there is no time to clarify.

Re: OOC

Three are working on a boat tied up at the dock.

Dual purpose explosive drives a blast effect into the target directly hit with fragments to 10 ft radius)

Aim for the boat, and take out the guys on working on it. Am I reading that wrong? Is there not a 10 foot blast radius?

Re: OOC

Echo, I'm perfectly willing to take out my targets, but so you are aware I do not have any ammunition other than Teargas for the underbarrel and regular Morita rounds.

I was assuming we might need more AoE attacks for crowd control considering the original mission numbers, thus the teargas.

That was the plan. I did check everyone's loadout prior to posting what I did.

Your teargassing the nappers, something I've experienced first hand. You don't think about anything but getting out of gas.

They are going to wake up, but spend there time sputtering and gasping on the ground... then we kill them.
