September 13th, 1880. Morning. Deadwood, Sioux nations

Roger's display of cartomancy proved to be predictable, if interesting. He flipped his cards for The Professor, stated that the man was a man of science, well-traveled, but with a dark and tragic past. He predicted that The Professor would make a number of friends around town, and that a meeting with an old acquaintance would happen very soon.

After that, Mrs. Fairchild served dinner for the guests of the boarding house. Those who weren't staying there were curtly asked to leave, so Black Jack and Zach returned to the High Time Saloon.


The night passed uneventfully. Despite the boarding house's reputation, no ghosts bothered Janet or The Professor. When they came down for breakfast, however, Nate Williams wasn't there. Mrs. Fairchild mentioned that he'd "decided not to stay" and had left early that morning.

((OOC: So, what are your character's plans for the day? Give me a post on what you are going to be up to, and I'll work things in. Janet and The professor stayed at the Boarding House, while Jack and Zachery stayed at the High Time Saloon.))

"Decided not to stay?  That's odd." The Professor commented over breakfast, but knowing Nate he expected that the man was 'called away' to take care of something or other.

"Miss Weiss, what is it that brings you to Deadwood?" He asked over a buttered piece of toast.

OOC - The Professor will be headed over to the Langrishe theater to ask around about Charlie Bull. But first, a civilized breakfast! ;-)

"I'm the secretary for a man named Maddox.  Perhaps you could help me run some errands for him?  I need to talk to a reporter."  Janet toyed with her orange juice.  "Rather, I need to see if he's got something in his files."

"Ah yes, The Bounty Hunter.  I met Mr. Maddox yesterday when I arrived in town. He was trying to organize a posse to hunt down a Chinese woman he claimed was a thief. And you are his....secretary are you?"

The Professor simply smiled and sipped his tea

Janet giggled.  "He is a little overzealous, isn't he?  Well, press secretary to be honest, and only for the election.  It's actually quite the opportunity.  Might I inquire as to your objective in Deadwood?  Why are you looking for Charlie Bull?"

"That's a bit complicated, but I believe he is key to averting a great catastrophe, though exactly how I am still unsure of."

The comment was rather offhanded, as if it were just a bit of small talk over the breakfast meal.

"Oh?"  Janet poured more tea for the Professor.  "Well, I've got some time.  What kind of catastrophe?"

After leaving the Boarding House Jack saw his youthful ward home to the brothel. After excused himself to seek some entertainment.


The next day he suggested they seek out the Professor and then go seek out McCall and or Bull.

"I'm not certain exactly. Damage to the spacetime continuum that will unleash devastation upon the Earth." He took a sip of the freshly poured tea.  "This is lovely. I'll ave to remember to ask Mrs. Fairchild where she acquired this tea from."
