James remained where he was, very sure he didn't want to get shot full of holes by these Union folk.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Union Troops:
"Fuck..." Wells grunts, holding up her gatling pistol.

"There will be no need for that." Says the reverend. The mud squishes as he walks, seeming to get closer. "Because I am surrendering to your custody. With the Princess of Worms dead...well, there is no point to continuing this, is there?"

Bullock shifts his pistol from his right to his left and takes the gatling from Jackie. He looks into the Reverend's direction, murderous rage in his eyes.
He slowly raises the the gatling, then, a long second later, as the Reverend shuffles closer and closer through the mud, pulls the arm back, then swings it in a wide arc, hammering the gatling's grip against the reverend's temple.

Trying to knock him out cold.
20:55, Today: Seth Bullock rolled 3,9 using d8+1,d6+1, rerolling max with rolls of 2,(6+2)8. Wild attack, wound.
20:56, Today: Seth Bullock rolled 7,3,9 (10 or 19, depending on if the attack is a raise). using d6+2,d4,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,3,(6+3)9. Strength+wild, pistol, raise,.

((OOC: You get The Drop on Gusano, so that's an extra 4 attack and 4 damage. So yes, it's a raise, and that comes to 23 total. Ow.))

The strike hits home, and the Reverend crumples to the ground.

"Nice shot." Jackie says.

"I should fucking burn him alive", Bullock says, handing back the gatling to Jackie.
He twists the reverend around and ties up his hands behind his back.
"But I'll watch you dance at the end of a fucking rope, you son of a bitch."
He listens at the noise upstairs.
"Think they got her?"

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

"I learned...not to be sure...until I saw the body with my own eyes." Jackie grunts as she pulls herself to her feet. She takes the gun back and sighs. "This dress...is probably ruined."

There's a click, and a shaft of light appears at the other end of the cellar. Apparently the last Cultist down here figured out how to unbar the door. There's a brief shadow over the door...then the RAT-TAT-TAT of a Gatling rifle.

"Listen up down there!" someone shouts. "Throw down your guns, throw up your hands, and come out of there peacefully, or you will get the same treatment as your friend here!"

Han does his best to avoid the rifle fire, trying to shield the wounded patients from any sort of ricochet. He swore in Chinese but tried to take heart that the good guys were here.  He hoped that they viewed him as a good guy as well.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Janet cringed in pain, and held up her hands, once she was sure the door was bolted.  "Don't shoot!" she screamed.  "Something horrible has happened to the marshal!  The only way to save him is to stamp your feet until we drive the beasts off!"

OOC: *Now* we get to the BS roll.  I got a 6, which is good but not good enough, so I'm spending that Legend chip to get them, for a total of 13.

13:31, Today: Janet Weiss rolled 7 using 1d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 5. Legend Chip.
13:28, Today: Janet Weiss rolled 6,6 using d8+3,d6+3, rerolling max with rolls of 3,3. Persuasion.13:23, Today: Janet Weiss rolled 9,5 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+3)9,5. Reroll.
13:23, Today: Janet Weiss rolled 1,3 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,3. Soak.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

"Down on the ground!" The Sargent shouts. "Down on the ground and shut up, or by God in heaven I will end you! You want to make your case, you can do it before Custer!"

((OOC: Hmm...they heard Bullock shouting that you were the cult leader, which made them automatically Hostile towards you. High roll aside, these aren't the type of folks who will believe ANYONE right now...their goal is to round people up and sort this out at the Grand Hotel. And that's a pretty difficult story to swallow when they already know that they were here to stop a cult that kidnapped Bullock's wife and tried to do the same to his son (who is back out front, waiting to hear what's become of his daddy) and blew up the jail. Janet's tale is provably untrue, which is going to be a -2 penalty on top of her wound, dropping your roll to 11. I think the best you can hope for out of this exchange is that they stop shooting you. You manage to move their attitude to Uncooperative, but that's high as it's going to get until the situation changes.))

Bullock waits for the clamor above to die down a little.

"MARSHAL BULLOCK AND DEPUTY COMING UP NOW. DON'T SHOOT, WE HAVE A PRISONER!"

With that, he heaves the Reverend onto his shoulder and goes up.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Jackie limps along behind, tucking her gatling pistol into the holster hidden under her dress.

