Nicely done Brannon and Deise!

Do they appear to be wet?

They are indeed wet.

It's a mission in progress, but that looks like a door to me. Alright! :)

Might have to get the backpacks wet after all.
Think Caith still has some waxed leather food sacks that might work for keeping delicate or dangerous substances dry though.

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

So just to clarify, there's a staircase leading down into the deeper pool in the center, and another coming up out of it toward the portal? So sort of like this;

 Portal
   ||
  (  )
   ||
Other side
  of the
  room

Which would mean that we could feasibly lower ourselves into the liquid from alongside the far staircase, so that it would just be our legs submerged?

I'm assuming that we have to at least be IN the pool for the door to open given my hard tack experiment didn't open a tiny hard tack sized hole in the portal.

There is no exposed staircase on the archway side, you simply step out of the pool and through the arch.

The piece of hard tack is however not visible....so it either went through....or was utterly annihilated.

So this shimmering grey barrier isn’t a door or elaborate curtain of some description?
Is it cloud like?

Its weird, it has properties of a spider web...but its a solid, uniform shape....maybe its magic? But it seemed to physically pull away from Brannon and Deise.

GM, as Turren comes closer, how steady does he feel in his plate as he follows Brannon's path? He'll go all the way to them unless it looks like the plate will be an issue. And if he must dunk under, he'll simply keep pressing forward rather than bothering to 'swim up' , knowing that by not faltering he must soon arrive at the other end.

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

I guess I'm fine to fully submerge everything and pass through the portal, in whatever order seems best. Colm's suggestion that a fighter goes through first makes sense to me just in case something hostile is right on the other side.

My only worry at this point is that the inky liquid might be bad for our rations, but on the other hand, if things that go through the portal not covered in the fluid are annihilated or don't pass through, as the hardtack experiment would suggest, NOT dunking the food at all might mean we just lose all of it...

How long is the pool? Can we easily see Diese and Brannon on the other side? Would we be able to see how the barrier reacts? Or would we have to call out to them?

If I type it IC then you can see it.  If not it would be in PM to the relevant folks. ;)

About 8m long.  The chamber is fairly well lit with multiple lanterns.

If the current theory is that the liquid has to cover everything that goes through the barrier, or it won't go through at all, then I better go edit Caith's IC post.

EDIT: And it's done.

To be fair, from the description of the room in game, it seems these cultist chaps had the same interior decorator as the 1990's Hellfire Club in Melbourne did.

Re: OOC Thread No. 8

Question for GM.

Just clarifying, we are on a platform looking over a room of swirling mists the mist is below us.
Two stairs descend into the mist - one left and one right.
Then there are two passageways leading East and West. Do these lead from the stairs or are they on the platform where we are currently?
Sorry for being pedantic?

All correct. Passageways on the platform

Thank you for clarifying! I thought the passageways were down the stairs.

Like Usopi is doing, I would check out the throne. Then look for any Black Stars.

Then I would ask... I can't remember if it was Giles or Deise who has the ability to see where the King and Hearthflame was. Does that still work in here?
