((OOC: Not at that moment, but the alliance between the cultists and the party is only a matter of temporary circumstances anyhow. And I'm pretty sure Rong's babbling would get on Han Lee's nerves pretty quick.

Cultists, before I can continue on the round, I need your roll for the wormies still holding on to McCall. You need a Strength or Agility check that beats 11 to keep hold of him.))

[[Oops, sorry Stray.

20:16, Today: Worm Cultists rolled rolls of (6+5)11,1. Strong cultists? That's a tie with one of them, the other really does go flying.

The cultists are trying to free their wurm babies from that nasty deadder, with Rong hanging back to cover them in case someone dangerous pops up from the cellar. Rong's clearly the most dominant personality and giving orders, though, albeit in fluent Crazy, so the Doc would probably target him anyway.]]

So he's going to try and shake the cultist off.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Bullock's leap carries him up against the trap door, which bursts open. He's able to catch the lip of the door and haul himself halfway up.

The room looks like a stockroom, probably because that's what it is. There are boxes everywhere, most probably containing tools. Bullock can make out three standing figures in the lamplight, and one crouching figure. The crouching figure, sure enough, is Sol Star, who seems to be coughing. A burly cultist stands over him, foot raised for a kick to his midsection. Another cultist has her gun aimed at the trap door.

And the Reverend (there's no one else it could be) stands next to the trap door, smiling beatifically. He's a handsome, if creepy, latino male dressed like a baptist minister, though his skin is dyed purple and he clutches a copy of "The Raven and Other Poems by Edgar Allen Poe" instead of a bible.

"Ah. I wondered when you would try this." He says. "Did you think we would not be prepared? Kill him." this he says to someone just outside of Bullock's field of view...

((OOC: Make an Agility check to beat the cultists in a held Action contest.

21:08, Today: The Stray, on behalf of Worm Cultists, rolled 1,4 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,4. Opposed Agility.))

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Fan the hammer, of course.... at least I would if I had a single action. Okay, change of plan: Grab the Reverend and use him as a hostage/shield.

Bullock whirls around, grabs the "reverend's" arm with his left and twists it behind his back, then pushes his barrel under his hostage's chin.

"You all stand down now, or I'll paint the walls with his brains. Want to find out if it's pruple, too?"
he growls.

At least I hope I have him in a hold: Attack to grapple.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

"We are all food for worms, in the end." The reverend mutters. "I have no fear of the oblivion that awaits. Proceed." This last he says to the cultists gathered around, who raise their guns and begin firing.

The air fills with smoke from the crack of the rifles and a tremendous roar that leaves Bullock's ears ringing, but the only shot that gets near hitting him is the guy with the shotgun, who actually hits the Reverend instead. Bullock is actually feeling pretty god about himself and his choice of shields...

...until the big guy who had been kicking Star cracks his whip, and Bullock feels a deep, deep gash rip open in his side...

((OOC: 16:37, Today: Reverend Alonzo Gusano rolled 7,1 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 7,1. Opposed Grapple! Not quite enough.

But the Grapple will take your action, and you're dealing with fanatics.

The worm cultists take their action. You're using The Reverend as Cover, so they get a -2 penalty to their attacks and the Innocent Bystander rules apply. Except the one who is just going to tackle you after the others have taken their shots.

The cultists are armed with 2 El Cheapo Spencer Carbines, an El Cheapo shotgun, and all of them have whips, which the one who was kicking Sol is going to use now.

16:49, Today: Reverend Alonzo Gusano rolled 3,2,1 using d6-2,d6-2,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,4,1. Shooting!

...of course, the only one who hits is the one with the shotgun, and he hits the Reverend.

Damage: 7 (the Reverend is Shaken). Crap damage, but good for Gusano.

The cultist with the whip attempts to whip it good. Since the Reverend has the Fervor edge, the cultists around him get +1 to Fighting damage rolls.

16:52, Today: Reverend Alonzo Gusano rolled 7 using 1d8, rerolling max with rolls of 7. Fighting! Hit.

Damage: 10 (Bullock is Shaken and takes 1 wound. Bullock, if you wind up shaken after your soak roll, you'll also be forced to release the Grapple).

I'll deal with the Reverend's turn after Bullock attemtps to soak. Also, I need your next round's card.))

I drew the joker in msg #140... I assumed we're still in the pre-joker-round?

Soak:
09:44, Today: Seth Bullock rolled 26 using 1d35, rerolling max with rolls of 26. random chip. --> Red Chip.
09:44, Today: Seth Bullock rolled 3,4 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,4. Vigor to soak, 2nd white chip.
09:44, Today: Seth Bullock rolled 2,3 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,3. Vigor to soak.

Bullock grits his teeth as the whip cuts a gash through his skin.
"I guess it's feeding time, then." he growls.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Dr Han split his focus. Clearly during his travels he had not heard the "Enemy of my enemy is my friend" adage. He sends a kick at Rong while firing a shot off at the thing that was Jack McCall.

His shot is off but his kick makes contact with the mouthy pie throwing cultist.

I think I can target two different people with my two fisted attack... but let me know.

15:37, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 8,5 using 1d10,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 8,5. two fistin fightin'

15:37, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 3 using 2d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,1. two fistin shootin at 'jack'.

15:41, Today: Doctor Han Lee rolled 5,11 using 1d4,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of (4+1)5,(6+5)11. fighting damage. = 16 damage for Rong

[Language unknown: "Tr k...meho eeonarti? Eslepr utek indipeal?!"] the shorter cultist gasps, trying ineffectually to ward off the doctor. Han sends him flying neatly into the cellar doorpost with an audible *crack* of skull on wood. Rong Dun slumps over, dropping the loaded rife in the mud.

[[Gave him their other blue 'cause I'm fond of the aphasic maniac, but a 7 does not soak 3 wounds worth of bashage...two cultists left! Time to stop helping the PCs, I reckon...]]

The remaining dark purple cultist sits up from where the monster had thrown him and snatches up his rifle, seeing how swiftly Rong was put down. Fortunately for Han Lee, his aim is rubbish.

Re: Chapter 4.4: Cult of Worms (Deadwood)

Deputy Wells wasn't exactly sure why the cultists had jumped on what used to be Jack McCall, but she sure wasn't wasting it.

He seemed impervious to mere handguns. Time to change it up now that she wasn't assholes and elbows with that thing.

Standing there, when any sane person would be running, she reached back into the shotgun thong and withdrew that weird looking scattergun of hers.

She had to make this shot count, this thing didn't have the power reserves to do this again.

Being Stubborn and Overconfident... I got this. This is a "Here Hold my Beer" moment.

Drawing Crossbreed Raygun. Jackie... does not have the ever so handy Quick Draw Edge so that's going to be a MAP.

6 charges. Lethal. This could be spectacular (as in it could kill us all) or a huge letdown. I will blow every chip she has left on this if I have to, knock on wood.

23:27, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 5,9 using d10-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 7,(6+5)11. Please no 1s or 2s..

Oh sweet llamas from the Bahamas! That's manna from heaven, because that ought to be a raise. I forgot Jackie has 1 wound, but that's still an 8.

So, 6d6 damage, raise -

23:33, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 16,2 using 6d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,1,2,3,5,2,2. C'mon baby make it hurt so good.

18 damage.

Dang, I really needed to do better than that. Well, easy come easy go.

And in classic form, I forgot again.

23:36, Today: Jackie Wells drew the single card: 5D using the Deadlands system. classic form.
