Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Wild Bill coolly scanned the chaos of the room. Several of the other patrons has joined the very drunk miner yanking at the boards on the window. That do-gooder fella was on the floor, dodging strikes from a flying chair. his companion was cowering behind the bar. It sounded like someone had gotten their ticket punched heading toward the back door.

The best way to really soak this situation for all it was worth? Destroy hope. He could deal with the German dandy later.

Instead, he pointed his guns at the miners trying to escape. "Hey now, don't y'all try to run away at once!" He roared. "It's like shooting fish in a barrel!"

{{BANG! BANG!}}

Two of the miners dropped, at least one of them missing the top of his head.

"I hope none of y'all are entertaining the idea you're gonna leave this place alive!" He crowed. "You ain't! I aim to kill every single son of a bitch breathing here!"

((OOC: And for the other townsfolk in the bar:

6 assorted patrons: 09:30, Today: The Stray, on behalf of Townsfolk, rolled 5,5,5,4,4,5 using d6,d6,d6,d6,d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,5,5,4,4,5.  Recover from Shaken.

Bartender: 09:31, Today: The Stray, on behalf of Townsfolk, rolled 1 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1.  Recover from Shaken.

So all the patrons Unshake, but most of them are still concerned with hiding or trying to get out, and don't affect the ongoing battle overly much.

Wild Bill is up next.

Wild Bill (or rather, Rabid Bill, since his manitou is in the driver's seat) wants to cause as much pain and suffering as he can manage. So he starts shooting at the miners clawing at the boarded-up windows.

He's an Expert shot (d12+2) and has Marksman and Pistolero (allowing him to get the Marksman bonus on two separate targets). This allows him to make Called Shots to the head with ease. He'll get +4 damage if he hits.

13:24, Today: Wild Bill Hickok rolled 7,7 using d12,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 7,(6+1)7.  Shooting (Called Shot).
13:24, Today: Wild Bill Hickok rolled 11,3 using d12,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 11,3.  Shooting (Called Shot).

That's 2 Hits, one with a Raise.

Hit vs. Very Drunk Miner: 11. That's a Wound, fatal if not soaked.
Hit vs. Patron: 17. That's 3 wounds. The extra is not going to soak that.

Card for next turn: KC))

Maddox follows James around the corner. "This is a sodding pig's ear, it is." He mutters, idly twirling his pistol as he moves. "Was that a bloody cannon I heard by yir?" He looks at Brett Bones gasping on the wall, then at James. "'Oo's he, then? One of Carter's crew?"

((OOC: Maddox spends his action activating his deflection power and moving closer to James.

10:05, Today: Maddox rolled 3,2 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,2.  Spellcasting. Gar. He spends a chip on that.

10:06, Today: Maddox rolled 3,4 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,4.  white chip. That's good for a -2 penalty on incoming attacks against him.

Also, talking is a Free Action.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Burns took some deep beaths. This was not...this was not ideal. He didn't have any of his devices on him except the Phlogiston Injector and his hidden Ghost Steel vest. The whole place seemed to have it in for him...well, he'd have the last laugh. Cynthia was upstairs in their room, probably getting their back-up Protection Suit ready. And he also had a few tricks up his sleeve...he'd get out of here with a bang!

True, the blast would likely kill everyone else inside, but he really didn't care about that. The price of progress was sometimes paid in blood. Who knows? perhaps he could get a head start on collecting the crucial ingredient for his Extractor.

These thoughts warmed him as he bounded up the stairs, past the frightened hardcases.

Hearing the screams, the shooting, and the unearthly sounds within-Zek decided cation was the better part of Valor. He would try and jump one of the foes within from under their feet...if they had feet that is. He flows into the ground and vanishes.

((OOC: So it's Hyram Burns, the Zeke (who already took their turn), then Mr. Sebastian.

Hyram attempts to recover from being terrified.

09:17, Today: Hyram Burns rolled 4,1 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4,1.  Spirit (Recover from Shaken).

He succeeds. He's still quite terrified, though. So mostly he's going to try to make it to the room he rented here, which is upstairs. He's doing this because he has some dynamite stashed there.

