Re: Of Timelines and chickens

In reply to The Stray (msg # 815):

Zek does not trust anything about Custer,  and certainly does not trust himself not to kill Custer, which would certainly get a lot of PCS killed.

I somehow doubt the first instinct of soliders is to shoot because three people dissappear. No body is pointing any weapons at them.

Not to mention Zek thinks, rightly or wrongly,  that the government knows about Harrowed people and thinks they are better off with bullets in thier heads. If Zek is captured, they may have ways of finding out what he is.

In any case, I will just be doing a ready action for now. Maybe the law people can talk us outta here. I edited my post.

Re: Of Timelines and chickens

Zek needs a minder. He could try to kill Custer, but he probably wouldn't get very far, which'd likely restrain him in the circumstances (finding out he's Harrowed if he's full of holes and not if he's not, etc.), and it's unlikely Custer'd give personal interviews to non-lawmen anyway.

The soldiers would want the rest of the posse taken in for more urgent questioning, though, having been made to look really suspicious. Or just shoot in your general vanishing-wizard direction, potentially hitting folk behind.

Also: they let Janet go!

Re: Of Timelines and chickens

Don't forget these soldiers are on edge - they literally *just* fought a bone glom, during a fire and battled with several bloody undead (and I mean that literally) - and now there's been *another fire* and an explosion.

Re: Of Timelines and chickens

Save it for the meeting with Custer. He *loves* those sort of surprises.

Oh - and no reaction to my amazingly cool reaction to the explosion behind me? I guessing I stunned them into abashed amazedness?
Leopold does tend to have that effect.

Yeah, the Soldiers think Von Stienhof is fairly cool. He is still in their good books for the whole "shooting dead the 'glom" thing.

Ok, I am trying to save Jame's gun from detection. I figure not every solider is watching James and me, and with enough of a distaction-like me asking dumb questions, I might be able to pull it off.

Why, thank you kindly.

Am I right that we're all, more or less addressed by the same group of soldiers?

Re: Of Timelines and chickens

Not really. You were headed one way, James was headed another way, Belle was by the back door, and the rest of the group was being confronted by the band heading to the front. There's about 20 soldiers, all told, split into 4 groups of 5.

Leopold will of course be happy to accompany the soldiers to the good Governor Custer. I assume they're not going to want his guns, too?

If Rabbit ever encounters Belle (probably on the wrong side of the Spike Launcher, alas) she's just going to be all "...English? No? Cantonese?"

Re: Of Timelines and chickens

Nah, the worst Rabbit would get from Belle would be an elaborate "You poor dear" routine peppered with rants of indignation and a convoluted offer of transportation.

If she could be understood at all.  Of course Belle's non English tends to be far more succinct so perhaps there is cause for optimism.
