Toirneach Lann:
Problem is the text doesn't say we can target the body and the text doesn't say we if the spit affects magical armour
I guess we can cut the head off and u dragon breath it?
Or I can reduce its MA for u to banish it?
The text doesn't say we
can't specifically target the body either though, so it's a question for the GM, not me.
Caith's just using her senses and her brain, her spells and what eyewitness accounts the PCs and NPCs have between them to figure it out as fast as she can reasonably do so as a Character. So Lann better not be lying IC about what he saw of her upstairs, nor the NPCs, because she's relying them being accurate in their accounts of the hydra to figure a lot of this out.
If the PCs can't see the body in the mist, then climbing a neck back to where it presumably joins onto a larger, probably snakelike 'body' if the slithering noises are anything to go by. Caith could be entirely wrong about this, and only has a partial idea of what the creature actually looks like herself.
Dragonbreath after slicing off a head might work, but we've got to give Usopi a chance to see if the mirror trick works first. Making the monster fight itself is a good distraction for the party to get up and get to the body in ambush, as is giving the nearest head something to harder chew on than the party as a backup plan. If I'm lucky, it might even give the damn monster seven years of bad luck in the process...
I think you'd need to reduce the target's MD, not their MA for Caith to have a better chance with Banish or Fossilize, correct?
Either way, if her upstairs doesn't recoil from the mirror? Transfix is still a good option, and using the monster's own anatomy against it to climb up to the place to strike is definitely something a wandering healer turned combat medic would do.
Yeah, I know it's crazy, but being completely sensible about this only gets the party halfway here. Get this right and survive? Lann will have all the stories he ever needs to thrill the crowds. That's how to make many a coin without dying.
