Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Jackie gritted her teeth.  Luck was certainly a factor in a gun fight, but it wasn't the only factor and Darius Carter was going to learn that too.  She might be from Fort Worth, but Wells knew the value of Kentucky Windage and moved her sights just a little before firing again.

Marksman and Joker cancel headshot penalty.

19:13, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 2,1 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,1.  Teh Shoot, Called Shot but with Joker.

Wow that's just awful.

19:14, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 2 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2.  imma blue that.

Okay it hits with a 4... but I want that raise so let's white chip, he needs to hurt...

19:14, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 3,4,1 using d10,d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,4,1.  imma reroll it all.

Wow a 5, be still my beating heart.  That is some crap luck, average result on a d10 trait with a d6 kicker should be a Raise.  Oh well the dice roller giveth and the dice roller taketh.

19:16, Today: Jackie Wells rolled 13 using 2d6+6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,5.  Damage.

Not even a good damage roll, but I was figuring it would be an 8 or 9 so I'll take it.

Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb.

19:17, Today: Jackie Wells drew the single card: JS using a deck of 54 cards.

Well that was nice at least.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

It's harder to shoot people in the head than the dime novels make it out to be, and Carter again escapes a serious injury from Jackie's gatling pistol.

He grins. "Guess my head's just to hard fer your fancy-ass gatling pistol, girlie. Or else you're just a terrible shot."

Upstairs, Cynthia Burns, AKA Penelope Smythee, activates the device on her suit. The bulky artifact bursts into jolly orange flames, bathing everything around her in flames.

"You worthless scum!" she shouts at the hardcases around her firing down into the room below. "You waste ammo down there, when right beside you is a gentleman fighting for his very life against a rabid hound? Let me show you how it's done!"

And then she charges, flailing away with the fiery suit and sending the hound scurrying away from the fire with a yelp.

"Burn, mutt!" She starts cackling wildly. "You will burn in the very fires of Satan's Garden!"

((OOC: On the plus side, this is nickle and dimeing Carter's Chips, meaning that when Katy and James go, they're a lot more likely to get more licks in.

Carter attempts to soak the wound inflicted by Jackie's shot, using his very last chip (and now has to rely on GM chips).

17:26, Today: Darius Carter rolled 2,4 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,4.  Soak.

On to Cynthia Burns!

Cynthia Burns wants to activate her Damage Field suit and attack. This is a multiaction, so she has a -2 penalty to her rolls.

17:32, Today: Cynthia Burns rolled 7,2 using d10-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 9,4.  Weird Science.

She makes a Touch Attack and a Wild Attack to mitigate the penalties to her roll. She gets a net +2 bonus on her attack thanks to that, but won't get her strength on the damage roll. Since the hound Wild Attacked, its parry is at 4 instead of 6.

17:37, Today: Cynthia Burns rolled 6,3 using d6+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 4,1.  Fighting (Wild Attack, Touch Attack). She wants a Raise, so she spends her lone red chip on that.

17:37, Today: Cynthia Burns rolled 10 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of (6+4)10.  red chip. Yup, that's a Raise alright.

17:38, Today: Cynthia Burns rolled 13 using 3d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 1,5,5.  Damage (with Raise).

The hound has a special ability -- it takes half damage from normal weapons. This, however, is a Weird Science gizmo, not a normal weapon. So that'll cause it a Wound unless it soaks. It's an Extra, so that would Incapacitate it.

17:43, Today: Mr. Sebastian's Shadow rolled 14 using 1d10, rerolling max with rolls of (10+4)14.  Soak.

Soak it does. But now it has two problems. Hyram Burns and Cynthia Burn can tag-team it, and if it attack Cynthia it'll take damage.

I also check to see if the suit causes any fires. It does not.

Cynthia's next card: KS))

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Nicodemus frowned at Tzipporah, but she was a grwon woman, he supposed. Still, it vexed him that she would disobey like that. Ah well.

He'd been putting this off too long. Time to give them all a show.

He pulled open the door nearest him and stepped on to the balcony. He looked out over the chaos down below. There was that damnable mountain man, but there was a gun to his head, so that was fine. But he saw the man who'd shot him striding through the hall...heading, it seemed, for Darius Carter, who was causing a fine mess here.

Time for some revenge.

"Hello, Mr. Gunfighter!" he shouted at James Wilder. "It seems like your ambush failed. Allow me to demonstrate how it's properly done!"