"Thought we were the law here." she mutters.

Outside, about half a dozen soldiers stand in a ring around the cellar door. The other bounty hunter, Lonefeather, is there with his hands already bound.

"We are taking you all in until we get this mess sorted out." one of the soldiers says. "Resist in any way, and we will shoot you where you stand. Is that clear?"

"Hey, we're the good guys here!" Jackie protests.

"Maybe you are. Maybe you aren't. But as of one hour ago, Deadwood is under martial law. General Custer is now the highest authority here. He will decide what to do with all of you. You will be taken to the Grand Central Hotel, to await questioning about the events of this evening. When our investigation is concluded, you will be held until a determination can be made. Now, surrender to custody and we can sort this out. Resist, and be shot."

Han complies, and when he gets a moment will softly tell the Marshall, "I believe your wife and your partner will both make it through this evening. Assuming the Union troops will consent to have a doctor look over them. I would suggest it myself, but I was very close to be shot at least twice. I do not think the Union is fond of my people."

Bullock's face lights up, with a hint of doubt on his face, at Han's news.
"Who's in charge here?" he asks of the closest soldier, as he hands him his empty revolver.
When the squad leader is pointed out to him, he adds: "There are civilians, my wife and y dear friend of mine, who were wounded and will need immediate medical attention. I'd be obliged if you'd see to that."

To Jackie, he mutters: "Calm down, Deputy Wells. One thing at a time."

((OOC: Unless Janet wants to try to do anything other than surrender, I'm going to assume the soldiers have marched you all outside.))

"Sargent Danforth is, sir." The trooper says as he takes the gun. "I will be sure to pass that along to him."

"This is some bullshit." Jackie mutters, but doesn't make any false movements.

James Lonefeather and James Wilder are able to meet up as the soldiers gather the survivors together. "So. Fun evening on the town, wasn't it?" he smirks.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

"Uh huh." Jackie says. "Janet Weiss, alias Janet Majors, alias Elmira Whateley, you are wanted in Denton county, Texas by the Rangers for questioning about the events of the 21st of July, 1880, with a $200 bounty in Confederate scrip offered for your safe return or half that for confirmation of your death. You are also wanted by the Bayou Vermillion railroad, with the same amount posted, except they don't care if you're alive or dead when they git ya. You have been seen, multiple times, consorting with another person of interest, Roger Sebastian, alias Roger Sebastian Whateley, who is a suspect in the mysterious disappearances of at least three women of his acquaintance, and who is also a person of interest in a recent theft from the Iron Dragon depot. You have also been implicated, through a confession witnessed by two officers of the law, in instigating the kidnapping and attempted murder of Martha Bullock, Stanley Bullock, and Soloman Star, as well as the destruction via arson of the Bullock residence, Bullock and Star outfitters, and the Deadwood marshal's office and jail."

She gives Janet a chilly smile. "You're no more an undercover agent than I'm the Queen of Sheba. You might be able to song and dance Custer. You ain't gonna song and dance me, and you certainly ain't gonna sweettalk the thing that used to be Jack McCall when it regains its faculties and decides to get vengeance on all our asses. I told you back when I met you, and I'm telling you now. If you manage to get clear o' this, get out o' town while you still can. I ain't your only problem any more."

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

The troops just stare at the two.

The Sargent shakes his head. "I was doing that anyhow. I don't care what you bitches are catfighting about. Shut it."

Jackie begins singing something under her breath.

"#Jack McCall, Jack McCall
watch him crawling up the wall
Look overhead, or you will find
he's coming at you from behind
Look out! Here comes Jack McCall...#"

"Shut it!" The sargent says as he pushes them forward. Jackie continues smiling, and begins humming. It's an annoyingly catchy tune.

((OOC: It's sung to the tune of the Spiderman theme, if you're curious.))

Janet took a deep breath, and followed along.

"Keep moving, you!" One of the soldiers grunts, motioning towards the road.

"He did say we were all being brought in until this mess was sorted. I'm still hurt, you're hurt, that deputy's hurt, Bullock's hurt, that cult leader chick is hurt...I think the only one of us right now who could put up a fight is the Chinaman."

Soldiers begin bringing out bodies and the wounded on stretchers.

The nearest soldier shoves Wilder. "Move!"
