Re: Chapter 5.1:  Deadwood Smoldering ((Deadwood PCs))

Janet, looking like she was running in a blind panic, shoved past Logan as she tried to run up the stairs.

21 for my strength check.  Spend a second Red Chip to do so.

20:32, Today: Secret Roll: Janet Weiss rolled 16 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+6+4)16. Red Chip.
20:32, Today: Secret Roll: Janet Weiss rolled 3,5 using d4,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,5. Strength check.

That's all I'm doing this turn.

20:34, Today: Janet Weiss drew the single card: 5C using a deck of 54 cards. Init.

OOC:

Strength: 8

Even rolling better than average, it could take me 3-4 chips to beat a 21, so I'm not even gonna try. I'll let Janet's luck stand there.

06:24, Today: Logan West rolled 8,4 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+2)8,4. Strength .

Am I knocked over from the attack, or pushed back a square?

Still screaming, the other maid follows right behind Janet, running for her life.

Out in the corridor, a quartet of soldiers appear at the end of the hallway, apparently drawn by the disturbance.

((OOC: Well, Janet? Is Logan down or is he just pushed back a bit? Either way, Becky is going to run behind you.

Your movement, slowed by the shove, will put you at the top of the stair and just out into the corridor beyond.

08:27, Today: The Stray, for the NPC Becky, rolled 2 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2. Running. That make's Becky's Pace 8. Slowed by the stair until she gets into the corridor, she continues moving. She winds up about three squares away from Janet.

All the commotion and gunfire has drawn the attention of a few more soldiers from other parts of the building.

As the woman pushed by him, nearly knocking him over, he let loose with both Gatling pistols sending a spray of hot lead in the air towards the first two undead creatures he could see before taking off after the woman.

"Hey, get back here! I need to talk to you!" he called out.

OOC:

Logan shoots, expending four bullets from each Gatling. Each gun hits once, for a total of two hits (both 5's as indicated below in the dice roller bits). He'll go for two separate targets.

His damage rolls are 26 and 6.

Gatling 1: 8/12 Bullets
Gatling 2: 8/12 Bullets

At the end, he will be moving up to his movement towards Janet.

15:27, Today: Logan West rolled -1,-1,5 using d8-2,d8-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 1,1,(6+1)7. Gatling Pistol 2.

Re: Chapter 5.1:  Deadwood Smoldering ((Deadwood PCs))

some mood music

Logan's shots perforate one of the dead soldiers, sending it vanishing into mist. But one of his guns begins squealing and hissing. It doesn't explode, but it looks out of alignment.
"You there! HALT!" One of the soldiers shouts, and they all start running down the corridor.
"I'll get her!" Jackie says, turning and charging up the stairs. She leaps, attempting to down the huckster with some sort of flying tackle.
The two dead soldiers watch the scene.

"Retreat." One of them says in an eerie monotone.

"Acquire the target later." Says the other, in a similar monotone.

The two dead soldiers then vanish in a puff of greasy black smoke.

((OOC: Logan, because your pistols are Infernal devices, they suffer a malfunction on a roll of 1 on the Skill die, regardless of the Wild Die (It's usually a good idea to spend a chip for a reroll on a die roll that gets a 1 when using Infernal Devices). Your left-hand gun has suffered a Malfunction. I roll to see how bad it gets:

quote:
Minor: A device is losing steam from a stuck valve, a vehicle is dragging a loose coupling, a potion has partially evaporated, etc. The item works as it should this time, but suffers a –2 to further use until a successful Repair roll is made as an action. Single-use items have their effect halved or negated (at the Marshal’s discretion).

There's a reason most people don't go around with double Gatling Pistols. On the other hand, you've triggered us a nice Joker's Wild.

The Soldiers attempt an Intimidation ToW against Janet and Becky.

10:40, Today: Union Troops rolled 4 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4. Intimidation ToW. Janet, I need you to make me a Spirit check to resist the Test of Wills.

Card: AS

Jackie Wells moves and attempts a grapple on Janet.

10:43, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 11,4 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of (10+1)11,4. Tackle! Janet, you need to roll Fighting to resist.

Card: 5S

The Black Regiment decides to cut their losses, and pulls a retreat. They vanish into thin air and are out of this fight.))