The stairs are difficult terrain when you're going up them, so this slows him down some. Also he needs to stand up, so that eats into his movement. He Runs for more distance. He only gets a 1 on the Run die, though. It only gets him into the upstairs hall.

Burns Card: 6H

Zeke's turn goes in here:

Ezekiel Starkweather:
(OOC-Using burrowing and heading inside. Going to use stealth with the burrowing bonus to try to get the drop on a foe within movement range for next round.

22:07, Today: Ezekiel Starkweather rolled 17 using 1d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of (6+6+3)15.  Red chip.
22:05, Today: Ezekiel Starkweather rolled 4,3 using 1d6,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4,3.  Stealth roll-not sure what burrowing bonus is.
22:01, Today: Ezekiel Starkweather drew the single card: 10S using a deck of 54 cards.

Total stealth roll=19.)

Zeke can move 12 squares with his Burrowing power, so he can get pretty much wherever he wants to...provided he knows where he's going. Zeke, I want you to make me a Notice roll (-2) to figure out where the "foes" would be. Burrowing doesn't grant any bonuses on Stealth, but since you have a 19 and pretty much no one is going to expect you popping out of the floorboards, it's likely a moot point anyway.))

Zeke, resolve your Notice roll, then it's Mr. Sebastian's turn.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

"I do believe the time for subtly has passed." Mr. Sebastian says. He watches Hyram Burns heading up the stair. "Shadow! Sic him!"

The enrmous black hound bounds to its feet, howling and baying as it runs across the room, leaping over poker tables and roulette wheels as it heads for the stair.

Mr. Sebastian nods, then rushes over by Von Steinhof's side.

"Whatever your reason for seeking me out, sir, it would appear we have common enemies." he says as he holds out a hand to help Von Steinhof stand. "I can try to keep the mist contained and distract the gunmen, but I am no fighter. Hyram Burns is the anchor of the mist. If he dies, it will dissipate, never to return. If you can stop him, do so. I can get us out of here should it be necessary." He looks over at the hole and the wall and grimaces. "And keep that blasted Wells woman from gunning me down, would you kindly?"

With his other hand he makes an arcane gesture with his cane, and suddenly his shadow lengthens, growing impossibly long and wide against the light. Where it falls, whether on mist, man, or furniture, the color leeches away.

The blood-red mist convulses as the shadow sweeps over it, shrinking and contracting in what looks like pain. There's a chorus of shrieks from it, which do nothing to help the chaos in the room already.

Wild Bill also seems solidly struck by the shadow's passage, staggering as if punched while his arm turns ashen grey and his coat sleeve fades.

Carter, at the tail end of the shadow, doesn't even seem to have felt it, though he blinks rapidly as if his vision had gone slightly blurry all of a sudden.

((OOC: Roger has both himself and his Hound this turn.

He knows that Burns is the source of the Mourning Mist all around, but right now he's the only one who has the ability to do anything about it. And he can catch the mist, Darius Carter, and Wild Bill in a burst if he moves.

He sends his hound bounding after Hyram Burns, then moves near Von Steinhof to fire his Burst. His Hound only gets to the stairs (and only gets a 1 on the  run die, so it doesn't go very far up them).

20:50, Today: Mr. Roger Sebastian Whateley rolled 7,1 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 7,1.  Spellcasting. That's decent, but this is an Opposed roll against people that have a high Agility, so he spends his Red Chip to add more on to that.

20:50, Today: Mr. Roger Sebastian Whateley rolled 11 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+5)11.  red chip.

Total of 18.

20:53, Today: Mourning Mist rolled 5,1 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,1.  Agility.
20:53, Today: Wild Bill Hickok rolled 1,5 using d12,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,5.  Agility.
20:52, Today: Darius Carter rolled 4,2 using d12,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4,2.  Agility.

not a single one of his targets gets anywhere near that, and he gets a Raise on all of them.

Damage Carter: 7. He's not even bothered.
Damage Wild Bill: 18. That will make him Shaken (and do nothing else, since this doesn't get around his Invulnerability)
Damage Mist: 13. This will cause a Wound to the Mourning Mist, which it will attempt to soak. It spends a White Chip.

20:58, Today: Mourning Mist rolled 11,7 using d12+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 9,5.  Soak.

Yup, that soaks.

