True. But Fred Ayers also lived through the attack on the marshal's office (he was one of the guys Lee knocked out).

Don't worry.  I have a plan already in motion.  ;)

Re: BS artistry.

Well here's how it works with The Stray:

1.  Really awful situation occurs.
2.  Extensively plan the best possible response to mitigate the impact with all involved parties.  Negotiations are complex and extensive.  Character motivations have to be re-examined.  New resources usually have to be acquired before the plan proper can be engaged at all.
3. ????
4.  And now you are naked, surrounded by Prairie Ticks riding the ghostly steeds of Hanging Judges, and all you have is a spatula.

Usually, it's this:

3. Something catastrophic happens because of information the PCs didn't have/a new villain reveals himself/people act like people and act emotionally rather than logically, and the "carefully crafted plan" falls apart.

Re: BS artistry.

Meh, that wasn't THAT bad compared to what could have happened.  Glorious failure here would have been insulting Kang so much Jade just quietly vanished in the night and was never heard from again.

Being told GTFO is just par for the course under those circumstances.  Although I am at a bit of a loss what to do now.

Re: BS artistry.

Well, it was a bit more polite than that, but sure.

I'm not quite sure, either, because Kang was the one doing all the talking in my brain, and he made some connections just by listening to what Jade was saying. This is the classic sort of "the character comes alive and runs with things" you hear about. But all is not lost. just make your report. I'm sure Jade and Speakman will be able to come up with another plan, and there's another thing about to occur that will make things...happen.

Well even Kang admitted the basic idea wasn't terrible and it was just bad freaking luck he happened to be there.

C'est la vie!

Sorry for the absence. I was visiting my folks today. I think I may have pulled something in my back.

Edit: The pain is ebbing, so the back spasm is probably nothing major, just a strain.

I imagine the sound of a man having a generous blob of hot pitch shaken over him as being fairly indicative of trouble, myself.

Re: Got a light?

Warning:  Due to the fact there's apparently not a single spare cable modem in any of Time Warner's offices in the entire metro area to be had, I have to wait until a service tech can come.

My internet availability will be no bueno for a while.

Nah.  I decided to get my own equipment, to be better prepared to fire this sorry ISP.  Also I won't have to pay extra fees once I bring them their broken junk back, so it'll pay for itself in about a year.

This is a mighty thing

I was in the Royal Ontario Museum today.

This is Sitting Bull's actual hat. (Also his scalp-tasseled warrior shirt in the background there, but the low light for preservation meant no flash, so I gave up making a shaky mess of that)

That is cool beyond awesome.

Sorry I've been not very active the last couple days--spotty internet again. To pass the time I've been reading the Dresden Files books, so even more of my time has vanished. Normal posting should resume soon.
