Well, I am working on some longer adventures for them, so dripping some Storm stuff isn't out of the question. But I'm juggling a bunch of ideas right now and trying to get one into shape first before I tackle a whole setting. If I were to do Blackthorn, it probably would be an open-ended adventure like Coffin Rock.

Yeah, I did think that the difficulty of policing self-uploaded portraits with a volunteer force would be the reason. A rule that brown-haired white man pics should go to the back of the queue in favour of...anything else might be useful in addressing the lack of variety in portraits.

I don't fathom the logic of that response personally.

Without disabling images altogether, you will never have.... you know what never mind I'll take it there.

I assumed so as well, but I also assumed that in the process of typing it out, they would see the epic logic fail inherent in that reasoning. So I was right on the first assumption, wrong on the second.

How the existing ability to post unverified images of nearly any size and dimension in every single post in my game is somehow within their sphere of control, but the ability to link to an image that fits within 100 x 100 pixels is way out of line...not sure I get that.

Relatedly, chlorine gas would react with iron pretty heavily in any sort of wet condition, or if the iron is heated, and so might be pretty effective if the ghost steel used in automatons isn't rust-proof.

It's down to group dynamics - users are far more likely to report someone spamming porn or whatever if it's obvious that-one-guy flouting of the rules, than they're likely to report their entire game if one person started off with generic bikini armour and it became a gag to escalate...and then a nun passing the computer of one of these guys sees it, catches fire, and portraits being very much part of the RPoL interface rather than obvious user content, RPoL gets sued for nun combustion and dies. Then no-one can play, and everyone is sad.

That's possibly one of the reasons it was developed in-universe. I don't know, all I know is what it did to the Battle of 6th Manassas, as detailed in Tales o' Terror: 1877.

I always regard "ghost steel" as Unobtainium with no consistent chemical properties beyond whatever it needs to be to justify the setting. =D

A player once expressed desire to me to be a Mad Scientist, but lamented he knew very little of actual hard science.  I told him he was in fact all the more qualified to play a Mad Scientist.

I used to be one of them, but I've sold off quite a few books over the years.

Funny thing is: I set up a blog where I posted all my RPG books I intended to sell (isellmyrpgbooks.wordpress.com), made a few sales early on, then interest died down. But about once a year, somebody stumbles across is and I sell a few more books. :-)

I've tried to sell my old SW RCR books, but twice someone has agreed to meet up and buy them, and then stood me up. Bleh.

How much does Belle perceive of all this kerfuffle?  I know she's off separate from everyone else because she was detained on the other side of the building (she DID tell everyone to clear out before she threw explosives on the fire), but it's hard to gauge as a player what the proximity is and what would be perceived.

Most of my old Vampire, 2e, DL Classic, etc. books were stolen a long time ago, so I don't have very many of them left.

I do buy some physical books here and there, but I try to not buy too many.  I have to move too much.  Rent increases more than my pay increases so that's just kind of my reality for the past 10+ years and onward into the future :p