With a flourish he brandished three ghostly, glowing cards. Then he hurled three nearly invisible streams of ghostly white energy at the gunslinger.

{{thwoom! thwoom! thwoom!}}

They strike with devastating force, kicking Wilder around as they hit.

((OOC: Nicodemus moves into the saloon to the balcony. He spies Wilder and Zeke, but he's rather more pissed at James Wilder than he is at the mountain man right now.

So he fires 3 bolts at Wilder as revenge for nearly being perforated.

17:59, Today: Nicodemus Whateley rolled 7,3,10,4 using d12,d12,d12,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 7,3,10,4.  Spellcasting.

That's 3 hits, 1 raise.

Hit 1: 15. 2 wounds
Hit 2: 10. 1 Wound
Hit with Raise: 14. 2 Wounds

Once again, the dice roller proves how much it hates Wilder's player. That combined damage will Incapacitate Wilder unless he soaks.

"You assume actually harming you was the point." Nic mutters under his breath.

Wild Bill looks around. "This...this is the Bella Union." He mutters. "I'm back in Deadwood. But why...McCall." He scowled. "McCall said...it was Swearengen. Swearengen put him up to it..." And he snarls. "And then it all went dark. But I guess that means I still got a crack at that son of a bitch." He looks at the gun in his hand, then over at the bodies near the boarded-up window. "Damn. My monster's been busy. That's alright. That's alright. Once Swearengen gets his, I reckon I don't care what becomes of me no more."

((OOC: Wild Bill attempts to Unshake. Since he's undead, he gets a +2 bonus to this.

20:19, Today: Wild Bill Hickok rolled 3,3 using d8+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 1,1.  Unshake.

wat. OK, so he remains Shaken. I rule that this is because he's trying to figure out where the hell he is, since the last thing he remembers was track McCall down to a saloon in Laramie. He gets a bonus because of how well he knows Deadwood.

20:19, Today: Wild Bill Hickok rolled 6,4 using d8+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 4,2.  Smarts - where am I?

Success on that, at least.

Katy dropped the hand that had been pointing at Darius Carter. Perhaps a demonstration was in order. "Aim fer the noggin', Miss Whooperwill. Like this." She raised her weapon and squeezed off another shot aimed for Carter's melon.

OOC: 15 damage, AP1.
Total of 7 to hit (I think we need a 6 to hit as his deflection is still active) after spending a blue and a white.

00:25, Today: Catherine Hays Cox drew the single card: 8D using a deck of 54 cards.  Initiative.
00:25, Today: Catherine Hays Cox rolled 15 using 3d6+5, rerolling max with rolls of 5,2,3.  Damage (loaded for bear).
00:24, Today: Catherine Hays Cox rolled -3,-2,5 using d12-4,d6-4,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,2,5.  White chip.
00:24, Today: Catherine Hays Cox rolled 2 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2.  Blue chip.
00:23, Today: Catherine Hays Cox rolled 2,-2 using d12-4,d6-4, rerolling max with rolls of 6,2.  Shooting (called shot-head).

After taking her shot, Katy again slid most of her body behind the cover of the saloon's wall, waiting for her next opportunity to send screaming lead into the fray. Unfortunately, her two biggest shots had already been sent toward the outlaw. Unfortunate she didn't have more of them.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Rising to his feet over the bar, Logan quickly took stock of the situation, the dynamics of which seemed to have shifted. Wild Bill no longer had the crazed look in his eyes, and von Steinhoff seemed to be holding a new stranger at gunpoint. From what he'd been able to hear from behind the bar, the man might've had something to do with Bill's improved condition, according to his Austrian friend here, but at the moment all that Logan could see was interference with a federal investigation.

"I’m U.S. Marshal Logan West, and if you're a law abiding citizen of wherever, then you best get the hell out right now or you'll be liable for interfering in a federal investigation and the attempted murder of a witness to high crimes," he said, pulling and leveling his Colt Peacemaker at Ezekiel Starkweather.

OOC:

If he can, he'll draw his weapon and Aim at Ezekiel Starkweather.

Since he's not actually trying to shoot, I was not sure if an Agility roll was required. If it is required, I'll settle for him to just draw the thing and point.

13:56, Today: Logan West rolled 3,1 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,1. Agility.

Initiative: 3D

13:59, Today: Logan West drew the single card: 3H using the Deadlands system.