Janet, I need you to make me a Spirit Check (vs. 4) and a Fighting check (vs. 11). Von Steinhof, it's your turn

The man in black disintegrates into black mist, leaving only the two who had been slammed into the wall remaining.

Nat Love walks over to them, reloading his shotgun as he stepped toward them with grim purpose.

"Get the fuck out of my bar." He growls, sticking the barrel of the shotgun in the bandit's face.

{{BLAM! BLAM!}}

The remaining man in black cringes against the wall.

Maddox creeps into the room, keeping low and using the tables for cover. He looks around, puzzled.

"Where did they all go?"

((OOC: Nat Love reloads, walks over to the downed MiBs, and shoots them at point blank range. He has -2 for the MAP, +2 for the buckshot, -2 autofire penalty. He gets no Marksman bonus this time.

Re: Chapter 5.1:  Deadwood Smoldering ((Deadwood PCs))

some mood music

The shotglass falls from the air, and rolls along the floor.

The doors to the kitchen burst open, and in dances a dark-haired woman in a tattered white dress.

"Wanderers in that happy valley, Through two luminous windows, saw," she sings, skipping around an empty space. "Spirits moving musically, to a lute's well-tuned law!"

She leans over and blows a kiss to nothing at all.  She looks out over the room.

She nods absently as she looks around the bar. Her eyes lock on Zek. She grins. The light of madness shines in her eyes. "Cousin dear! You're having a party and you started without me! You even brought the lone feather with you! But I don't see the man in brown, the bald one, or the bloody coal train." she shakes her finger at him. "tsk, tsk. And I even brought some friends!"

She gestures, and suddenly a great wind whips through the bar. A dusty whirlwind with a monstrous demonic skull bursts into existence. "Carrion walker!" it shrieks, slamming into Zek with the force of a hurricane. "Murderer! You should have remained in your grave, for now I will feast on your tainted blood!"

Then it reverses course, and slams into Black Jack, the terrible wind threatening to smash him flat. "Dark creeper! Voodoo child! I smell the swamp on you! I will drink the swamp out of you, until you crumble away to dust!"

As the wind whips up to gale force, the beams of the Woolly Buffalo creak, barely abele to contain the force.

"Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks!" The crazed woman laughs, shouting to be heard over the wind. "Rage! Blow!"

((OOC: Nic Whateley spends his action monologing, though he drops the shot glass so Zek can't find him as easily, and he moves back toward the back room door. I played the Reinforcements card, so his reinforcements enter the scene at this point.

Card: 10C

The last Man in Black attempts to Unshake.

23:25, Today: Men In Black rolled 1 using 1d10, rerolling max with rolls of 1. Unshake. It does not.

Card: 4H

Dolores Whateley enters the battle, dancing around the bar to where her brother/husband is. She casts deflection Nicodemus (she has Detect Arcana up, so she can see him just fine, and she's already cast deflection on herself)

23:29, Today: Dolores Whateley rolled 2,1 using d12,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,1. Spellcasting. No. Spending a chip.

23:29, Today: Dolores Whateley rolled 3,14 using d12,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,(6+6+2)14. white chip. Success and Raise.

Attacks to hit Dolores are at -4. Attacks to hit Nicodemus are at -10 (if you can't see him) or -4 (if you can).

Oh, but wait! That's not all! Because Dolores brought along her pet Shiwana, which she unleashes on Zek and Black Jack. The Shiwana goes on her turn, creating a windstorm that catches Jack and Zek inside it!

23:38, Today: The Stray, for the NPC Shiwana, rolled 6 using 1d10, rerolling max with rolls of 6. Spirit.

23:38, Today: The Stray, for the NPC Shiwana, rolled 10 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+4)10. Red Chip.

That's a Success and raise. Total of 16

Zek and Black Jack are caught in the sort of gale that can flatten houses. In addition to the normal effects of the windstorm spell (you are automatically blinded (-4 to most actions) and must make a Vigor roll or be Shaken, and all ranged attacks that cross the twisters' area are at -2), you also need to make a Strength roll against the Shiwana's roll above to stay standing. Fail, and you are knocked Prone

Card: RJ!. Time for another Joker's Wild.))

Turn Order:
Dolores Whateley: RJ!

Nat Love: KH
Zek: 10S
Nicodemus Whateley: 10C
Bullock: 10C
Han Lee: 9D
