Re: OOC Thread 3.
The air in the hollow grows still and the scent of leather and the heavy musk of bear settles about Aphails shoulders.
This is a sign of the presence of Artia, the Bear Goddess
His vision grows dark and he is vaguely aware of a falling sensation...the blackness fades a little...he is crawling through a dark cave...ochre hand prints dot the walls and ahead something huge is breathing.
An ancient being, from stone age times, thousands of years old maybe? Fomorian maybe?
He sees a crown of gold glinting in the darkness and spies Laird Taran kneeling before it, behind the crown stands a dark pale faced figure but Taran does not seem to notice it.
Lairn Taran is taking a payment/bribe from a secretive figure. Laird Taran maybe being manipulated so strongly, that he is not even fully aware who, what or why he is being bribed? If a lord was simply executing his kings legitimate orders, why would he need payment for this, and why the secrecy?
Darkness closes about and he sees Taran again baring his throat before the shrine of Brigantia, Danwe runs the blunt edge of a dagger across his throat and red wildflowers are laid onto the shrine... a great cheer goes up... Taran looks pleased but unsettled....
"Danwe is the midwife, or Hearth Warden, for Clan Hewell, which is a kind of cleric for the Goddess Brigantia. Brannon is our Hearth Warden. Blood letting is a common sacrificial ritual in many cultures. This simulated sacrifice could represent the lip service the Taran and Danwe are paying to Brigantia, the cheers could represent the people of Hewell who are loyal servants of Brigantia, and not part of the conspiracy?
The darkness lifts suddenly Taran and Kilmann lie behind a pile of stones and sight towards a huge stag, Kilmann draws back his bow and the animal falls...together the two men hurry to the corpse....the sunlight fades the darkness becomes almost all-encompassing, hot breath is on his face it smells of honey and pine...
This does look like a murder, or persecution, of a single significant person who has the ability, or authority to restore the balance. This might be Colm Cernach, or it might be Prince Doron, the king's errant son and rightful heir.
So in conclusion, Laird Taran, his son Kilmann and the Hearth Warden Danwe appear to be the instrument of corruption here. The author of the piece is suspected to be Kilnded, but remains in shadow.
META: Steward Kilnded is a powerful Darkness Elementalist and servant of Balor, the Prince of Darkness!
