Brigantias Day- The Spring Festival

The lord and lady of Hallowhall waved the companions off with invitations to return whenever they wihed.

The trip north on Iolar na Mara was pleasant and without incident, the companions took the opportunity to take their ease.

Brannon prepared himself for introducing the others to Colm and what reports he might make.

The captain, Thomas Galstaff, was jovial but left them to themselves as they skirted the coast north.

.......

The ship came into Glissom, coming into the north bank of the Shadowspin River mouth between the Crown and Anchor and the East Gate.  The companions disembarked and Usopi supervised the unloading of the carts former contents.

Thomas waved goodbye to his passangers and headed north with some of his men as the ship was unloaded.

.......

The comapnions stood on the dockside with a small pony drawn rented cart beside them piled with possessions and gifts.

For many of them this was their first time in Glissom City.

The companions survey the dirty streets ajoining the dock crowded with people from all walks of life - grocers and street peddlers hawking their wares, farmers leading their animals or wheeling their produce about looking for buyers, housewives out marketing, proud huscarls dressed in the livery of their masters, travellers and street urchins constantly running here and there.

Brigantias Day- The Spring Festival

Sir Turren breathes in the air, exhales, ignoring the slight sway of the earth as he adjusts to being back on land.

He seems chatty and in good spirits today.

Brigantias Day- The Spring Festival

Usopi patted the little pony gently on the neck and glanced down at Gat, smiling brightly. He had been in cities this size or larger in the past, but none he had so intentionally set out for. Before his mentor had passed, all Usopi's destinations had been at the choosing of Ser Letholdus. His arrival in Gliss marked the first completed leg in his chosen quest.

"Not so different than Albish cities." he mused, "Now that we're here there's so much to do. I suppose I aught to find a city guard or some such. One of them aught to know if there's any local trouble we should keep our eyes open for. Then I'll need to find the local church, or barring that perhaps something like they have in Hallowhall."

After a moment of watching the passing people he turned to Brannon, "Though I suppose I should really let you lot lead the way, eh?" he chuckled lightly.

Leofwyn was quick to get back onto solid ground, and gave a deep sigh of relief when she was.

”Sir Usopi”, said Leofwyn, after hearing of his plans, “I would be interested in joining you when you visit the church, if that would be alright?”

Brigantias Day- The Spring Festival

Caith helps unload the cargo from the Eagle Of The Sea then sits, her backpack tucked under her robe's skirts, watching the flow of folk down the quayside, as she attempts to ken the patterns of the city's inhabitants before she walks the maze of stone bound streets.

The matter of the ground behaving as it should is one she considers beneath her notice, as it is far easier to hang to breakfast if she ignores the illusory motion, preferring to sit still a moment, feed the hired pony a handful of dried apple chunks and watch the crowd mill about instead.

Caith looks up at Sir Usopi's mention of his intent to seek out the local shrine of Gatenades, her curiosity evidently still unsated by her visit to Ereworn Town's granary-cum-shrine of the new faith, but she has other concerns than philosophy or sightseeing on her mind.

"Not enough trees, and far too many folk crammed into the one place..." the hedgewitch opines quietly "...But beautiful, I reckon, in it's own odd fashion." then looks to Hearthwarden Darrow, the only native guide in group for guidance as she asks "So where do we go from here?"

GM:
The companions stood on the dockside with a small pony drawn rented cart beside them piled with possessions and gifts.

One of the many urchins running here and there, pauses as the Iolar na Mara disembarks its passengers and their cargo.  The urchin loiters as the cart is loaded, supervised by a tall, handsome knight in full harness.  The urchin seems fascinated by the arrival of more knights, other warriors, and a young, beautiful lady.  When the Hearth Warden is seen on the dockside, the urchin finally looses interest and runs off.

The urchin runs to the Crown and Anchor and seeks out a burly female warrior sitting at the bar.  The urchin speaks with the woman, and is rewarded with a Copper coin.  The women sends the urchin off again, who runs up the hill to Castleside towards the Mad Albish Apothecary.  The women straps her baldric on over her leather armour and heads off along the dock.

Uthen has been quiet. He has been spending much of his time in prayer while he had the leisure to do so, coming to terms with the concerns he still had about the fact he broke in battle. But he has now, and a perceptive person may notice a change in his manner. He seems more at peace, less troubled.

And a little sheepish about the fact he hasn't been the best companion to others for a while.

At Usopi's mention of finding the local Church, he speaks up. "Yes - by your leave, I would accompany you there if such a place exists. If not - well, to find a place as close to it as can be managed."

Usopi laughed heartily at the requests to join him when he went looking for the church.

"Of course!" he answered, "Far be it from me to forbid any folk seeking the house of the Lord. Once we're all settled in here, we'll go find the local place of worship."

Re: Brigantias Day- The Spring Festival

Just after the unloading has finished, and just as the Companions of The True Faith are about to depart for the Chapel, a burly looking woman strides up to the group on the quayside.  She wears leather amrour and carries a Selentine sword at her hip (she left the Claymore at home today). Apart from her flowing red hair and sword, she is non descript, of average height and build, wearing homespun trews.

She gives a small bow of respect to the assembled knights and lady, then turns to the Hearth Warden.  "Hearth Warden Darrow is it?  I'm Rachel.  "  She moves in to take Brannon by the hand and then kisses him on both cheeks. "May the Red Fern Unfurl." she whispers into his ear as she kisses him. "Yer just in time.  I have rooms reserved for yer, for yer stay during the Festival.  There is plenty of space for yer friends too." grins Rachel.  Rachel seems intrigued by the handsome knights in full harness, particularly Usopi, and the beautiful Leofwyn.  "Beggin' yer pardon M'lady, but if yer wantin' the Chapel yer very late.  It was burnt down months back and the Priest left.  I can take yer to the ruins though?" she adds cheerfully.  "I have private quarters ready, with room enough for all of yer during yer stay in the City."

Desie nods to the three Knights of U, and addresses Lady Leofwyn,

"Very nice to make your aquaintance mi'Lady and share the journey. Now I must go."

As he leans forward to kiss the hand of the lady, he whispers. "My work is best done alone and in the shadows. I shall watch out and meet ye tonight."

OOC: Deise will spend the day and night getting to know the city. He will look for an inn to stay and meet up with party later at night.

Brannon nods at Caith's words. "We find our lodgings, and I will report to the Hearthfather. We can see then what he wishes to about making introductions."

Brannon returns Rachel's kisses on the cheek, and murmers "May the Red Fern unfurl.". He then bows and makes the sign of Brigantia. "Well met, Rachel. Thank you: Rooms are at a premium at this time of the year, I know." Turning to the others, he says: "I suggest we settle into our rooms. You may then explore the city as you see fit. For myself, I have my duties to attend to. That done, let us meet again at dinner, this evening."

Turning back to Rachel, he says: "Please: lead on!"
