OOC: Sounds bout right.
James sat quiet at the door before him, blood still seeping from his wounds. He felt tired and leaned on the rifle he'd picked up from the cultist. "Anyone in there?" he mused at the door.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

((OOC: GM posting, as I'm unsure of Han Lee's player coming back))

"There is." Says a quiet, accented voice that Wilder recognizes as the Chinese man with all the martial arts. "Now, please do not distract, me, I am trying to save lives."

((OOC: Han Lee attempts to save Martha Bullock, who is Incapacitated and on the verge of death.

12:31, Today: The Stray, on behalf of Doctor Han Lee, rolled 5,4 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,4. Healing (power). He succeds, beyond all odds.

I check to see whether Sol Star survives.

12:35, Today: Sol Star rolled 8 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+2)8. Vigor. Awesome. Bullock is going to have some good news once he finishes with the basement.))

From behind Wilder, there comes a pounding. It sounds like someone is knocking on the door of the hardware shop. "Open up! Open up in there, or we will break this door down!"

The wounded gunslinger walked towards the other door. He paused to try and look out any nearby window to see who was making the racket before going to door.

It looks like a squad of armed and angry soldiers from what Wilder can see. "Throw down your guns and open this door!" the Sargent shouts. "You have until the count of ten! One!...Two!..."

((OOC:@ Janet, Bullock: The only light down here comes from the open trapdoor above and the open cellar door, leaving the rest of the cellar in pitch darkness, so all Notice checks are at -4. Still, that's a mighty roll. It comes to 7, even after the darkness penalty. Do you want to take an action to reload, or take a MAP to reload in the same action as you shoot? Jackie Wells still has her caseless ammo Gatling pistol (which is just a trapping for the bolt power) if you want ask her about it.))

Bullock squints into the gloom. The light from the storeroom above and the open cellar door don't provide much light, either for Janet or Bullock. But rage gives Bullock clarity, and he spies a form creeping towards the open cellar door.

Below him, Jackie grunts in pain.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Han steps away from the wounded and tries to wipe the blood off his hands

"Please, must there be such shouting. There are gravely wounded people here, and if you have light, then the sheriff could use you in the basement." Han calls from inside. He tries not to let his nerves and the overwhelming craziness of the situation affect his voice. As a Doctor he was always proud of his rather even but authoritative bedside voice, he hoped it would help diffuse the Union soldiers from doing anything rash.

The troops barge past James (though a couple of them keep waving rifles in his face) and proceed to the door to the basement.

In response to Han's shout, one of the troops shouts back, "Throw down your weapons and open this Goddamned door, or Heaven help me I will take a stick of dynamite to it!"

((OOC: Han Lee, these troops are on edge and looking to shoot someone. A Chinese target would likely be on their list of things to shoot, possibly just out of hand when they bust that door down and see Han covered in blood. So I'm going to need you to make a Persuasion check to see how well they mind your words.))

Janet took stock of the basement, then closed the cellar door behind her and bolted it.  She quickly made her way to the trap door, and started up.

OOC: Or as close to that as I can, I think I was right next to the cellar door.

Not sure if I can use the aim maneuver here, which I'd probably need....

Damage, just in case:
23:12, Today: Seth Bullock rolled 15 using 2d6+1, rerolling max with rolls of 3,(6+5)11. Damage?

Bullock aims at the dark form, using his second hand to safely line up the shoot, then squeezes the trigger.

I'll edit the post once I know if I hit anything or not...

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Down in the Cellar, Janet closes the cellar door and heads toward the trap door...and she's just in time to get shot by Bullock, scanning for movement in the darkness.

There's a pounding on the cellar door as the cultist headed that way bangs on the now closed and bolted door, and a fumbling with the latch.

((OOC: 17:27, Today: The Stray got the result "As I see it, yes" on the magic 8-ball. Does Janet get hit? Sorry, Janet.

15 damage against Janet is a Shaken and 2 wounds unless she soaks.))

In reply to Doctor Han Lee (msg # 272):

The door slams open.

"God in heaven, this place is a fucking mess." One soldier mutters.

Another soldier swings around to cover Han Lee with his rifle, but thankfully doesn't seem trigger-happy.

There's a shot from the open trap door.

"Marshal Bullock!" The Sargent in charge shouts. "Marshal, can we render assistance?"

Janet yelps in pain  "Don't shoot!  I'm here to help!"  She started to scoot her way over to the cellar.  "Quick, go check on her!  I'll go get help."

Spend a Red chip o a soak, and a blue to get the bonus, but I soaked 1 wound.

Yup, that one.  I forgot the wound penalty, but I still made it with a raise.

00:11, Today: Janet Weiss rolled 2,11 using d4,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,(6+5)11. Strength check.

Janet nimbly hopped up through the trap door.  "I'll be right back!" she whispered.  Then, she closed the door and bolted it shut.  She started stomping on the ground, rhythmically, as hard as she could.

(If Janet sees anyone, she'll raise her hands in surrender, but won't stop stamping, and is readying one of her patented BS stories.)

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

The half-dozen or so Union troops standing around in the store room are taken aback by Janet's sudden appearance and her locking the door and stomping on it.

But at Bullock's shout, they move into action. They raise their rifles in unison and begin shooting.

((OOC: Did you skim the previous posts about the troops arriving? Of course, Janet has a habit of leaping before she looks, but there was important situational information there. Unless her plan is to fake death by being shot down, I'm not really seeing her plan come together.

Anyhoo, the Soldier begin shooting at Janet.

09:49, Today: Union Troops rolled 3,9,3,3,3,1 using d6,d6,d6,d6,d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,(6+3)9,3,3,3,1. Shooting!

Only 1 hit, but it's with a Raise.

09:53, Today: Union Troops rolled 8,2 using 2d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 6,2,2. Damage.

Total of 10 damage, which is a Shaken and 1 Wound for Janet unless she soaks.))

The sound of half a dozen rifle rounds cracking off filers down into the darkened cellar.

"Fuck..." Wells grunts, holding up her gatling pistol.

"There will be no need for that." Says the reverend. The mud squishes as he walks, seeming to get closer. "Because I am surrendering to your custody. With the Princess of Worms dead...well, there is no point to continuing this, is there?"
