Nah, Jack succeeded on his Storytellin' roll, so the Fear Level in that part of town is only 5. Very bad, yes, but still salvageable.

Though yeah, the lack of banjos and zombie hunters could be an issue, especially if Dolores does a lot of dancing up on Mount Moriah.

LOL. I was thinking the same thing, but the poor lad has already encountered a string of NPCs already. Of course, if he keeps looking for McCall, he's bound to find him eventually...

...and the crater?

Ugh. Well, if the Jellicles hit town, then maybe Those guys will show up.

Be found by him, more like. Unless McCall's still getting hits at the same old places, in which case he'll probably be quite easy to locate.

Still a crater, though the town fathers will probably try to get it filled in right quick. That's a major road near the train station, after all.

Heh. A possibility.

*innocent look* or that, yes. Given he provokes fear checks now, I think he'd have trouble getting service at the House of Heavenly Delights.

With what funding? That said, crumbling empire or no, Swearengen will probably have toughs down at the Gem as soon as it cools, 'cause there're going to be a lot of shiny puddles around the place in the bar area...

It'd be fun, but I won't expect them.

Exactly: just follow the screams.

Fairchild's Boarding House:
((OOC: Yup, exactly like that. Nice, that's a Raise.))

Zek, being quite the mountain man, is not bothered at all lifting the dresser and doing so quietly.

Carve into the floor are some words

quote:
I̧f̡ ͏y͘oų ̷wo̸u̵l̕d͜ f̵i͏n̡d iţ, ̛see͡k̴ ͞ǵu͡idąn͠ce̕ wit҉h ̴t͜h̀é LO͝R̕D.
An̷s̸wers̛ can be found iņ ́Ez҉e̵ki̧el 25:̴17

Well, that was cryptic.

Hell, Moses quoted that part already!

I'm not entirely sure what Janet's plan was, jumping into a room filled with nervous soldiers with itchy trigger fingers who had just gone toe-to-toe with a scrap 'glom...

I can only guess that you thought the room was empty? And you were trying to call the worms by stomping on the floor?

You know, of all the villains in this game, I didn't expect the House to be the most formidable. Zek is like the fourth or fifth PC to tangle with it, and the only reason it hasn't really messed with Janet is because she has allies vouching for her.

Not really sure what to do in this situation. What am I gonna do, shoot the house? Maybe with a cannon...and I sure plan to burn it to the ground if I ever get out. Is my looking for an exit after realizing it could not actually change its shape working? It must be, it threw a pitcure at me after I figured that out...

Re: Because I'm a glutton for punishment, apparently...

Actually, it threw the picture at you because you insulted it. Living houses actually can alter their inner structure at will, creating dead-end rooms, false doors, and so on. The limitations on this is that it can't create things--the stuff it has to work with are the materials already present in the house. So it couldn't say, create a stone room with no exits--it could make a wooden room and then put a wall behind behind the doors and windows, hold portals closed through Strength, and do things like put the laundry chute behind a false wall. But this is not a thing you fight. Not while inside it, anyway. This is something you either trick, bargain with, or threaten. Only one person has successfully threatened it, and that's because she took the precaution of carrying half a crate of dynamite with her in a shoulder satchel. Or, if you can find the Master of the House (or trick the house into putting you in contact with them), you could ask them to call it off.

Think of the house as a bratty kid that likes to use magnifying glasses on ant hills or pull the wings off of flies suddenly given the power to do that to people.

That is correct. It can't stop you from ghosting. But it's not really after you, anyway...it finds Harrowed aren't as fun to play with as living, breathing, screaming people.

I figured. But the soldiers are lost, they are angry, and they are armed. I think the best you can hope for is to surrender and wait for an opportunity to sweet-talk someone who isn't in a killing mood.

There I am!

((OOC: Alrighty. The town doctor is able to treat Von Steinhof's wound and both of Manning's wounds. Getting a bath and a brush is somewhat difficult this time of night, what with the fires and all, but doable. All in all, it will take Von Stienhof about 2 hours and will cost him $6.))
