((OOC: Putting Lonefeather On hold for now.))

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

The thug, seeing Jackie defy his attack, starts swinging the shotgun even harder, attempting to break bones rather than knock her back. "Die, bitch! Die!" he screams at the top of his lungs.

Meanwhile, Sol steps out from behind the box, whip in his trembling hands. With a terrified yell, he starts snapping it at the cultist who'd shot at him. The frenzied lashing surprises the gunman, who yelps as the bullwhip tears bleeding lacerations on his face, arms...neck. Burbling, he goes down in a bloody heap.

Sol stares at the bleeding cultist. "I...I killed him." He mutters in shock. The whip tumbles from his hand.

Then Sol himself tumbles, blood blooming from his chest, as the gibbering cultist who shot Martha turns his gun on the now-exposed shopkeeper.

"Seth..." Sol manages, before collapsing in a heap.

"Your allies are dropping around you, Marshal." the mad preacher says gently, as if he were in a confessional instead of pitched battle. "It is time for you to acknowledge that you have lost. You cannot win. You cannot separate me from the worms, either...they are always with me. See."

Then he flicks his sleeve...and Bullock watches the Reverend's hand morph into a glistening purple tentacle, that slithers around him and begins wrapping him tight...

((OOC: The thug with the shotgun attempts to use is as a bludgeon to beat Jackie. It's an Improvised weapon that will deal Str+d6 damage on a hit, and he Wild Attacks to negate his penalty.

Fighting: -1 (improvised Weapon) +2 (Wild Attack) = +1

23:43, Today: Worm Cultists rolled 14 using 1d8+1, rerolling max with rolls of (8+5)13. Fighting! (with Wild Attack). Hit and Raise.

Damage: 21. That's a Shaken and 3 wounds unless she soaks.

The two riflemen continue to shoot at the civilians. Sol attempts to whip the one shooting at him. He's not great with a weapon, so he Wild Attacks.

23:49, Today: Sol Star rolled 7 using 1d4+2, rerolling max with rolls of (4+1)5. Fighting! (with Wild Attack). Hit.

Damage: 9. That will actually drop the cultist.

Of course, he had to come out of cover to hit the guy, so he's open for the guy who shot Bullock's wife to take a shot at him, too.

23:52, Today: Worm Cultists rolled 7 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+1)7. Shooting! Hit.

Damage: 9. Shaken and 1 Wound for Sol Star. Star will attempt to soak.

23:54, Today: Sol Star rolled 2 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2. Soak! Not even close. Sol drops, though he might, in fact, live if he gets medical attention while the fight is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, Gusano calls on dark magic to bind Bullock, using his Entangle power.

23:58, Today: Reverend Alonzo Gusano rolled 8,3 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 8,3. Spellcasting. Bullock, roll Agility to resist.

Card: QH))

12:44, Today: Seth Bullock rolled 2,3 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,3. Agility.

Death... death and mayhem all around. There is something in Bullock that wants to break down. With an immense effort, he beats this instinct down, his eyes narrowing at the sight of Cusano's tentacle hand.

His pistol was somewhere strewn on the floor.... so the only thing he had available right now was the bundle of dynamite in his hand.

Bullock pulls a match from his pocket and lights it, then ignites a single stick of dynamite, shoving it into Cusano's pocket.

Okay, trying the following...
Lighting a single stick, so that it goes off next round. Then pushing it into Cusano's clothes on the side of his tentacle hand (so he might have trouble pulling it out again), then dive away and wait for the blast.
Sooo... what do I roll? :-)

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

((OOC: I don't think you can cut the fuse that precisely without any actual experience in handling dynamite, so you'll have to settle for using it as a grenade. To plant it on him you'll need to roll Fighting at -4 (for a called shot to his pocket), which means it will do an extra die of damage if Gusano can't make the Agility (-4) check to throw it away from him). If you fail, you've dropped it, and it will do the base damage, and Gusano only needs to roll Agility (-2) to escape the blast. Either way, you'll need to make an Agility (-2) check yourself to dive out of the way of the blast.))

22:54, Today: Seth Bullock rolled -1,-1 using d8-4,d6-4, rerolling max with rolls of 3,3. White chip.
22:53, Today: Seth Bullock rolled 0,-2 using d8-4,d6-4, rerolling max with rolls of 4,2. Fighting, called shot to pocket.

Not good.