Katy's attention was immediately though slightly diverted to the US Marshal that just popped up from behind the bar. She looked over at him then pulled back into cover. "Can't be...but he looks just about right. Sounds like it too."

She shot a look over at Jackie. "Ya didn't tell me the US Marshal in there is Logan North."

She poked her head around the side of the wall for just a moment to verify, then spoke to Logan. "Didn't ever think I'd end up on the same side of a firefight as ya, Logan. It's Ranger Cox now, but it used ta be Katy Hays."

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Again Carter seems to have the devil's own luck...or maybe it's not luck, after all. Katy sees the bullet, which would have killed a lesser man, actually veer away before it strikes.

He still has magic active. Carter's gun may not be working now, but his defenses still make him dangerous.

"Reckon that's 'cause he introduced himself as Logan West." Jackie whispers back. "Didn't know you two were buddies. How did that happen?"

While the people down below are distracted, The Bella Union quietly levitated the broken bottle a drunk miner had let slip when he lost his head to Wild Bill.

The bottle flew through the air...and right through the bag Hyram Burns clutched close to him.

{riiiiiiiiiiiiip!}

And then the dynamite sticks began rolling out of the bag.

Hyram Burns stared at the sticks in disbelief. "No...No. No! NOOOOOOOOO!" He screamed as the dynamite spilled out over the floor. "Fire in the hole! Fire in the hole!"

And then the sticks rose into the air...and hurled themselves around the room!

A bundle of dynamite flew at the blazing Cynthia Burns.  She yelped and ducked, grabbing Hyram and tying to pull him to safety.

{{BOOM!}}

"ARRRGH!" Burns yelled as the tail end of the blast caught him, and Mr. Sebastian's hound yelped as well.

Another three sticks of dynamite flew towards Freiherr Von Steinhoff, who reacted with alacrity to duck down, grab the chair that had been attacking him earlier, and hurl it right into the dynamite's path, sending it flying away...and landing near Cyrus Tolliver!

"Aw, hell!" Tolliver yelped, and began rolling just as another batch of dynamite flew at him, bounced of a wall, and rolled...right beside Logan West!

{{BaBOOM!BaBOOM!!}}

Both loads of dynamite go off at the same time, punching a hole in the wall where Tolliver had been standing.

{{WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!!}}

The house roared, dropping the last three sticks of dynamite...right across the table from Von Steinhof, Zeke Starkweather, James Wilder, and Mr. Sebastian!

"DUCK!" Mr. Sebastian shouted as he tackled Von Steinhoff...

{{BOOM!}}

((OOC: Carter still has deflection active, by the by. Katy still hit after all was said and done, but just sayin'

15 damage vs Toughness 7 (his toughness sans armor) is 2 Wounds, which again Carter will spend a GM chip to attempt to soak.

13:32, Today: Darius Carter rolled 8,1 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 8,1.  Soak. He succeeds in soaking both wounds

I flavor this soaking as Katy cluing in that there's magic afoot.

Meanwhile, The Bella Union attempts to Unshake.

13:27, Today: Bella Union Saloon rolled 6,11 using d12,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 6,(6+5)11.  Unshake.

Yup, that'll do it.

It decides to make a bunch of attacks, this time using whatever sharp objects it can. It also makes an attack at Burns, trying to get at the dynamite so it can use it as extra explosive ammo. It does this by making a Called Shot at his bag.

13:48, Today: Bella Union Saloon rolled 14,3 using d10-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of (10+6)16,5.  Throwing (Called Shot).

It's attacking an object, so the Raise doesn't matter much, but the bag's toughness is far less than the minimum damage it can do. That will rip the bag wide open and spill the contents.

So now it has dynamite to throw around. It throws them in bunches of 3 at targets (Range 3/6/12 from where the bag split open). It can throw hard enough to deal 6 damage to the sticks, which will cause them to explode for 3d6 damage in a Medium Burst Template on top of the dame it'll do just actively throwing the stick at a target (str+d4, and the Bella Union has a really high strength).

In other words, fire in the hole!