But as a consolation prize, all three suffer a -1 penalty on vision-based trait rolls on their next action, thanks to Sebastian's trappings.

This is pretty much par for the course. Mr. Sebastian is a good spellcaster, but combat magic is not his forte.

19:54, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 3,4 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,4.  Spirit!

Jackie felt awful momentarily, but then began to shake it off.

"That one's the Marshal!"  She finally answered, now that she had her wits about her.  But she also had words for Darius Carter as she sliced the pie of the door frame to fire back at him.

"How about instead you shove that thing up your ass and pull the trigger!?  Eat this!"

There were actually other, bigger problems here, but... fuck him.

So I believe her Edges cancel the penalties here.

19:59, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 17,1,9,10 using d10,d10,d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of (10+7)17,1,9,(6+4)10.  Shooting!

A great roll that could have ended this, and I have to surrender it because I rolled a 1 :p

20:03, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 5,4,5,5 using d10,d10,d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,4,5,5.  White Chip.

Yep, and now nothing I roll is going to matter unless I get lucky.

20:05, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 8,6,9 using 2d6,2d6,2d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,3,2,4,4,5.  Damage Rolls.

8, 6 and 9 damage.  None of which does anything to him.

20:05, Today: Jackie Wells drew the single card: 7D using a deck of 54 cards.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Jackie's caseless bullets do a nice job of shredding Carter's shirt...revealing something hideous beneath!

Darius Carter isn't completely human. Not anymore. There are metal scales growing out of his skin, covering his chest and arms!

"HA!" Carter barks. "I like your sand, girl! But your whirly little popgun ain't doin' shit to me!"

He's grinning, but Jackie noticed that he did, in fact, stagger a bit, and there's some dents in the armor from where she hit him...he's tough, but not invulnerable. And it doesn't look like the hideous growth covers his head none.

James Lonefeather tried to follow Zeke, but the door wouldn't open. Typical. "Wilder!" he shouts. "I can't get in! I'm going to have to go call for the Cavalry!"

Then he rushes on down the street, shouting for help.

((OOC: Carter still has to make a Vigor roll or suffer from Fatigue, thanks to part of Jackie's trappings.

20:50, Today: Darius Carter rolled 2,10 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,(6+4)10.  Vigor.

Also, her power has AP 2, so despite his bravado here he's actually Shaken by that 9 damage roll.

Meanwhile, James Lonefeather is going to use his held action to try the door (he can't open it), then head to try and scare up army reinforcements. He's going to be gone a few rounds trying to get army attention.

With that, it's the end of this long and complicated round, and the start of another long and complicated round!))

Round TL;DR
Nicodemus teleports to the balcony after doing something sneaky.
Tolliver tries to intimidate Carter, but fails. His hardcases are currently running around panicking.
Von Steinhof provoked The Bella Union into revealing itself, earning him a chair spanking. Mr. Sebastian is offering him a truce for the moment.
The Mourning Mist appeared, spooked Katy and Jackie, then entered the Saloon where it is sure to cause much trouble.
Katy finished prying the wood off of the window, opening a path to the outside...and suddenly coming face-to-face with Darius Carter, who blew a hole in the side of the wall to destroy Katy's cover! (inadvertently pissing off the Saloon).
Brett Bones tried to make a run for it but was gunned down by James Wilder. He's barely clinging to life thanks to a lucky Incapacitation roll. Maddox is asking James what's going on.
The Townsfolk are running around in general panic. Wild Bill gunned two of them down as they tried to pull at the window (one still needs to soak).
Logan West is aiming at Carter, while Zeke Starkweather is tunneling in from below.
Hyram Burns is running upstairs, heading for his hidden dynamite stash. Mr. Sebastian's Shadow is in pursuit.
Mr. Sebastian himself is next to Von Steinhoff, offering a truce while trying to hinder the three major baddies nearby.
Jackie Wells got spooked by the mist, recovered, and unloaded some shots on Darius Carter...to reveal the man has some serious armor plating underneath his shirt!
James Lonefeather is running for reinforcements.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Katy pursed her lips as she considered the hole in the wall in front of her. "Don't know what I done ta deserve that." She looked over at Jackie as she fired a shot at the outlaw and decided to follow suit. "Yer wanted dead or alive, Darius Carter. If ya force me ta make it the former, I'll do that."