22:55, Today: Seth Bullock rolled -1,1 using d8-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 1,3. Agility.

Even worse.

23:06, Today: Seth Bullock rolled 9 using 2d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4,5. dynamite damage cusano.
23:05, Today: Seth Bullock rolled 3 using 2d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,1. dynamite damage.

... or at least he tries to. The match lights up real nice, but the fuse burns quicker than the marshal had anticipated. Panicking, Bullocks fumbles the stick of dynamite into Cusano's direction, but misses the reverend's pocket.
The stick drops between Cusano's feet. Bullock dives down, and the heat of the explosions washes over him.
Lucky for him, it seems the dynamite had gotten wet.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

The dynamite, wet or not, still has enough kick to knock the Reverend back into the crates and daze him for a few moments, but Bullock only has time to note that Jackie is not doing so well beneath the beating she's taking from the cultist. In fact, the last blow hits her square in the solar plexus and sends her staggering back before dropping her down the black pit, out of sight.

The burly cultists grunts and kicks the trap door down, and starts hauling a crate over it to keep any more do-gooders from coming up from below. Bullock has been cut off from his allies. He's now quite alone.

((OOC: Reverend Gusano gets a chance to avoid the boom. He rolls Agility at -2 (because of Bullock's failure to get it where it would do more harm.

02:35, Today: Reverend Alonzo Gusano rolled 3,1 using d8-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 5,3. Agility.

Not good enough, so he takes 9 damage from the blast. That makes him Shaken.

With Jackie back under my control until the player is past RL issues, I'll spend a chip and make a soak from Jackie. since I don't know Jackie's current chip totals, this will be one from my own stash. According to Jackie's bio line, she has 1 wound on her already.

02:40, Today: The Stray, on behalf of Jackie Wells, rolled 0,0 using d8-1,d6-1, rerolling max with rolls of 1,1. Soak!

ouch. Critical failure. Jackie is going down.

02:41, Today: The Stray, on behalf of Jackie Wells, rolled 3,-1 using d8-3,d6-3, rerolling max with rolls of 6,2. Incapacitation.
02:42, Today: The Stray, on behalf of Jackie Wells, rolled 5 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5. Red Chip.

She makes the incapactiation roll with a Raise, so she's only going to be injured for 24 hours or until she gets all her wounds healed. until then, she is going to be down to a d6 Vigor. I guess this is what comes of letting me pilot all the characters. :P))

Han Lee, it is, at long last, your turn. From where you are, you just heard something fall down into the pit behind you, and it looked vaguely like the deputy. You're up!

There's a groan from the figure on the muddy ground, which makes it easy for Hand Lee to find her. It's Deputy Wells, and from the way she's clutching her chest it seems like she might have a broken rib or two.

((OOC: Wells has 3 wounds and is Incapacitated. You need to spend an action to heal the Incapacitation before you can get to work on the wounds, but removing Incapacitation doesn't have any penalties on the heal check (or heal power). All you've done so far is moved, so you still have your action left.))

James notes that his pistol is empty and he doesn't have any more bullets on him - something about having his gun and gun belt taken by indians or the like comes to mind. He quickly looks around for a pistol, gun belt or even a knife to aid him in going to help the sheriff.

[edit]
Seeing a rifle that one of the cultists had, James retrieves the weapons and, after checking it for ammo, heads to down to do what he can.

OOC: I believe James was just given a gun and zero extra bullets - good times!

[edit] Not sure how far James will get move towards Bullock

He tries to push the trap door open and if a simple push does not succeed then he prepares to use his extensive martial arts training to do the trick.

Trying a basic strength check before I try to kick thru this floor:

Han Lee has to leap, but he can make it through the trap door. He finds himself in a cramped room filled with boxes, blood, the smell of gunpowder, and moving bodies...three cultists have rifles drawn, while Bullock is in a knife fight with a purple-skinned man in preacher garb. There's two fellows with rifles and one with a shotgun.

And reach him I shall try to do.

Han takes a quick glance around and sets his sights on the first cultist he sees.  He is long past the point of trying to negotiate with these villains. They have already caused and unconscious amount of pain on this town.

He leaps towards the man, and tries to hit him twice, once in the torso and then across the back of the head.

01:54, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 6,4 using 1d10,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 6,4. Fighting 1.

01:54, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 2,4 using 1d10,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,4. Fighting 2.

So one hit on the cultist.
