Perhaps the advice for the Labyrinth of take the sinister path still holds?

With assent from the group Osric will form up beside Usopi and head down the left hand passage his sword at the ready, scanning the passage for hidden traps and attackers.

I thought we DIDN'T want to go the sinister way...

I also thought (like Usopi) that the sinister path is what we were advised to follow, but avoid any place marked with a black star.

Deise is content to head with the two giant warriors and search for traps using INNER SENSE.

Sounds like a plan. I'm reluctant to go into that fog unless we have to...

Perhaps Giles can use his see enchantment permanent spell via spell
mastery to see if the cloaks, circlets and braziers are magical without Caith spending MP?

Query cos I'm on my phone and looking stuff up on phone sucks..

Is the permanent spell still available when the Mystic is Psychically Fatigued?

A mastered spell is effectively ‘always- on . . .
It continues to function even after the Mystic becomes psychically fatigued.

Ditto that! Hurrah for Usopi!

Although how the extraordinary exploits of Osric in slaying two deadly foes (admittedly the 1st one with just a little help ;-) and the 2nd only by the grace of the dice gods...still not sure how he survived...) and wielding an ancient and magnificent blade of a long dead king failed to rate a mention only Gatanades knows :-)

I have a sneaking suspicion that at least a couple of other party members feature in some way in that awesome fanzine....ahem

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

That new fangled Spell Mastery stuff for Mystics does have it's uses. :)

Though Giles could probably use some pointers on what he's seeing in terms of knowing the aura of one sort of enchantment from another from someone with more experience in that sort of thing.

Glad to see Usopi get his name in print, and frankly I'm not worried about Caith not being name-dropped in the tale thus far, as making an igloo is more practical a feat of magic than making a smarter than average bear, not to mention more useful to the party's survival at the time.

PS: As this is Post#1007 for this thread, perhaps it's time for a new OOC thread?

Lol, thanks folks.

As for name drops, I was trying to figure out how to get every body in there, but didn’t want to make it overly long. XD

Well written and highly evocative. It was one of those journal articles that I expected to trail off unfinished ... as if something happened to the author mid sentence.

Would it be worth having a short rest here while it's relatively safe? I don't know about the other spellcasters, but Leaf could do with some meditation before another big battle. Are there others who haven't fully healed yet?

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

Thoughts before we actually head into the fog;

something in the fog killed the "brothers" that the priests took down there, which means there's something in the fog.

Do we want to fight it or try to pass by it unnoticed?

If we all put on the robes and go down there we might be able to sneak past without incident, BUT if the thing(s) in the fog requires not just priestly garments but also sacrifices to distract them then they may attack us anyway?

If we want to go assuming we will inevitably have to fight, we could have the tanky characters go down without robes and circlets with the intention of focusing the hostiles on the PCs that are better suited to survive being the targets of the enemy actions and giving the more squishy PCs the chance to surprise whatever is down there without being priority targets, at least at first.

As for what staircase to use, I say we just take the left-hand staircase, since going left has seemed to work out so far.

just my thoughts.

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

All good points. If some sacrifice is required then whether we’re “disguised” or not probably won’t help us.

I wonder though whether the priests have to traverse this pit to go about their days and do whatever evil priests do... so maybe no sacrifice is required in which case we could be drawing attacks unnecessarily.  But then again maybe there’s a “staff” entrance and this way forward is only for ceremonial purposes and special occasions?!

It’s a tricky one, but Osric’s vote is that we all proceed in costume in the possibly faint hope that in the dark we might gain some surprise or small advantage over any more bad guys we encounter and maybe even capture one and persuade him or her to show us the fast and safe route to the king (if there is one...).

Just my 2.2 Florins worth...

Yeah I mean if it gets real we armoured folk can ditch robes and give the enemy the good news while the others still press on hopefully. May as well at least try to use what we've learned imo. To chime in late.

A bit lost. Some of us are dressed as acolytes while some are not?
Or are we all dressed up? If one person is not dressed we might invite questions from other dark priests. I feel if we are all disguised it might buy us a round or two of surprise and that could be enough.
Either way, as he is near useless in a fight, Deise will light a crozier and carry it down the stairs as ordered when we are ready to go.

I'm going to interpret that as Deise voting for ' all disguised' which decides it.

Companions are dressing in robes and circlets, lighting croziers nd going down left stirs.
