Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

((GM autopilot))

"Jackie!" Bullock shouts as he fires into the dark. "Deputy Wells, do you still have any of that goddamn dynamite?"

Something squeals as Bullock fires. One more down.

((OOC: With Bullock's player temporarily out of action, I'll take back the reigns of Bullock for a bit.

Bullock will again fire at one of the worms. He will Double Tap for +1 to attack and damage, to help mitigate some of the darkness penalties

11:06, Today: The Stray, on behalf of Seth Bullock, rolled 12,-2 using d10-3,d6-3, rerolling max with rolls of (10+5)15,1. Shooting! (Double Tap). Hit and Raise

Damage: 10 (Shaken and 1 wound, which will take out the thing).

Card: JH

Bullets left: 3/6))

OOC: Burning Using 4C - Hot Iron and Whiskey to put me at 2 wounds!
The gunslinger cried out in pain, gut ripping pain. The Indians had done a pretty good job of beating Wilder up but the Rattler had put them to shame. His eyes shifted about the darkened room trying to get any bits of light they could. He'd heard Jimmy drop like a stone, the gunslinger reached out to find his friend and hoped to get them both to safety.

OOC: So yeah going to grope around in the dark for Lonefeather and move out of the building if I find him and if that's even possible

11:23, Today: James Wilder drew the single card: QS using a deck of 54 cards. Initiative .

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

James attempts to run through the mess of rattlers, but there, in the dark, he's at a disadvantage, and the things grab at him as he tries to escape...

((OOC: Going Full Defense means you roll Fighting (+2) and use the result as your Parry. It also means you can't move. At all. I think you mean the Defend option (+2 to Parry, taking no other actions), which is the defense option that actually allows you to move your Pace.

This still provokes a mess of attacks from the nearest rattlers. The rattlers don't want to let you go, after all (you're a tasty snack). That's 3 attacks, but with the full Gang-up bonus of +4 vs. your current Parry of 7.

10:11, Today: Rattler Young'un rolled 7,7,6 using d6+4,d6+4,d6+4, rerolling max with rolls of 3,3,2. Fighting! (with Gang-Up). 2 hits.

Damage 1: 4 (no effect)
Damage 2: 13 (Shaken and 1 Wound)

Now's a good time to attempt to soak. If you pull it off, you'll be able to get to the stairwell.))

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

The worms slither in pace with James as he runs. Jimmy's body slows him down just long enough for the slithering horrors to grab hold of him, and James feels more pain shooting up him as they drag him back down into the dark...

Bullock feels tentacles whipping all around him...more of the monsters have surrounded him, and he feels his strength starting to give out...

Jackie feels the monster twisting savagely on her wounded arm, trying to draw her back down through McCall's corpse...

And Han Lee even takes a swipe from the worm's tentacles, a slimy grip that yanks him off-balance and almost sends him tumbling...

((OOC: So, it's now the Rattler's turn. There are 10 Rattlers left.

The rattlers that James escaped from follow him, while the others turn on Bullock. That mans that there's now 4 attacking Bullock, 3 attacking James, 2 attacking Jackie, and 1 attacking Han Lee.

Attacks vs. Bullock: (+3 gang-up, +1 special ability)

22:51, Today: Rattler Young'un rolled 14,8,7,5 using d6+4,d6+4,d6+4,d6+4, rerolling max with rolls of (6+4)10,4,3,1. Fighting! (with Gang-Up). 3 hits, 1 with a Raise

Damage 1: 8 (Shaken)
Damage 2: 6 (Shaken, causes a wound)
Damage 3: 4 (no effect)

Attacks vs. James: (+2 Gang-up, +1 Special Ability)

22:52, Today: Rattler Young'un rolled 7,5,8 using d6+3,d6+3,d6+3, rerolling max with rolls of 4,2,5. Fighting! (with Gang-Up). 2 hits, no Raises

Damage 1: 17 (Shaken, 2 wounds)
Damage 2: 14 (Shaken, 2 wounds)

Attacks vs. Jackie: (+1 Gang-up, +1 Special Ability)

22:52, Today: Rattler Young'un rolled 4,13 using d6+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 2,(6+5)11. Fighting! (with Gang-Up). 1 hit with Raise

Damage: 13 (Shaken, 1 wound)

Attack vs. Han Lee (no bonuses)

22:53, Today: Rattler Young'un rolled 15 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+6+3)15. Fighting! Hit with Raise

Damage: 7 (Shaken)

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

James tried his best but the critters were better. The gunslinger again fell to their onslaught. He let out a scream which was cut short as consciousness became to him.