It target's the bunches thusly: 1 batch at Cynthia Burns at Close Range (the MBT will affect Cynthia, Hyram, Mr. Sebastian's Shadow, and 1 of the Hardcases), 1 Batch at Von Steinhoff at Close Range (the MBT will affect Von Steinhoff, James Wilder, Ezekial Starkweather, Mr. Sebastian, and 3 of the Townsfolk hiding under tables nearby (Moderate Cover bonus)), 1 batch at Tolliver (the MBT will hit Tolliver, Logan (Moderate Cover Bonus), and the last Drunk Miner under Rabbit's control), and 1 batch at Carter at Medium Range with his Deflection penalty affecting it (The MBT will affect Carter, Katy (Moderate Cover Bonus), Wild Bill, The barkeep (Heavy Cover bonus), and the last patron trying to claw his way out of the boarded window where Wild bill was shooting)

Missed attacks will cause the dynamite to deviate as normal.

Attack vs. Cynthia: 14:17, Today: Bella Union Saloon rolled 2,3 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,3.  Throwing.

aaand it's a Miss, I roll for Deviation, and it winds up not really mattering (bouncing off a wall right back where it began.

All those affected get an Agility -2 check to get out of the blast area.

Cynthia: 14:21, Today: Cynthia Burns rolled 15,2 using d6-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of (6+6+5)17,4.  Agility. Success and Raise, so she'll use that raise to pull Hyram along with her (negating the -2 penalty). He still has a Wound penalizing him.

Hyram: 14:22, Today: Hyram Burns rolled 1,2 using d8-1,d6-1, rerolling max with rolls of 2,3.  Agility. Fail. he takes enough damage to make him Shaken.

Mr. Sebastian's Shadow: 14:26, Today: Mr. Sebastian's Shadow rolled 2 using 1d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 4.  Agility. Fail. It doesn't do enough damage to hurt it after the hound's immunity is taken into account, though.

Hardcase: Make me an Agility check (-2) or take 3d6 damage.

Chance for fire (normal): 14:28, Today: Bella Union Saloon rolled 1 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1.  Fuego! No fire this time.

Attack vs. Von Steinhoff: 14:30, Today: Bella Union Saloon rolled 1,1 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,1.  Throwing. Holy fuck, that's a Crit Fail. So it actually winds up throwing the dynamite into Tolliver's neck of the woods, meaning it might actually take enough damage to hurt itself.

Attack vs. Tolliver: 14:32, Today: Bella Union Saloon rolled 2,3 using d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,3.  Throwing.

Man, it is sucking today. That's a Miss. I roll for Deviation (keeping in mind that there will be extra Boom in this load). It winds up only moving a square, so boom goes the Dynamite right in Tolliver's face. Also, it moved enough to negate Logan's Cover

Tolliver: 14:37, Today: Cyrus Tolliver rolled 2,7 using d6-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 4,(6+3)9.  Agility. Tolliver nimbly avoids getting blowed up.

Logan West: Logan, roll Agility -2 or take 3d6+6 damage!

The Bella Union: Can't dodge. It just takes the damage. To add insult to injure, there's some kerosene lanterns where it was aiming, so the chance of fire is Very Flammable. It deals 22 damage to itself (making it Shaken again) but does not catch fire. Pity.

Attack vs. Carter: 14:42, Today: Bella Union Saloon rolled -2,-1 using d10-4,d6-4, rerolling max with rolls of 2,3.  Throwing. Miss. Not that I expected it to hit with all those penalties, but really?.

However, the Deviation bounces the dynamite back towards Von Steinhoff, James Wilder, and Zeke Starkweather. You all need to make Agility Checks at -2 or take 3d6 damage.

Mr. Sebastian is caught, too, as well as some Townsfolk.

Mr. Sebastian: 14:47, Today: Mr. Roger Sebastian Whateley rolled 2,15 using d8-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 4,(6+6+5)17.  Agility. Success and Raise. Duck and Coveeeer! He uses his Raise to help Von Steinhoff. Leopold, you get to make your Agility roll with no penalty.

Townsfolk: 14:50, Today: The Stray, on behalf of Townsfolk, rolled 6,3 using d6-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of (6+2)8,5.  Agility. One makes it, one does not. The townsfolk that doesn't make it takes 14 damage and is Incapacitated.

Fire chance (normal): 14:53, Today: Bella Union Saloon rolled 3 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3.  Fuego! Nope.

Bella union's card: KS. The only high roll in a carnival of Fail.))

