Re: Discussion
Get them a fighting game.  Blazblue, for instance.  Mash the buttons, cool stuff happens.  No arguing over who gets what since its a versus game, and you can do mirror battles all you want!

Re: Discussion
I do have Tekken 6, and Soul Calibur 4 for that purpose...although the littlest one isn't -quite- big enough to not get whalloped regularly.  Soon.  SOON.  (He's better at Tekken than SC4, it's more button-masher friendly for the most part.)

...and well, Soul Calibur 5, too, but that's my Christmas present and they're not getting their grubby paws on that yet.

..I was out running some errands, but I'm totally here now.

Re: Discussion
I'm sure you saw the warning in Zere's game, but just in case you didn't... something's seriously fucked with my motherboard and/or processor.  Whole computer crapped out this morning, and somehow just arbitrarily decided to come back up after a few hours.

I suspect it could die again at any time, so if I up and disappear for a few days, that'll be why, and I'll be back.  Duran'll know the deal if it croaks.

Good thing we got Nanoha finished!

Re: Discussion
I realize your computer's fucked for a bit, but you seem to be getting a chance here or there to post.

Nothing major, I just thought I'd mention how, in reading the X-wing series, Wes Janson has become one of my favorite Star Wars characters.  The man is a fucking hero.

Re: Discussion
Really, the set of four 'original' Rogues are great as a group... Wedge, Tycho, Hobbie, and Janson.

Such as a particular instance where they have to escape from a hostile city.  Wedge demands they find four sets of women's clothing...

Hobbie: "Boss, please tell me you're not putting us in women's clothing."

Wedge: "Very well.  I'm not putting us in women's clothing."

- next chapter -

There they are, all four, in women's clothing, with Hobbie staring betrayed at Wedge.

"You lied to me."

Re: Discussion
*laugh* That's cute.

...and yeah, the computer's being...weird.  There's no other way to put it.  The motherboard and/or processor are definitely screwed, so I'm kind of living in fear in it going down and not powering back up again like it did last week.  I'm kind of babying it to see if it'll hold on until end of the year bonuses come in (because then I can replace it on the spot if it dies, instead of having to wait).

Which is a real bummer, because I haven't had a single game cut on in almost a week now, and it's driving me nuts. :(

That said, posting is on my list of things to do today, so I'll be here and doing that.

Re: Discussion
Lay your wagers now!

Three hours of "heavy snow" forecast for my house means...

A. Approximately two flakes of snow will land on my grill.

B. It'll rain all night, and everything will be encased in two inches of ice come morning.

C. The mother of all blizzards will descend and I'll be trapped in my house for two weeks.

D. Absolutely nothing will happen, it'll be 70-degrees and sunny tomorrow and I'll have the A/C on, but we'll all go buy bread and milk like it's the apocalypse anyway.  (Sadly, I have to buy milk -anyway-, on the worst damn day to do so.)

Remember! It's January in North Carolina! Anything can happen!

(I hate the weather)

So my son fires up the Star Wars Kinect game and starts playing today, and the first story is titled Dark Side Rising.  I had to laugh. :)

Re: Discussion
First Bleach steals my 'zanpakuto rebelling' idea, no Star Wars steals my title (which I've had lying around for at least 5 years now).  Its a crime, I tell you.

So, we certainly got a lot of snow here last night, I dunno about you.

Now... I finished the X-wing series.  I want mooooore.  The squadron(s) had such a great dynamic.  Also, I find it hilarious (and awesome) that Wedge's daughter, Myri Antilles, is listed as 'gambler' in the dramatis personae.  That's actually her chosen profession too - she tends to stick around on the Errant Venture taking would-be gamblers for everything they own.

What's funny about this is that her father, Wedge Antilles, is the galaxy's most famous starfighter pilot, as well as one of the New Republic's most respected (retired) generals.  Myri's mother, Iella Antilles (formerly Iella Wessiri), was (and still is, in part) one of the New Republic's most effective intelligence operatives.

And Myri became a gambler.  Not that she doesn't have the intelligence and starfighter skills - she DOES now roll with Wraith squadron, unofficially, after all.  Wraith being a concept Wedge brought about earlier in his career - whereas Rogue squadron was one designed as a squadron of pilots that could function as a commando unit on the ground, Wraith squadron was formed as a commando unit (of misfits no less) that could function equally as a squadron.  They eventually became a part of the Intelligence branch as well.

Re: Discussion
Two flakes of snow on my grill, and for about fifteen minutes I could see it mixed in with the rain under the streetlight across the highway.  That's it.