Katy took aim at Carter's apparently unarmored head, and the pistol suddenly started to glow with a pale, white light. Arcs of electricity danced from the hammer down to the grip, and a close observer might also notice a little bit of it arcing across her eyes as well. The muzzle flash was an odd shade of whitish green, and the shot flew true enough. There were too many bystanders around here for her to empty her entire cylinder, unfortunately. Some other time perhaps.

OOC: Katy activates Raise Shooting as a free action, and gets a raise (d12 shooting now). She also activates Smite as a free action, with a standard success (+2 damage and bullets are magical, I suppose)

She takes a called shot to the head and gets a 6 to hit (after modifiers for joker and called shot to the head, but not including his deflection, so I believe that's the number Katy needs to hit - if it's not, she'll add chip(s) to ensure she connects)

Shot she fired is Loaded For Bear which does an extra d6 damage. Total damage is 3d6+1 for the normal bullet, +4 for head shot, +2 for smite. ALthough it only ends up at 16 damage to the head. It is AP 1 if that matters, but hopefully the armor was simply avoided and he takes 2 wounds.

08:46, Today: Catherine Hays Cox rolled 16 using 3d6+7, rerolling max with rolls of 4,2,3.  Damage (loaded for bear).
08:35, Today: Catherine Hays Cox rolled 6,0 using d12-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 8,2.  Shooting (called shot-head).
08:29, Today: Catherine Hays Cox rolled 7,4 using d8+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 5,2.  Smite.
08:28, Today: Catherine Hays Cox rolled 8,3 using d8+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 6,1.  Boost Shooting.

"Yer outgunned, surrounded, and got no way outta there that ain't covered. Toss that gun out inta the street and step out with yer hands held high." Katy then ducked back around the corner to get back behind the saloon wall for cover. She was under no delusion that he would actually comply and didn't fancy having any of her parts available for Carter to shoot at.

OOC: Katy moves a couple squares to her left (as she faces the saloon). In an attempt to be at least slightly unpredictable

Edit: Forgot my initiative card.

20:50, Today: Catherine Hays Cox drew the single card: 9S using a deck of 54 cards.  Initiative..

Darius yelps and ducks as Katy shoots. The movement means that instead of turning his head into a canoue, he takes it in the ear instead. Blood spatters, but it doesn't seem to be a serious wound.

"So we done playin', then?" He growls, holding on hand up to staunch his wounded ear. "Fine. Exits covered? Won't be for long once I walk out past yer cooling corpses. You want me, you're gonna have to take me down, 'cause you ain't takin' me alive." He brandishes his fancy pistol. "And you ain't seen all the tricks I can do with this here pistol yet."

((OOC: Yup, that's a hit and 2 wounds, so Darius attempts to soak, spending one of his personal chips (he has Luck, so he has 3 instead of the normal 2)

09:05, Today: Darius Carter rolled 9,1 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 9,1.  Soak. Success and Raise, which soaks both wounds.))

Up on the balcony, the leaner prostitute pries her sobbing companion a little away from her and shakes her a bit, keeping her voice low. "Flossie! You got to git a grip, thet's the Wild Bill Killer down there!" Flossie just stares at her in helpless terror, tears carving lines through her face-powder.

"Dangit..." Lilly-Ann curses. "All right, we got us some cover here - next break in th' shootin, we crawl like hell for the open door back there, 'k? In the room, out the window. We're gonna git out of this, hon, y'hear?"

The miner shot in the head goes down with a brief sprinkler effect, causing the one on the floor to attempt to...swim...away from the carnage. The breaststroke would probably do better in water.

The one by the bar drops his glass and numbly reaches for the bottle, his eyes wide and staring through the current madness, breathing the cordite stink of another battle far away in his head. He drains the last dregs of whiskey and slams the bottle against the bar without even looking, in his mind fixing a bayonet, again, and the stench of the dead blotting out his thoughts, again.

Ain't running this time, he thinks, and charges in with his makeshift blade.

Wild Bill shakes the grey out of his clothes, and looks nonplussed at the sudden attack of a knife-wielding drunkard. He easily blocks the clumsy strike, then shoves his gun in the miner's face and fires at point-blank range.