TL;DR
Carter soaks (again).
The Bella Union has an epic hissy fit, rips open Hyram Burn's sack of dynamite and throws it at everyone. But it misses every throw, turning the Saloon into a Carnival of Epic Fail. Bombs go off everywhere and it winds up hurting itself.
Logan West, Zeke Starkweather, James Wilder, a Drunk Miner, and a Hardcase need to make Agility checks at -2 or take 3d6 damage (3d6+6 in Logan's case). On a Raise, you can add +2 to someone else's roll.
Von Steinhof has to make an Agility check (no penalty, thanks to an assist from Mr. Sebastian) or take 3d6 damage. On a Raise, you can add +2 to someone else's roll.
No one else is seriously hurt. srsly, die roller, wth?

Resolve some rolls, and then it's Maddox's turn.

He only had time to throw a quick glance at the woman who named herself Katy Hays before he saw out of his peripheral vision dynamite flying through the place and everybody ducking and dodging. He quickly dropped into a roll, but it was a very near thing, moving himself away from where he thought the blast radius would hit.

OOC:

Agility: 4 (Rerolled Agility 3 + Blue Chip 1 = Total 4)

Rolled a critical fail, but spent a Red chip as a White to reroll that. Came up with a 3, so spent a Blue chip to add 1d6 and got a 1, with a total of 4

18:44, Today: Logan West rolled 1 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1.  Blue Chip +1d6.
18:44, Today: Logan West rolled 3,-1 using d10-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 5,1.  Spending a Red as a White to reroll that..
18:43, Today: Logan West rolled -1,-1 using d10-2,d6-2, rerolling max with rolls of 1,1.  Agility to avoid Dynamite.

Zek was about to snarl at the man with the gun at his head, and the lawman who sought to defend a Whateley of all people. Figures the law would protect the ones with money and power. He growled to himself. Even as he was about to say or do anything...the house beat him to it. Another Whateley murder house...he thought with dread. At least this one is doing a good job of blowing itself up.

However, the two guns being aimed at him where now gone. He was not close enough to help any of his friends from the blast-but he saw one person in the room and proceeded to tackle them, knocking them behind a fallen table and shielding them both from the blast. At least Nicodemus had revealed his rotten self...

Woooo! Assuming no PCs fail the roll by 2, I will be using the raise to help the Hardcase's roll of 2 to make it a 4.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

He had only caught a glance at her before more pressing concerns like dynamite interrupted him, but it did look like what he'd imagined she might look like after all these years. He'd certainly wondered after what had become of his best friend growing up, but he didn't really see himself going back to Texas anytime soon, so there didn't seem much that could be done about it. It seemed that time and circumstance had brought them together again, in the oddest of places.

"Katy? That really you?" he called out from his newest 'avoid being killed hiding spot.' To avoid the dynamite, he had tucked and rolled, and was once again down behind the bar, which is where his voice came from. Wait, did she say Ranger? Well, he didn't really have beef with them, so to speak. At least, that wasn't his game. He could only hope it wasn't hers. Cox…he remembered another kid they came up with by that name. He had to admit he was at least a bit jealous of the man.

OOC-If the hardcase is on the second floor, maybe Zek bats the stick of dynamite out of the air and knocks it off course before it can land next to the man?

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

some mood music

Maddox feels the ground shake as explosions rock the Bella Union. "Coc y gath!" He curses. "This situation's gone fucked beyond all reason, it has!" He drops Bones, eliciting a groan from the injured gambler, and pulls out some shackles. Maddox snaps one end of the manacles around the stair banister and the other around Brett's wrist. "You stay there a tick." Maddox grumbled, then ran back towards the fighting.

The girl with the hole in her head cocks an ear as Katy and Logan exchange pleasantries. "Pardon me," she says sweetly, "But did I hear you say you were a Ranger? As in a Texas Ranger?"

Then she whips up her gun and unloads it at Katy's back!

*BANG*POW*BANG*POW*BANG*POW*Ka-TING!*

"I don't like Rangers none." She finishes, pulling out the spent cartridges and putting in fresh ones as rapidly as she can. "I got killed by one once."

((OOC: That would be a real trick, considering the batch of dynamite that caught the hardcase was nowhere near the bundle that's blowing up near Zeke--it was part of the bundle that blew up near Cynthia Burns. The logistics just don't work out, sorry.

Rolling die for some of my townsfolk:

Maddox takes his turn. He takes his shackles (he's a bounty hunter, of course he has shackles) and locks ups Brett Bones to the stairwell, then heads back. He's spent most of this combat doing jack squat.