...and yes, clearly a crime! Also, apparently I need to read those.  I might go pilfer the library later and see if they have them.  I'm so damn bored, not being able to run games on the computer. Argh.

Re: Discussion
Make sure you check the order - while each functions as a story on its own, you would better enjoy hem reading them in the correct order.

Now, if you LIKE, I could find where I got the books (they're on my ereader) and send the download link to you.  Easy enough to get a program to read epub formats, and you could read them on the computer, if all else fails.

In any case, I think its high time I worked on a post here.

Re: Discussion
I may take you up on that if the library doesn't have them.  I have an ereader as well, but I just don't find it as enjoyable as an actual paper book for some reason.  There's something about the feel of the pages that I just like.

I'll be sure to look up and write down the order before I go searching.

...and yes, posts are grand.  I've been wondering where Zere took himself off to this week, myself, and wondering if he's suffering computer-related issues as well.  Mine's just making me paranoid.  It threw up this hard error week before last, and went down, and then refused to boot (because I -love- when it tells me to insert a boot disc), so I was convinced the hard drive was fried.  But when I went into the BIOS setup window and started monkeying around, everything, and I mean everything was returning an 'Invalid Entry', which leads me to believe either the motherboard is fucked, or the processor...but then it just decided to spontaneously boot while I was messing around.

Now, where this gets weird?  It's gone down twice since then (once for a reboot, once for a power blink) and come back up just as pretty as you please.  I think it needs an exorcism. :P

Re: Discussion
Yeah, that does sound weird.  Then again, it also sounds like the usual Windows BS as well.  Windows, at its best, is like a temperamental 6-year old.

I really hope you get a chance to read the series, it's great.  You'll also be introduced to the namesake for my other Jedi character (the one I'm using in another game I've mentioned - the 'Force Artist), Mirax Terrik.  Mirax is a Corellian name through and through, and I couldn't resist using it.  Its fun to look at, heh.

Re: Discussion
That is a pretty slick name, and fun to say.  I approve!

One bonus to lack of gaming is that I'm trying to work out of my holiday art slump.  I suppose that's something. (I hadn't realized just how slack I'd been, till I looked at the save date for Fast & Dangerous.  Time flies, I swear.)

...also, you never did say, just how much snow did you get up there?

Re: Discussion
Well, its still snowing.  I'd say at least 10-15cm, likely more.  When I walked home last night, it was about two inches or so on top of what was already lying around.

So, Fast and Dangerous is the name of the piece, I take it?  Can't wait to see it... good thing for no gaming!

Probably not good for me though.  I've got an itch to play X3: Terran Conflict again, and whenever I do that... goodbye two weeks.

Re: Discussion
I swear I'm going to reach through the monitor and pop you, silly.  Fast & Dangerous is the last piece, of Hector and Ori, that I -know- I linked to you.  The one with the Mando script.

...which made me feel bad when I went to save the piece I'm on now, and realized that one was from October.  Whoops.

I'm babying myself back into it at the moment, doing a piece of a character I don't really have much invested in (so I'm less likely to throw up my hands in frustration that way), but the list of interesting pieces for later is long and varied. ;)

Yeah, I know that one.  I am, however, bad with names, if you recall.

In which case, I look forward to interesting pieces later, once you've gotten frustration out of your system, heh.

Yes, well... I suppose you're forgiven for forgetting names.  Just this once! *shakes fist*

...and really, I just needed something cheap and easy, and I've been watching Hellboy II lately, and this character is based off one of the characters in that, so... yeah.

Re: Discussion
Cheap and easy, huh?  There's a prostitute joke in there somewhere.

Also, I may have 'dictated' a bit for Ven, but it shouldn't be a big deal I hope.  Mainly wanted to include Schizo, heh.

Re: Discussion
Oh psh, I don't mind the dictation at all.  I mean, we both knew he was going to exit the ship - and hell, I like Schizo anyway.  I just have to decide whether or not Ven's gonna get his back up and be a troublemaker.  I mean, his mom would!

...and...not that kind of cheap and easy! *shakes fist* (I do love Hellboy II, though)

Either way it should be amusing, I think.

Also, I've been continuously thinking about the later parts of his story... I dunno if you're gonna like me for some of the things I have planned, heh.  I'm mean.

Re: Discussion
Speaking of mean, give us a second thread so all of this one doesn't start cycling into the ether!

...and honestly, I'm both half-afraid to see it, and looking forward to it.  I figure that horrible things will happen, and good people will die, and well...that's what happens in stories.

Kill off Hector and Ori, though, and we might have words. *sagenod*