Then he looks around the room, and spots Logan drawing a bead on Carter. "Now, that's neighborly of you." he says, aiming his other pistol at Logan. "This fella's gonna help me raise all kinds o' Hell, and you aim to shoot him in the back? I don't think so, pardner."

{{BANG!}}

And Logan feels a heavy impact...

((OOC: Wild Bill attempts to Unshake. He's Harrowed, so he gets a +2 bonus to this.

17:29, Today: Wild Bill Hickok rolled 9,7 using d8+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 7,5.  Recover from Shaken.

Yup, that'll do it, and he gets his full action, too.

Mr. Sebastian has annoyed him, but right now he sees Logan attempting to bushwhack Carter and feels obliged to help protect the guy he thinks can blaze a trail of terror through Deadwood with him.

He takes one shot at the drunkard attacking him, and one shot at Logan (who is behind medium cover, -2 to ranged attacks against him). He has Pistolero, which allows him to use Marksman against two separate targets. He has to hit the drunk's Parry (but it's a 4, so he's not sweating it).

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Logan goes down with the impact as if he had taken it on full, taking the opportunity to hide behind the bar while he did so. It was a move he'd used in gunfights before. Sometimes a skilled killer was so confident in his abilities that he wouldn't imagine that he'd missed, or that the other fella had lightning reflexes. Logan was counting on that from Wild Bill. He didn't know the man's weaknesses in life, but he was guessing that whatever was playin' around in his head was juiced up on power and death and might be fooled by such a ploy.

OOC:

Soak: 8

I spent a White Chip to Soak for an 8. That's a success and a raise, which should soak both wounds and remove the Shaken condition. Still, if possible I'm going to have Logan take a dive as he gets shot, hoping that he can play dead for a minute, voluntarily sacrificing his aim bonus.

20:46, Today: Logan West rolled 7,8 using 1d6,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+1)7,(6+2)8.  Recover from Shaken (White Chip).

21:37, Today: Logan West rolled 7,3 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 7,3.  Smarts Trick.

Initiative for next round: 9D

22:40, Today: Logan West drew the single card: 9D using the Deadlands system.

Rabid Bill grinned as Logan slumped out of sight. One hero down, he thought, then looked over at Von Steinhof and Mr. Sebastian, then out at Katy and Jackie Wells. Four more to go.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Mr. Roger Sebastian Whateley:

Von Steinhof accepts the hand as he's pulled from the chair. Or, rather, what is left of it.
"What a sobering experience!" He exclaims, his words still somewhat slurry.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

James looked down at the bleeding man at his feet as he emptied the spent half-dozen shells from his pistol onto Brett. He turned his attention to Maddox, "Maddox meet Brett Bones wanted all over for various crimes. Do me a favor and take this sack of shit outside would ya? Got a guy in the other room who I need to introduce to a belly full of lead." Without waiting for Maddox to response, James headed into the main room reloading as he went.

The gunslinger surveyed the chaos with a calmness that comes from years of being in similar situations. He spied someone he recognized, "Leopold? What brings my favorite Prussian to the Bella Union Saloon? Can't be this fine atmosphere."

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

There's a deep groaning of wood, like the Bella Union is settling, but it still seems distracted by the hole Carter blew in the wall, and doesn't send any furniture flying anywhere.

Zeke finds a decent spot to pop out of the ground as he hones in on Rabid Bill's voice...

((OOC: The Bella Union attempts to unshake from the damage Carter caused it.

23:43, Today: Bella Union Saloon rolled 1,2 using d12,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,2.  Recover from Shaken.

Nope. I suppose I could chip that, but I'll let it stand for now.

Instead, I'll move on to Zeke's turn, and see how he deals with Bill.

Bella Union card: 9C))

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Zek comes bursting out of the ground, a bottle held in one hand. He proceeds to try and grab Bill, and pin him against a solid object while forcing the bottle's contents down the other dead man's lips. "You don't deserve this, Rabid Bill!" He snarls with rage, but proceeds to keep feeding the man the liquid within the bottle.

