I don't have any fire arrows. The creatures feel like distractions.

Also, I don't think there is much more I can do against these things.

Does Force Field require concentration or am I able to take other action after casting?

In reply to Deise (msg # 958):

What we know:
Huge Attack and Defense - possibly insubstantial. Induce terror.
4 of them surrounded by darkeness.
8 of us plus the dog and farmers.

Exercise is teamwork says HR dept.

Individually many of us cannot fight them - suggest any of the following:
Pull back toward perimeter and surround them as the move toward the centre of holdfast -
Or abandon perimeter and head toward the centre to defend the farmers
Fire might help but with obvious damage to peoples homes (and potentially lives)
I feel that small groups against the individual minsters is now counterproductive - try to act as one (incl farmers)

They seem powerful to be a distraction, but then the following wall of darkness - who knows.

Fire arrows - is is possible to dip arrow tip in lantern oil?

Perhaps attack in pairs or threes. Too many and it will be hard for the others to singly hold out.

Re: OOC THREAD 5

Cheerful thoughts...

It's darkness and fear of the unknown the sheep killer is using, but the night is half over already. PCs don't have to defeat it, they just have hold out until sunrise, and stop the sheep dying would be nice, without burning the place down if humanly possible.

The effect of the foe actually dragging anyone off into the dark is far worse than just spitting the party in terms of morale, so stick together, and stay in the lit areas. Force the foes to come to the defenders.

Plan is to get hearth lit with DRAGONSBREATH. Magical flame and a hearth gives the PCs access to fire weaponry of the improvised sort. Even a wall of torches is still a wall of fire to shades to have to cross to get to the group in a circle.

I have no idea what to do about a shadow wall other than 'Don't get stuck in it!'

Re: OOC THREAD 5

So these seem... really powerful to just be randomly killing sheep all this time. What kept them from slaughtering the humans? Can they just not enter homes? But then surely a shepherd would have got got in the early days before they weren’t kept at the holds? Also, why weren’t they just shredding whole herds? Is this just the first time they’ve met resistance?

Also, if we can we should form a defensive line around the sheep and farmer home? The human lives are more important, but if we just let these things at the sheep they may leave and we’ll have to find them again.

Re: OOC THREAD 5

Sensible
My character is heading back to the holdfast and will attempt to join up where he is needed, subject to being able to get there in a timely fashion - otherwise will join first group be makes it to. Other than sneak attacks he would be terrified of one on one combat. I cant help Aphail as have nothing to offer, other than comfort to a dying man.

Its on a spell expiry roll or whenever it absorbs 15 hp worth of damage. You can act on subsequent rounds as normal. :)

RB has taken -5hp-4hp = -9hp

RC full hp. Running towards civvies.

RD has taken -4hp.

Usopi is near death, being healed by Caith

Lann on 50%? He can heal himself.

Aphail has balm for later - thx Beathan

Ok, I'm going to go with Forcefield so I can close this round out before I hit the sack.

Re: OOC THREAD 5

The Tooth Stone Dagger was one of the Formorian artefacts.  It is a +0 enchanted dagger (d4,3) which ignores non magical armour.  Great for a sidearm backup.

Once I've dropped RA, I'll get my Quarrybolt back wrap their flank!
