"Indeed" Usopi says, patting Brannon on the back with a broad smile, "Though wherever there is darkness, Gatanades will send his light to expel it from this earth. Trust in the savior my friend and you shall rarely find yourself wanting."
He gives Brannon another slap on the back and laughs heartily as he continues forward.

Dann will follow the party on its way back to the village. He is decided to patiently wait for everybody to be ready to go back to the city of Glissom. Given the opportunity, he will vote to go there as soon as possible.

Chlainn will find a place to put up his horse, have it oiled and greased and get its horseshoes inspected and stones removed.  Then he'll go find the place where everyone abuses the fermented grain...

In reply to Chlainn Vacrolann (msg # 23):

Blaine and Gwyll welcomed Aphail and Brannon back and took them into council to discuss what had passed in the few days since they had departed.

Gill let out a hearty greeting to Chlainn, Usopi, Griff and Dann and led them over to his own home where they shared ale and mead and spoke of things that such men speak of.

Lann sought out Old Hugh in his ramshackle home and the crotchety old man queried what Lann was doing back and if he really thought a few days were what he had meant when he had told Lann to go away and do some growing. When Lann mentioned the items he sighed and held out his hand.

" What do ye have?"

Lann shows him the two rings as well as the cauldron he picked up, hoping the sage can identify the items.

He waves away the cauldron, " Ritual item....druids will like. No power there but what you put in it."

Old Hugh examines the gold ring bearing a black opal and then the other inlaid with mother-of-pearl.

After an hour or two he hands them back to Lann.

" Old, very old. The opal ring is Fomoraigh make and will summon a fey being once a day to serve the wielder. The being summoned depends on the wielders location...and need not be friendly. A powerful artifact young witch...be careful with this."

" The pearlescent ring is of MurdĂșchann province and like them allows the wearer to breath water as if he were a fish...it can function for many hours but for each hour used it requires a day to recharge..if you indulge your inner salmon for four hours then it will be four days before you can use the ring again."

" Power you have found? Wisdom...I think not...perhaps you will surprise me..."

"Ah but even if It is unfriendly it will still serve?" Lann asks. He also asks the old man about the magic dagger.

He also tells hugh of the encounter in the barrow with the giantess and her clan, asking Hugh for his advice.

After some time engaging in the drink and companionship of both his friends and Gill, usopi asks, ”Gill, I would like to speak with the pregnant women of the village. We came across some artifacts in our adventures since last we were here, and I personaly have only minor need of funds. I had thought to gift an item or two to the them as a group, that they might better deal with any issues arriving from the pregnancies and hopefully put less a strain on the clan as a whole.”

Usopi takes a gulp of mead and then, remembering his mild curiosity upon entering the village, adds ”on an unrelated note, what is the village burning outside? I would hope no further trials have come upon you all.”

" Serve? I should think so...though I'd be careful of my words."

" Dagger? I'd need to see it to tell. Who carries it?"

" You treated with the dead in the otherworld and still breathe air today...you are doing better than I thought you would. What would ye know?"

Gill nodded, " It is a kind gesture, my friend. And will be appreciated. I will speak with Gwyll and you can speak with her and the lasses in a bit."

" Burning? Ah, tis the hut that your friend convalesced in...none would dwell in it again so it was deemed best it burn...along with some old firewood and clothing no longer needed."

" Well, it certainly sounds like a dagger.", he harrumphed.

" The dead are dead and dead they should remain. Ye didn't bring any tagalongs back with ye?"

" Politics! Now the lad is asking Old Hugh about politics. Do I look like I know about Politics? Living in my we hut....smelling like last weeks suet...your a fool boy. And one I've been cursed with it seems."

Old Hugh fixed Aphail with a look as he examined the blade.

" Old....very old....the blade is much older than the handle...flint blade...this is Fiacail-cloch."

" The stone of the blade is stronger than steel and will never dull....its purpose is...well, if one is cut with this blade before they breathe their last there is no power lesser than the gods themselves that can bring them back to life....or unlife....be careful with this blade. I do not know where you received it but it is an artifact of the First Times before even men learned to speak, before the Fomoraigh rose..."

He handed the knife back gingerly, " Take it away from me...it is too tempting for one steep in darkness like myself...or your witch..."

Gill returned after a long while and Usopi was led to one of the larger outer buildings, when he entered he saw Gwyll there speaking with a group of five or six young women, most of whom he recognised though they seemed in much better health now than last he'd seen them.

" You are right! For power, I must try," Lann says.

Taking his leave, Lann goes to secluded spot to activate the ring.

"Hail my friend," Lann address the creature as equal. "I have a request. Bring to me a set of working enchanted chainmail that is uncursed. Do not bring anything else back and make sure the owner doesn't know you took the chainmail and leave no trace behind." Lann says.

OOC: If the creature appears powerful enough like a genie; Lann will ask him to enchant his chainmail with positive magic and no bad side effect.

Lann takes himself away from Lalliwick and a little way into the surrounding hills. As he worked the rings magic at first it seemed nothing had happened for several minutes and he was about to have stern words with Old Hugh and then there was behind him a grinding sound and a slab of stone lifted as easily as it were made of wood and a figure emerged from a dark pit concealed beneath it.

In appearance the figure was a dwarfish looking man; very strong and stoutly built, his dress apron and clothes brown like withered bracken, his head covered with frizzled red hair, his countenance ferocious, and his eyes glowing like those of a bull.

" I hear ye, Witch."

His eyes glowered hate as Lann made his demands and he spat into the heather.

" Aye, I will.", He descended back into the earth closing the stone behind him....

Re: The Southern Pagans Continued.

Usopi steps forward and begins to speak, a warm smile upon his face.

"Fair ladies of Clan Cernach, it pleases me greatly to see you all in better health then when last I saw you. Certainly you still have trials before you, but I seek to do what I can to aid you in seeing them through. Toward that end," he reaches in to his pack and draws out the bronze Torc he had taken from the group's collection of loot, "I gift this to your collective well being. I will give it to the Lady Gwyll, as she would know best how to use its worth toward your care, but I hope that it's value might ease the pains of the burdens you carry in some meager way."

he steps toward Lady Gwyll and extends the Torc out to her. If the group of women have no collective message in response, Usopi will spend some time walking among them, speaking to each one individually, and (if it is not offensive to them) offering to include them in his nightly prayers to Gatanades.

OOC - Bronze Torc removed from character sheet.
