Osric Grim:
Did Osric hit this round?  If so ABR 14 must have carved that stone head like butter!

It was already down by the time he got a swing.

Caith Cernach:
I'd think it was more a team effort there, Osric, and it apparently wasn't made of stone as Leaf understands it, but I'll not otherwise argue about how the damage done.

GM:

I never said that the GM wouldn't though... XD

In the meanwhile, Caith will go get on with her tasks as designated healer and general dogsbody IC.

Might have to cope with the -4 hp, as it puts Usopi low on treatment priority for the moment. Tough fella there, and the gauntlets make a big difference.

Deise:
Deise has 8 of his 16hp remaining. Also have a potion that can be taken.

Better use it now. If Deise can find a way through Darkness to wherever the birds took the Hearthflame and old king to, he needs to be ready for trouble. If he can't find a path in Darkness, the party are stuck with trying with Air or worse still, Water again.

Osric:
Osric’s down to 12HP from 20HP and would greatly appreciate that healin feelin if there’s any going!

OK, Osric's currently top of the list for a Greater Healing and a hit of fungi powder with that lot.

If Colm drank his healing potion to deal with the mess of being being hooked, how is he doing now?

How are Doron and Uthen doing HP wise? Giles got 7 hp back from the Greater Healing from Caith before the waterbeast vanished/died/damned if I know.

Alphail is currently at about the same HP as Deise AFAIK.

There's your 8 HP, and if this plan doesn't work out, nice knowing you all, and please find that damn Hearthflame and Doron's Uncle ASAP.

I'm really hoping Caith and Diese aren't dead, but could someone poke their sword or spear though? Just to see if it can be pulled back, or at least get a better idea of what "cut" the rope?

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

That's not a bad idea - though it's best if we use something we don't mind losing! It may be that whatever teleports or disintegrates things (hopefully the former!) will just take/destroy whatever part of the item we put through.

Actually, GM, what did the end of the "cut" rope look like?

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

So it's probably down to the magic, not whatever is on the other side (if anything).

I think if we stick a sword through, we'll just end up with half a sword!

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

So, we know for certain fire and earth don't go anywhere. Nobody suspected wind at all but I guess we could check it to make sure. I'm guessing the water trap was the creature we fought, though I guess we haven't explicitly looked in the pool to see if anything has changed since last we mucked with it.

As daunting as the idea of just jumping into a magical kill trap is, I'm pretty sure we're going through the correct pillar and the magical transportation just cuts off anything sticking out of the totem. Even if Caith can't get us a magical communication before our 100 count, I don't know what other options there are.

Maybe we should pair off: a spell caster with a fighter? Eggs in the same basket and all that.

Is that how we were paired up for our marching order?

Does Leaf recall how much room was in the fire statue? And what happened to the rope that was projecting out?

Just saying....probably best Osric at least goes by himself....or parts could be lost.

Caith did mention counting to a hundred heartbeats before anyone else tried entering the statue.

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

If I recall correctly, the ghostly image trick was used when Caith got stuck inside the wall in the underground temple to the war god. So pretty sure we’re good to go. We can test the air totem if yall want, but if it summons another monster like the “water” pool did we’re already down a few people who’ve gone through the dark totem.

Either way, I defer to any command decision made by the bosses. ;)

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

That's why Alphail asked the three nearest people he could think of who would know about elemental forces and ancient magics if it was a good idea to mess about with the Air statue or not.

Going last in line, shooting an arrow in and watching what happens from cover is his plan. Any further suggestions or refinements are welcomed.

PS: 60 to 100 heartbeats/minute for a healthy adult human at rest. Less for a hyper-athletic type, more for someone working out or freaking out.

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

For those that may not have picked up, Leaf has a spell that allows her to walk on water. I don't know what the point of the 'water' is, but like someone mentioned, it might be a 'purification' or 'sense of motivation' or something that lets us go through the
GM:
grey swirling barrier of energy, nacreous and completely opaque, obscures the archway.

But, I had a thought that Leaf could walk on top, and:

a) hold the things that shouldn't get wet
b) potentially hold up those who might not swim so well (or those who have heavy armour)
c) have a weapon ready in case of attack

If we get to the other side and the archway requires you to have gone through the pool, she could always go back and walk through quickly?

She could also run across and secure a rope that people could hold onto as they travel across.

Let me know what you guys think! :)

In the case of tying a rope up to help folks cross the pool, is there anything to tie a rope to on the other side of the pool?

If the pillars at the Mega-Osidiak courtyard were anything to go by, I suspect that this place lets you know that you haven't followed the correct path by trying to kill you! xD

I'm getting that OSR meatgrinder vibe: touch nothing, since anything might kill you! But if we stay where we are, we die anyway...