OOC:
09:41, Today: Ezekiel Starkweather drew the single card: RJ! using a deck of 54 cards.  Initiative.
09:40, Today: Ezekiel Starkweather rolled 12,9 using 1d8+6,1d6+6, rerolling max with rolls of 6,3.  white chip re-roll.
09:40, Today: Ezekiel Starkweather rolled 8,9 using 1d8+6,1d6+6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,3.  Grapple with wild and burrow surprise bonus.

Edit-I am spending a blue chip for Wild Bill if he needs a re-roll for dominion, as per the artifact I am using.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Zeke springs out from under the floorboards and grabs at Bill, trying to pin him against the bar and force the liquid down his gullet. But while Wild Bill is surprised, he also has the quick reflexes expected of one of the world's best gunfighters. He drops one of his guns and grabs Zeke by the hair, shoving him backward and breaking the mountain man's hold. The vial's contents didn't even get past his lips.

"Think you're pretty clever, huh?" The possessed gunman growls, looking at the gun he had to toss. "Reckon I can get to it and fill you full o' holes before you can blink." He looks at Zeke. "So you gotta ask yourself, 'do I feel lucky?' Well? Do you, you son of a bitch?"

((OOC: A couple things:

1) using the Elixer is an Action, so doing it and grappling is a Multiaction and thus suffers an MAP of -2 (this was why Coot had others do the grabbing when he dosed Lonefeather).

2) Grappling is an Opposed roll. A high roll is not a guarantee of success. You gotta win the grapple before you can do the pouring.

So Wild Bill has to beat a 10 (not 12) on the grapple. If he gets a Raise over you, you might drop the bottle (it will require an Agility roll to keep hold of it). However, he has a -1 to Fighting thanks to only having Improvised Weapons (his pistols) available to him.

12:38, Today: Wild Bill Hickok rolled 11,0 using d8-1,d6-1, rerolling max with rolls of (8+4)12,1.  Fighting (Resisting Grapple). Success. But no Raise, so you can try again next round. Also, in order to have one hand free he drops one of his pistols, which means he'll need to spend some movement picking it up (and won't get his Marksman bonus because of that).))

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Carter spins his fancy gun around, and seems to be moving at a blur as he raises his pistol and points...not directly at Jackie or Katy, but at the space between them.

"Know why the guy I killed for this gun from was called Tornado Tom?" He asks, then squeezes the trigger.

{{{WHOOOOOOSHBOOM!!!!}}

The bullet actually explodes in the empty space between the two women, unleashing a terrible wind as a miniature twister forms...with them right at it's edge! The vortex howls and they feel the pressure sweeping them up...

((OOC: Carter is Shaken, so he attempts to Unshake. He has a -1 penalty on sight-based actions thanks to Mr. Sebastian's spell.

13:00, Today: Darius Carter rolled 5,4 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,4.  Recover from Shaken.

Success, but no raise. He has a -2 MAP on actions this round.

He attempts to cast quickness to give him another edge.

13:05, Today: Darius Carter rolled 7,-1 using d10-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 9,1.  Hexslinging. Success, so he gets another action.

He uses his second action to cast havoc, targeting the MBT on Jackie and Katy.

13:07, Today: Darius Carter rolled -1,3 using d10-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 1,5.  Hexslinging. No, I don't think I'll be Backlashing today. Carter spends a GM White Chip for a reroll.

13:07, Today: Darius Carter rolled 7,7 using d10-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 9,(6+3)9.  white chip. There we are. It's not a raise, but should do.

Katy and Jackie, I need you both to make Strength checks or get tossed 2d6 (-2, as you both have cover) squares in a random direction.

Carter's card: 7C))

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

"I dunno, why?"

OOC: Katy uses her 'malfunction' adventure card on the weapon Darius Carter is intent on using.

3D - Mechanical Malfunction
“SPROING!”
Play anytime. A device malfunctions in some way: guns jam, bow strings break, etc. The device can be fixed by a Repair roll at -4 and 10 minutes work. Alternatively, an Infernal Device suffers a catastrophic malfunction.

(Assuming that works) Katy twirled her own gun, and the same electricity that had covered the grip, her shootin' hand, and danced across her eyes jumped through the space between her and Darius, the blue-white sparks infusing themselves into Darius' weapon.

And then raspberry jam flows from the barrel.