OOC: Alright 5 whites and 1 blue vs 2 sets of 2wounds ... let's play!
First 2 wounds - 1 white chip to soak
09:08, Today: James Wilder rolled -1,3 using 1D8-2,1D6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 1,5. Soak (-2 WP).
Blue for +d6
09:09, Today: James Wilder rolled 1 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1. Blue Chip.
White to reroll all of that mess.
09:10, Today: James Wilder rolled 2,0,1 using 1D8-2,1d6-2,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4,2,1. Soak (-2 WP) Vigor, WD, Blue Chip.
... wow ... just ... wow ... so 2 whites and 1 blue spent to soak 1 wound.
James is now at 3 wound and shaken

White to soak the other 2
09:11, Today: James Wilder rolled 4,0 using 1D8-3,1d6-3, rerolling max with rolls of 7,3. Soak (-3 WP).
Not enough ... white chip to reroll
09:13, Today: James Wilder rolled 3,-1 using 1D8-3,1d6-3, rerolling max with rolls of 6,2. Soak (-3 WP) x2.
All that and I'm going incap anyways X_x

09:17, Today: James Wilder rolled 1,-2 using 1D8-3,1d6-3, rerolling max with rolls of 4,1. Vigor (-3 WP).
Last white chip to reroll
09:18, Today: James Wilder rolled 3,6 using 1D8-3,1d6-3, rerolling max with rolls of 6,(6+3)9. Vigor (-3 WP) white reroll.
Success ... I'll just reuse my injury table rolls from earlier
08:33, Today: James Wilder rolled 5 using 2d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,4. Injury Table.
08:33, Today: James Wilder rolled 1 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1. Injury Tablex2.
Broken: Agility reduced a die type(minimum d4)

So now James is at three wounds, incapacitated, battered (for 24hrs), broken (till healed) and out of chips

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Han watches his associates getting wounded and his frustration starts getting to him when a little rattler actually connects with him. His anger and shock caused him to miss his kick at the wurm, so he flicked his lemat to it's pistol mode and took a shot at the creature. He had to shed his attacker quickly so he could heal his friends.

Spending that white chip to remove my shaken status... I have a few to spare.

Kicking the crap out of my friendly rattler...
10:29, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 3,2 using 1d10,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,2. Kick atk.

Okayyyy.... so let me get this straight:
They have Bullock's wife. They have Bullock's friend. They've got, like 10 worms. We've got two men down. And it's dark. I guess I'll just shoot another worm, then.
Or...

"GODDAMN YOU, YOU COWARDS!"
Bullock screams, his anger winning the better of him.
"You call off these things RIGHT NOW or we will blow up this whole building RIGHT NOW!"

Worth a shot, eh? Intimidate!

"I do not think you understand our relationship to the worms, Mr. Bullock." Comes the calm, pleasant voice of the madman upstairs. "We serve them. I could not call them away even if I wished to. And if you blow up the building, well, you will lose everything. If you simply let the inevitable happen, however, the worms will be sated. We will not have to give Mr. Star or you family to them. Think it over."

((OOC: 09:44, Today: Reverend Alonzo Gusano rolled 13,4 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of (8+5)13,4. Resisting ToW. Gusano is not intimidated...but there isn't much he could do about the worms in any case. Like he says, he doesn't have any special control over them.))

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Before Bullock can reply to the madman, the building is rocked by a small tremor. The ground rumbles and Bullock almost falls into the stinking muck. The boards of the hardware store above creak alarmingly, and Bullock thinks he sees, just for an instant, the outline of the trap door above him. It's 12 feet from the floor to the trap door. Perhaps if he can get to it, he could force it open...

Something else happens. The slithering worms crawling around Bullock, James, and Lonefeather suddenly twist away and burrow down into the muck, fleeing away wherever it is they go when underground. Outside, Han Lee and Jackie Wells also feel the shift. The worm nearest Han Lee flees back underground.