Maddox's card: 7C

Tzipporah, meanwhile, is feelin' a mite ornery now that she knows Katy Cox is a Ranger, on account of her being killed by one. She Slams The Hammer at the Ranger. She's not moving, so she gets the benefit of her Marksman edge, which (along with ehr Slam the Hammer edge) cancels out the Rapid Attack penalty.

12:17, Today: Tzipporah Whateley rolled 19,1,1,4,2,4,2 using d10,d10,d10,d10,d10,d10,d6, rerolling max with rolls of (10+9)19,1,1,4,2,4,2.  Fannin' The Hammer.

1 hit with a Raise, 1 Hit. If Katy were standing adjacent to someone, Innocent Bystanders would get hit, but they aren't.

Hit with Raise: 6 damage. That makes Katy Shaken.
Hit: 9 damage. That's a second Shaken, which will result in a Wound if Katy doesn't soak.

She uses a free action to reload (Speed Load).

Tziporrah's card: 9D))

Resolve Soak, and then it's Darius Carter's turn!

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

Katy spared a glance at Whooperwill and nodded. "Yes ma'am. Long way from home, so I appreciate yer assistance with these fellas. Us gals gotta stick together, right?" She turned back toward the fray until she heard Whooperwill proclaim her disdain for the Rangers. Katy immediately and instinctively split her legs apart and ducked her head, attempting to get everything important out of the way of the coming hail of bullets.

Of course with six shots fired, there was enough time for Whooperwill to track Katy's movement and send a couple of the bullets into the left side of Katy's lower back. Lucky for her the shots were grazes and missed everything vital.

12:48, Today: Catherine Hays Cox rolled 2,4 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,4.  Soak.

Wound is soaked, but we'll flavor that as hitting her, as 6 shots from point blank aren't going to entirely miss someone without magical intervention.

She returned to standing with her back against the saloon wall and facing Whooperwill, left hand pressing at the spot where she got hit. "Fuck! It weren't me that shot ya, Whooperwill! Ya holed my favorite duster!" And her blouse. And her hip. Wasn't her first time getting shot, though. More scars to explain.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

"Well, yes, that's true, but you have a silver star and you're right in front of me." The dead woman says as she casually slides more round back into her gun. "And your organization has been quite hard on my family. I have a brother and a cousin here. I may not like my family much, but they're still family." She finishes loading and gives the chamber a good spin.

{vzzzzzz*click*}

She raises the gun, aiming for Katy's head.

"And family is as family does. I got to protect me and mine. From you. Such a shame, you seemed like an alright sort."

Darius Carter, realizing he has a perfect opportunity, runs toward the stairs, laughing as he does so. "Much obliged for the distraction, ma'am!" he shouts back.

((OOC: Darius Carter runs, because why wouldn't he?

13:25, Today: Darius Carter rolled 4 using 1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 4.  Run.

That'll get him all the way to the stair and halfway up.

Carter's card: 10S))

"If ya noticed, I ain't been shootin' at yer family! And I ain't got no cause ta do so. I was shootin' at THAT asshole, what just got away! Only interaction I've had with another Whateley was when I was tryin' ta make friends with Nicodemus. And fer the record, Rangers ain't got any sorta orders ta treat y'all worse'n any other citizen. That does include yer entire family!" Katy gritted her teeth and grimaced. She didn't like where this was going. She did have to admit that whatever brother or sister in arms had blown that hole in Whooperwill's face was a pretty good shot.

Re: Chapter 5.4: Shootout at the Bella Union Saloon ((Deadwood))

"AA-aIUgh!" the hardcase screams as the blast takes him off the balcony. His smouldering body crashes through a table below in a shower of playing cards and discarded poker chips.

"SCULLY!! No!" His companion blinks, then rounds on the source of the dynamite that went flying everywhere. He was a doctor, wasn't he? "YOU KILLED TED, YOU MEDICAL DICKWEED!!" *BANG*

"Aim for the glowy bastards!" The leader yells, pinging a shot off Carter. "Everyone that's doing weird shit, put 'em down! This has got real unnatural!"

Arne just grips the rail, trying to work out what's going on.

"HEE-YEAH!" the small ratty one laughs at the chaos, efficiently following the given order.

{crack}

"HYEE-HYEEE Heh heh heh! HYeEEh-hAA! Heh heh..."

[[Firstly, Soak for Scully, whom the Dice Roller puts at 2 wounds...