The worms inside Jack McCall's body are another story.

The dead bushwhacker's corpse twists and spasms and the worms try to crawl back through it away from the surface. Then the body twitches more, flailing about, bucking and twisting and seizing...and then Jack McCall's corpse sits up, the worms trapped in his gory chest cavity waving around like terrible new arms. The corpse's head turns to Jackie Wells. McCall's eyes shine in the moonlight. He opens his mouth...and begins to scream.

((OOC: And your prize for playing the OOTFP card is...a brand new Undead Jack McCall!

Han Lee and Jackie Wells, I'ma need a Fear check from the both of you (-5 for the Fear Level, -2 for McCall's fear score, + grit). Once that's done, it'll be Han Lee's action.))

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

((OOC: It is, in fact, your turn. Wilder is down the stairwell, easily reachable. However, before you can heal any of Wilder's wounds, you need to remove in Incapacitated status. This is a Heal check (or Healing power use) that is separate from the roll to actually heal things. If you had any ranks in the actual heal skill, you could attempt a Heal check to remove the Incapacitation and then a power check to remove wounds in the same action with an MAP, but since your only source of healing is your ki, you'll have to take an action to remove the Incapacitation first.  You might want to consider healing Jackie up first, since then she can keep Undead Jack McCall off your backs while you deal with tending the Incapacitated.))

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Sound logic, but I do have the "mundane" heal skill, it is just a d4, as opposed to the sexy sexy d8 of my magic healing.  And I think I am going to try and save James, mainly because Han thinks there are still threats down in the basement and unlike James, Jackie is still moving about for now. Apologies ahead of time, Jackie.

"Ms Wells, I must tend to James..." Han says back pedaling to the stair well. "Hold on, sir." the young doctor says as he gets to work awakening and mending the man.

He starts by hitting certain pressure points with the tips of his finger... it's not working. "Come on..." Least not fast enough. He pulls out  some herbs from a pouch and waives them under James' nose. "Come on-" then with a grunt of frustration Han's palm slaps James' across the cheek. "WAKE UP!" he calls and is satisfied with the response he finally gets.

With a breath to calm himself he lays his hands on the man once more. Willing his spirit to mend, albeit it partially, the man's wounds.

21:23, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 0,2 using 1d4-2,1d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 2,4. Mundane Heal 4 incapacitation.

Which looks about right given the MAP penalty so I will spend a red.  1 draw for you Stray.

21:23, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 1 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1. red die, gotta try...

Sucks, gonna spend my 1 blue to further help..

21:27, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 5 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5. sigh... blue chip because ... sigh.

So the total for the mundane roll is 8

And now onto the magic healing:

21:27, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 2,1 using 1d8-2,1d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 4,3. Magical healing.

Won't stand for that... using 1
white chip

21:28, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 3,0 using 1d8-2,1d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 5,2. white chip, magic reroll

And then spend another red to supplement...

21:28, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 3 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3. *corrected* red to add to it roll.

So total of 6.

Finally initiative:

Jackie wished desperately she had a better weapon in hand, but this would have to do.  The Deputy was cussing a blue streak through all this as the shiny gun barked its reports and the casings just piled up as the shots riddled the chest of what used to be one Jack McCall.

"Get Some Ya Plug Ugly Sunuvabitch!"

Yay, no 1s!  Decent roll!  Should be TWO short range hits?  Or do I have to roll against his Parry?  I'm not sure how assholes and elbows we really are, I'm taking for granted McCall is still a very short distance from Jackie Wells.

21:21, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 5,13 using 2d6,2d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,3,2,(6+5)11. Two damage rolls.

That's 5 and 13 in case that's any hits.

James came to and felt horrible. It was as though his ribs and abdomen were on fire and freezing all at once. His eyes scanned the area trying to apprise the situation, his mind was still wrapping around the fact that he was awake at all. After the rattle had gotten a hold of him, he had been pretty sure he'd be worm food.

"Jimmy? Where are ya Jimmy?" his voice came out in a low muttered while his hands searched for his friend in the black. He hoped to find his friend a keep moving, what was going on still hasn't quite sunk in yet.
